Summary: Your relationship with Lohen before and during the Nod Krai expedition, and what his homecoming is like.

You decided to approach Varka and directly ask him where Lohen was. However, that was easier said than done. Pushing your way through the dense crowd, you almost found yourself being pushed into the water at times. Though once you passed the last huge group of people, you made it to a small opening in the crowd.
While trying to continue through, you got shoved back by a random woman. Thankfully, someone was behind you to keep you from falling on your behind. Turning to thank the man, you were met with a very familiar white and gold chest piece that had a leather strap across it and a blue coat. You looked up and gasped.
“Lohen?!” You screamed before launching yourself into his arms. “Lohen, you’re home! Finally,y you’re home!” You cheered happily as he took you into his arms. His hands rested on your lower back as he lifted you and spun you as you both happily held each other. Upon setting you back onto solid group he leaned back from your hug.
When Lohen became the Vice Captain of the fifth company, you were over the moon for him. While he doesn’t often drink, he chose to join you in the comfort of your shared home. It was only natural that he’d climb the ranks given his dedication to the Knights and his desire to better himself.
However, when he came home and informed you that Varka had begun assessing knights for an expedition, you couldn’t help but be worried. Nod Krai was an unstable nation that was on the other side of Teyvat. Lohen explained the situation with the wild hunt, the Fatui, and how tensions were increasing in the region. The Knights were planning an expedition to assist the Lightkeepers in fighting back the wild hunt and help keep the Fatui contained and prevent their control of the region from expanding.
“Grandmaster Varka keeps telling me no. He doesn’t think I’d be a good fit for the expedition- not to mention the assessment is completely bull crap and Varka knows it.” Lohen complained one night during dinner. The Sweet Madame on his plate was getting cold with how much talking he was doing. You simply nodded in response, opting to listen rather than give potentially unwanted advice.
You could swear you could see the smoke pour from Lohen’s ears as he thinks of what to do. The back of his hand rests over his mouth, the fork he’s holding being spun around in his fingers. His blue and red eyes could’ve burned holes into the wooden table you both sat at.
Breaking the silence, you begin to tell Lohen about your day. “The stone-smith stopped by today. He was picking up his wife’s favorite type of-” You’re rudely cut off by a loud bang coming from Lohen’s end of the table.
“I know what I can do!” He shouts. “If the current examiner isn’t going to pass me and allow me to join, I’ll simply take his job and convince Varka to let me join.” His eyes glimmer with excitement at his newly developed idea.
Your spit gets caught in your throat due to the shock of the sudden interruption. Once you clear your throat, you respond. “That’s definitely one way to go about it. Why not stay home, though? I’m sure with the expedition, they will be down a few knights.” While you and Lohen lived in Dornman Port, he could easily travel to the actual city of Mondstadt for his duties if needed. “Plus, from what you’ve described, it’s going to be super dangerous in Nod Krai.” Pointing out the obvious.
While you tried your best to support Lohen’s desire to leave for Nod Krai, there was a selfish part of you that was scared if he were to be invited. He is a very capable knight, having killed many monsters, and he’s even taken out an entire weapons smuggling ring. You’ve seen how rigorously he trains to become stronger. However, you also see the mental toll it has taken on him. Surely if he left, it would only get worse.
“That’s what makes it so worth it! The expedition will allow me to prove to everyone that I am strong enough to lead the fifth company since Adorno is all but officially retired on paper…” Lohen begins to ramble on the million and one reasons he believes leaving would be good. What he fails to mention is who he’d be leaving behind in Dornman Port.
You said nothing, simply allowing him to finish his thought. Changing the subject, you continue to discuss the meaningless details about your day. Anything to get your mind off the growing pit in your stomach.
A few weeks have gone by, and Lohen has set his plan in place. Every day, he’d come and tell you of the ways his fellow knights failed the expedition assessments he had put together. You listened, of course, enjoying seeing your partner be so enthusiastic when speaking about his day. This routine lasted for about two weeks more until he finally broke the news to you.
“Grandmaster Varka finally invited me to join the expedition! I told you he’d be impressed with my results as the new examiner.” The same glint of excitement and bloodlust filled his eyes. For you, however, your heart sank deep within your chest. Swallowing your emotions, you continued to act like you were excited for him. Unfortunately for you, you could only keep up the facade until you retired for the night.
