The Boys who ran away to New York.
In 1985 two boys from Darndale in Dublin, Keith Byrne (10) and Noel Murray (13), both made headlines around the world when they hopped on a Dart and ended up in New York escaping authorities in three countries.
Keith Byrne said that he and his friend went to the United States because he wanted to see his favourite television star, B A Baracus, of The A-Team.
Their adventure started when they went out to play before dinner time, Keith said in an RTÉ Radio documentary broadcast last month: “My mum said: ‘don’t go far, your dinner’s nearly ready,’ ”he recalled. “I said: ‘I won’t.”
But they did. They took the Dart to Dún Laoghaire and snuck on to a ferry to Holyhead. Emboldened by their success, they avoided the ticket checkers and got on a train to London. Eventually they wound up at Heathrow airport with nothing but a few coins they’d nicked from a charity fountain.
Once there they asked a random passenger where his plane was going and he told them New York. They told the ticket checker and security their parents were behind them, and boarded an Air India plane.
“The plane was only half full so no one came near us,” he said. Their ease at slipping past the authorities was even more surprising given the fact that, two months earlier, an Air India jet had blown up off the southwest of Ireland, killing 329 people.
Byrne recalled being unable to eat a very hot Indian curry and watching the James Bond film A View To A Kill.
Their journey came to an end when they left JFK airport and asked a policeman for the way “into town”. They were taken to a police station where they immediately became the centre of attention. Authorities were taking no chances and they were put in a hotel suite with five security guards. “There was BLTs, chips, everything, fed us like lords. We loved it,” Keith said.
Their exploits made the front page of the New York newspapers.
Keith Byrne is now 42 and Noel Murray is 45. Both live in Darndale.

Standing up for ourselves.
Does anyone ever read political literature from the French, American and Russian revolutions, and think that the ordinary person has become far too tolerant of being fecked over? Back in those times people would rise up and oust a government or a figure that plagued their community/country! Now we just sit around and talk about what SHOULD be, with little or no actions being done to achieve it! What has changed in the thinking of the average person? What makes us do so little to change the problems that face the vast majority of us? (the 99%) Could it be that the press is no longer free and as radical as it was? Could it be services like facebook and youtube that give us a sense of comfort even though everything around us is crumbling?! I think we all need to stop watching cute puppy videos (no matter how good they are! <3 ) and have a look at the things we need! Why does your manager in work have the right to treat you like dirt? Why do the politicians have the right to draw huge salaries while our healthcare and infrastructure and our standard of living are crumbling? Should these not be the people WORKING for us? I think we are worse for letting these people get away with this type of carry on… These people should be terrified at the prospect of us ousting them if they don’t perform!
SO APPARENTLY RAP STANDS FOR “RHYTHM AND POETRY”
Myself @ me: you need to wake up earlier so you don’t waste the day Me @ myself: sorry I was sleeping and just saw this lol wyd

The Pollock twins were English girls who are often referenced as proof of reincarnation. Their parents, John and Florence Pollock, lived in Hexham, England. They had two daughters, Joanna, 11, and Jacqueline, 6. On May 5, 1957, the two children were killed in a car accident. The parents were understandably devastated.
Florence got pregnant the following year, and gave birth to twin girls on October 4, 1958. Gillian and Jennifer were identical twins, but they had different birthmarks. Jennifer had a birthmark on her waist that matched a birthmark that Jacqueline had. She also had a birthmark on her forehead that resembled a scar that Jacqueline had.
The family moved to Whitley Bay when the twins were three months old. Two years later, the girls started asking for toys that had belonged to their elder sisters, despite never having seen the toys before. After the family returned to Hexham, the twins, despite never having been there, pointed out landmarks their older sisters had known. They also began to panic upon seeing moving cars, shrieking, “The car is coming to get us!” After they turned five, their memories of their previous lives faded, and they went on to lead normal lives. Since the “all lives matter” bunch is busy marching chanting “Jews will not replace us”, “white lives matter”, “blood and soil” and other racist and xenophobic atrocities, I wanna take a moment to commemorate this brave woman. Heather Heyer was 32 years old. She was murdered while counter-protesting in Charlottesville.
Thank you for taking a stand, for fighting against racism and homophobia. You will not be forgotten.

This guy in my art class forgot his paint brush so he just cut off a chunk of his hair and taped it to a pencil.
I feel like he has more commitment to fine art than I do.
