I just noticed that in the deleted scene (after Elphaba overhears Fiyero in the forest) she sings all friends and allies gone, even though she hasn’t seen Nessa, Boq, Glinda, or the Animals yet!

At this point in the story, she can’t be that sure about the others.

She’s only lost one.

But when that one is Fiyero, it feels like losing everything…