A soft knock echoes through your and Lohen’s bedroom. Lohen cracked the door open as he took in the sight before him. You were sitting at the edge of the bed, hunched over and sobbing into your hands. Your hair clung to the sides of your face due to the tears. The whites of your eyes appeared a bright pink to the point they almost looked red. Lohen let out a sigh before entering and closing the door behind him.
“Sweetheart- what’s wrong? You know if something is bothering you that you could tell me, right?” He comes and sits beside you. This side of him, he rarely let anyone see. Only in the comforts of your own home- your bedroom, would he allow himself to be so vulnerable. His ego being set aside for the time being, his only concern was his partner crying in front of him.
Reaching out, Lohen pulls you into his chest. His chin resting on your hair. “Shhh, it’s ok. I’m here, everything is ok now.” He begins to softly stroke your back until you calm down enough to speak.
“You could die…” You say. Your voice is barely a mixture of a whisper and a mumble. However, Lohen heard you and sat in silence, trying to think of a response. A few moments later, he opens his mouth to speak. “I could.” Out of anything he could have said, he certainly couldn’t deny the truth. The expedition was dangerous; he didn’t know how strong his enemies would be, but he did know their bloody body count.
Lohen continues to run his hand up and down your back. Adjusting his head, he repeated, leaving light kisses on your hair and upper forehead. Each peck a reminder of his love. “I know you’re scared. I should’ve genuinely asked what you thought before agreeing to leave. I was so blindsided by the excitement of it all- I completely missed how you must be feeling.” The apology floats through the air of your bedroom. Neither of you spoke until your sobs fell into sniffling and shaky breathing.
“I’m scared to lose you.” You whimper into his chest. You feel a soft hum come from Lohen in response. He gives it a few long seconds before responding. Gently moving his hands to your shoulders, he pushes you away so he can meet your eyes. He also moves from sitting next to you to kneeling on one knee in front of you so you both are as close to eye level as possible.
“Y/n. I know there isn’t much I can say or do right now to make you feel better. But please believe me that I promise to return to you. On my honor as the vice captain and as your partner. Nothing could keep me from returning home to your embrace.” You didn’t really have a response. All you could do was stare at him as you continued to collect yourself. “I love you, Sweetheart. Plus, do you really think I’d go down that easily? Truly, I’m wounded you’d think I’d die to some monsters or Fatui.” He jokes. Thankfully, his attempts to make you laugh are successful.
He partially stands up and leans forward to kiss you. He didn’t pinky swear, but you knew that this kiss was him showing you he would keep his promise. “Come on, let’s get you to bed.” He climbs into bed next to you and wraps his arms around your waist. Pulling you into him as he leaves one last kiss on your shoulder before you both drift off for the night.
The day Lohen was set to leave approached a lot faster than either you or he would’ve liked. While your stress and worry for Lohen’s safety were still more than you could contain, you’ve accepted the fact that he was going to Nod Krai. Which is what led you both to the present day, today, Lohen and the rest of the expedition were to leave for Nod Krai.
“You almost forgot your back-up, back-up bullets.” You say while handing Lohen the umpteenth pack of bullets for his guns. “Ah, thank you, my love. I’d be a man lost admits the winds without you.” He thanks you before kissing your forehead. The bustling dock fell into the background noise as you and Lohen spent a few moments embracing each other.
“All aboard!” Varka yells from the ship. By now, the knights remaining in Mondstadt had arrived to wave the ship farewell. Lohen pulls away from you before speaking. “I suppose that’s my cue to get on the boat. I’ll send a letter as soon as I can, I promise.” Lohen reassures you. You swallow hard, holding back the sudden last-second rush of anxiety and fear that crashed over you.
“I love you. I’ll be back in no time at all.” Lohen states before giving you one last kiss. Before he can walk away, you grab his hand. “I love you too. Please come home safe to me.” You give him a stern yet concerned look. “Always,” Lohen replies with a kirt nod. With that, he turns to board the ship.
Days turned to weeks, which turned to months. You haven’t heard anything from Lohen. Other knights have sent letters home, including the Grandmaster himself. But Lohen hasn’t sent anything. However, Lohen’s silence doesn’t mean it was returned. Whenever a new shipment of letters from the expedition arrived, you always made sure to send letters back. You even tried sending one to the Grandmaster, asking him to ask Lohen to reply.
