during the Korean War, my grandfather and my grandmother would take hundreds of pictures of themselves to send back and forth. My grandmother’s pictures would show her walking around New York, posing on her walks home from work. My grandfather would send pictures of himself in Korea. They wrote on the back of each picture. My grandmother always wrote a simple caption talking about her hair growing or the new dress she bought. My grandfather wrote, on every single one “I love you.”

I spent last night driving around and listening to heavy metal drummer by wilco

 but is this not like Daddy Sherlock when the kids come home from school and he’s already been making them hot chocolate and has to pretend to be interested in what they learned or did in school that day even though he’s already deducted it. And they keep rambling on and on, giggling when he makes surprised faces and happy they could shock their brilliant daddy and they’re the only people Sherlock would ever keep quiet for
