Isn't the red science used to make the Memento Mori ? Is it straight thaumaturgy or something ?

A Seal of the Red Science is used to make the Memento Mori, yes. It’s not absolutely clear what the Red Science is; it may be the same as the Shapeling Arts, or it may not. Whatever it is, it’s something capable of breaking the Great Chain and allowing things to become greater than they are.

I think it’s possibly supposed to be Salt’s entry to the Neath, but it might be something completely different just used as an example for why the Red Science is so messed up.

I had a thought about the Go East quest. You know about the price for the Salt Song,of course, but there was something about being able to get it with an "Unpaid Debt." Perhaps it's just me, but that sounds like it's related to Mr.Eaten. Thoughts?

It is the Price Unpaid. Mostly just a hint at what you need to do, since it’s impossible to obtain. I really don’t want to think about Eaten and Salt connections at the minute because some Seeking stuff has thrown a wrench into what I thought I knew; it might be relevant, or maybe it’s not???

So what are all the lessons of the Chapel of Lights really getting at? Outside the lore, what's the point of all of them?

Well, I mean, the lore’s a fairly big thing, becoming St. Gawain’s Candle and all. Mechanically you’d pretty much only do it to get Secrets and Enigmas, I guess.

Sandalwood is somewhat related to Eastern cultures to what I know. AND, we have some rather obscure lore about Salt trying to communicate to Storm and failing until it learned its "true name". Dunno, maybe a thunder-dragon can somewhat fall in love with a Judgement/servant of a Judgment? And descendants of the Fourth City being someway involved in that?

I doubt that’s what happened; and I doubt even more strongly that the Fourth City was involved in any way with Salt or Storm’s stories.

I'm planning on doing Salts Song and I know it wipes your lodgings, echoes, etc. But I also have have all 5 legacy items like the boke of sharps, dream of red, etc. Do I have to worry about losing those with Salts Song?

I’m pretty sure you don’t lose those.

I've found numerous locations across the Unterzee that display architecture similar to the Iron Republic (such as Castle Clare and Upton). Did the devils of hell once have multiple colonies across the Zee? If so, do we know what happened to them?

There’s no real reference to that anywhere. The bits of architecture not associated with any island don’t really have any story behind them or anything, they’re just kinda there.

In all honesty, what do we know of the Neath? We know a nice amount of most of the things that live in it, but what is this place anyway? Just a huge cavern under the crust of the world or something else?

The Neath itself is a really big cavern about the size of Europe and about a mile underground, conventionally, but in practice reality starts to get fuzzy towards the borders. It’s sometimes called the skull of a Long-Dead God, and it’s known as the place where the Earth stores the memories which shame here. It’s the only place we know of in this universe which is mostly free from the influence of the Judgements, thanks to the Cave of the Nadir. It’s not clear when or how the Neath was formed, but it’s been here for a terribly long time; certainly since before the Bazaar arrived, at the very least.

So the Lady in Lilac loves a space crab, a tiger and a guy that runs a tattoo parlor. I feel that this is a very unhealthy love rectangle. How does this even happen?

Nah, it’s not that bad. She doesn’t love the guy who runs a tattoo parlour.

how come Maybe's daughter doesn't explodes on a puff of Is-Not when you take her to the surface? Isn't the fact that her father is a tiger, kind of a qualifier for making her existence very illegal

Tigers are fairly legal, and you can get away with a bit more in Parabola. She does say the Surface feels very strange to her, since she was born in the Is-Not Zone and all. She probably wouldn’t fare too well if she took up residence there permanently. but then again, she could be fine; if her father was an Elder Continental tiger, she might have a tiny little spark of the Mountain’s vitality to keep her safe.

Is it possible to complete the Venturer's quest (i.e. bring him to Avid Horizon) but wouldn't follow him, because I don't want to end my game/it is not in character? Or my only option is to refuse him completely?

You can bring him there but refuse to cross over with him.

Can the Dawn Machine be destroyed?

Nothing is indestructible.

Does Mr Sacks actually provide the additional engine power and fuel efficiency listed in its description, or is that for flavor?

Just for flavour, since you can’t equip it.

Why can the dead officers be found at the Fathomking Hold and alive?

The Fathomking is the lord of all who drown or die at sea. He’s pretty buff; not quite buff enough to restore your officers exactly as they were, but buff enough that it’s hard to tell the difference.

What would the Dawn Machine do to the nature of things like physic and gravity when it achieve its goal?

It’s entirely possible even fundamental things like that would be altered - this is the New Sequence, after all - but it’s not clear how.