Seven months had passed, autumn turned to winter, which turned to early spring. The Windblume festival came and went, and Liyue celebrated its Lantern Rite. Everything had become a blur of staying busy and keeping up with your work. However, this mundane routine came to an end one day when you were handed a crudely sealed letter.
“Miss Y/n. From Vice Captain Lohen.” Was all the mail carrier said while handing you the letter. The envelope appeared as if it had gone through a war. Edges were crumpled, and some dirt had stained the white color into a light beige. The outside didn’t matter; however, you were more interested in the contents that your lover had written.
Knowing Lohen, it was probably smartest to open the letter within the confines of your shared home. Not because he would put poison or some other substance in the envelope. But because you’re sure the contents of the letter should be hidden from prying eyes.
As soon as you peeled the envelope open, you were met with the two items it contained. A small flower, pressed flat from the journey from Nod krai to Mondstad,t and a letter which was perfectly sealed with Lohen’s official Knights of Favonius wax seal. The image of a little rabbit holding a shield and an archery bow, raised and colored with a highlight of silver.
The flower’s petals ranged from shades of pink to blue with a little bit of white. A small yellow center stuck out from the wrapped petals. Unsure of what type of flower it is, you gently set it on your table. Reaching for the letter, you carefully peel the wax off the paper, making sure not to tear it. Unfolding the letter, you could finally see what Lohen had written.
‘My dearest, Y/n,
Upon writing this letter, I have received two of the letters you have sent. I apologize for taking so long to reply or even notify you of my arrival. We were buried in work from the moment we arrived, and it took us four months to even get the keep here set up. Varka informed me of your letters to him, which truly made me feel terrible for leaving you without any information.
I am unable to explain a lot of what we have been tasked with. Most of what is public information is what you are already aware of. But what is true is that no matter how busy I am, I have failed you by not making sure I have time to write you. Even though I write this letter while out in the field between the carefully planned attacks against our enemies.
Before you begin to worry even more, I am physically unharmed. These monsters, while difficult opponents in battle, don’t stand a chance against me. Thankfully, the knights I approved to join the expedition aren’t as incompetent as I at first worried. I’m sure we will complete our mission soon enough, and I can return to you.
Along with this letter is a Frostlamp Flower. It reminded me of you. It’s vibrant color shining out in the night. Every time I see one, I use it as a chance to be reminded of my love back at home (you). It helps me keep morale high even on the most difficult days.
I hope you are not as lonely without me as I am without you. I miss our dates, you patching me up after I fight Lupus Boreas or any other monsters, hell- I miss seeing you. Varka keeps teasing me whenever he sees me writing this letter.
I fear I must bring this letter to a close, or else I would write for eternity. I promise I am reading your letters and will try my best to respond soon.
I love you.
Yours, Lohen’
He kept his promise. Slowly but surely, a few letters made their way from Lohen’s desk in Nod Krai to your hands. While he wasn’t able to write often, he tried to make the letters he could send count. Each time you received one, you counted your blessings from Barbatos.
More time had passed, and the knights had been away for over two years when Varka’s letter for you arrived. This time, it had a date listed, so you knew when he had written it. It had been four months since Lohen’s last letter, which worried you, as he had tried to send letters once every three months. What scared you more was that Varka wrote to you instead of your partner. When you noticed that, you feared the worst had happened.
Jean offered to be alongside you when you read the letter. While you both weren’t particularly close, she was the best support you had given her, working with Lohen in the knights. However, even with her presence, it didn’t make your heart feel any less heavy.
‘Dear Ms Y/n,
I am writing to inform you of an unfortunate incident that took place last week involving Vice Captain Lohen. Before I begin, he asked me to let you know that he is alive. However, that doesn’t take away from the extent of his injuries.
Last week, Lohen had to be removed from the battlefield after receiving nearly deadly wounds when fighting the Rächer of Solnari. I myself was the one to discover him after he had fallen unconscious.
He has since been in the healer’s tent, where he finally woke up after five days of intensive healing treatment. He remains there today recovering from his wounds.
I will continue to update when possible. Or Lohen will send a letter himself if he stops moping around like a depressed puppy. The Honorary Knight has been helping us here in Nod Krai. I am optimistic about the outcome of our mission.
Best,
Grandmaster Varka’
When you finished reading the letter out loud, Jean came over and rested a reassuring hand on your shoulder. You stared at the letter, the paper slowly crumpling along the edges of your tightening grip.
Not saying anything, Jean opted to fill the silence. “I’m sure he’s ok. Vice Captain Lohen is resilient and a formidable knight. It sounds like he’s in good and capable hands.” She comforts. You don’t reply, your hair falling in front of your face.
After a while, Jean is called away. You take that as your sign to go home for the night. The walk home is long, quiet, and haunting. The absence of Lohen hung heavy over your head. But remaining steadfast while he fought in Nod Krai was the only thing you could do.
Eventually, more time passed, and you hadn’t heard anything since Varka’s letter three months ago. You’d never admit it to his face, but you missed Lohen’s teasing and his restlessness. You both bonded over your inability to stay still and the need to constantly be doing something to better yourself.
However, your sulking and reminiscing on your relationship with your lover didn’t last much longer. One day in the late spring, you awoke to the sound of cheering and celebrating roaring through the streets of Dornman Port.
Rising out of bed, you slipped your day clothes on and headed to your main floor in the house. Looking out the windows, you noticed people not just walking, but running towards something. It caught your eye enough to make you go outside and ask someone what’s going on.
“They’re back! Our knights are back!!” The older woman cried out before swiftly continuing towards the docks. It took you a few seconds to actually process what she had said before you followed right after her.
Approaching the docks, you see the same ship that you saw off three years ago, slowly sailing towards Dornman Port. The large wooden vessel is close enough that you can make out the Knights of Favonius seal along its edges. You tried to get closer, but the number of people made it difficult to even get on the docks at all.
As the ship drew closer, you could start to make out heads over the sides. Six or so knights were waving to the hoard of people you found yourself in before drawing back to their positions. Watching to see if Lohen would appear, you didn’t notice the anchor being lifted over the edge and dropped into the waters below.
Ropes were tossed to men on the docks to slowly draw the boat into a position that would allow for disembarking. Once the boat was in position, a ramp was set up to unload equipment and belongings. However, despite seeing the Grandmaster himself, you still didn’t see your Lohen.
“Did you miss me? Or should I go back for another three years?” He asks teasingly. You lightly hit his chest before grabbing his face and kissing him. Your arms found their rightful place around his neck as he held your face with his right hand, gently rubbing your cheek with his thumb.
Pulling back, he stared at you as if it were his first time seeing you all over again. “Archons, I missed you so much. It was terribly boring not having someone I could mess with as much as you.” Lohen jokes. “I have some of my stuff on the ship. I’m still a bit out of it from my injuries, so if you could help me unloa,d that would be great.” He asked before you both walked towards the ship.
After unloading everything and getting Lohen home, you both found yourselves settled and happily back in each other’s embrace. Sure, you wanted to ask him what happened in Nod Krai, and ask about every single detail of the expedition. But none of that mattered now that your Lohen was finally home.
Author note: So fun fact, Tumblr decided to completely delete 60% of this one shot when I first tried to write it. So I had to spend an entire afternoon rewriting the ending! Currently I have a few more one shots planned before I attempt to put together any concept of a masterlist post. But until then, I hope you guys enjoy <3
Summary: While in Nod-Krai you and Lohen are both put onto Night Watch. What was supposed to be a peaceful night was interrupted by a weird noise coming from the woods. While investigating, some Fatui Agents kidnap you and take you hostage.

Being in Nod-Krai was far from easy when compared to regular daily activities in Mondstadt. The environment is difficult to move across and full of monsters that wouldn’t hesitate to kill you. Back at home, you would only really need to deal with the occasional hillichurl camp, but here? Here, there is more than monsters. There are killing machines roaming, fatui agents stalking the knight’s every move, and the wild hunt always breathing down your necks.
Of course, over the six-year-long expedition, you got used to such threats. Being a part of the fifth company, unfortunately, meant that you rarely got into the dirty and gruesome parts of battle. But you didn’t particularly mind. The meat heads who charged in without a sense of hesitation were the ones routinely receiving healing in the medical tents. However, on the rare occasion you did have to go out on patrols, do night watch, or attend to some other type of mundane task.
Of course, you found yourself experiencing the latter today. To make things worse, it was one of the coldest nights of the year. Not to mention your uniform was barely enough to keep you warm during normal temperatures, being so close to Schneznaya meant you didn’t stand a chance.
“Man, this shit sucks. Why did we get stuck with night watch? Nothing ever happens!” You hear a whine come from behind you. The fifth company’s Vice-Captain, Lohen, was also assigned to night watch with you. Not because it was a normal part of his schedule, but because Varka was trying to keep him from sneaking away and attacking random monsters. The dusty, green-haired man always was finding a way to get himself into trouble. Normally, this would bother any other ordinary soldier. Having your vice-captain right next to you for hours would be enough to make anyone nervous. But the relationship between Lohen and yourself wasn’t ordinary.
Back in Mondstadt, you and Lohen joined the knights around the same time. Training alongside each other, you saw how much skill and talent he has. You guys became friends after you agreed to spar with him after he went around asking all the other recruits to fight. Everyone else was sick of them getting their butts kicked, so they turned down the offer. But you stepped up to the plate and gave Lohen the fight he was looking for. He’d never admit it to anyone, but you did beat him a few times.
After being selected for the fifth company, you and Lohen remained close friends. You both went out on missions together, and you both were even stationed in Dornman Port together for a while. Eventually, over time, it blossomed into a relationship between you both. But you agreed to keep things professional when at headquarters. Though a few knights were suspicious after seeing you and Lohen walk home together on more than one occasion. Soon after, he was promoted to vice-captain and then assigned to evaluate knights for the Nod-Krai expedition. Which is what led to you both now being far from home in a land full of monsters and people who want to kill you.
You laugh softly to yourself before turning back to face Lohen. “Well, if someone wasn’t so hell-bent on escaping camp every night, then maybe Grand Master Varka would have let you have your nights to yourself. This is simply the consequence of your own actions. Plus, who says night watch can’t be fun?” You reply. A playful glint in your eyes that doesn’t go unnoticed by Lohen. He gives you a confused yet intrigued look that you knew all too well. “Surely we can find some way to keep ourselves busy. Maybe we could spar?” You suggest.
Lohen’s eyes get an excited shimmer to them as he stands and pulls his dagger out. Walking over to you, he starts tossing the small knife in his hand. He catches the knife and uses the pointed edge to lift your chin so your eyes meet his. “Careful. Those words can get you into a lot of trouble, my love.” You simply roll your eyes. “Though, maybe you’re looking for trouble?” You swear his eyes almost glow, and appear a brighter red than they naturally are. He barely starts leaning in for a kiss when, in the distance, the sound of crackling caught both you and Lohen’s attention.
You pull away from each other and look over into the dark of the forest during the night. “I’ll go and investigate. Stay here and watch the entrance.” You tell Lohen. Before he could protest, you were already up and grabbing your sword and reattaching it to your person. “If I seem to be taking too long, come look for me.” You instruct him. “Plus, I don’t think Grand Master Varka would appreciate it if I let you run off and escape during what’s supposed to be a punishment shift.” You tease.
Lohen leans back against the post of the entrance gate. “Ughhh, fine. It’s probably nothing anyway.” He puts his arms up and sighs in defeat. “Just be careful.” He adds before you begin making your way through the woods. “Always.” You assure him with a nod.
Walking in the direction of the noise, you notice the ground has been recently moved over. Looking at the path the imprints took, you notice human-sized footsteps and wheels of a cart. ‘Moving a cart this late at night?’ You think to yourself. ‘Merchants don’t pass through this area. What’s going on?’ You continue following the trail further into the woods. Soon enough, the torches around camp were too far for your eyes to see.
Trekking even further into the woods, you discover a wooden cart that was seemingly abandoned. Something wasn’t right, and you knew it. Despite every bone in your body telling you to go get Lohen for backup, you continued to investigate. Both curiosity and responsibility to do your job took over as you made your way to the cart. Upon your initial inspection, nothing seemed off about it. You circle the enclosed cart and eventually make your way to the back end, where a curtain hides the cargo.
Lifting the curtain, you discover boxes of some kind of light purple powder. You lift the curtain further to investigate, but a hand on your shoulder interrupts you. Immediately, you turn around and are face-to-face with a young woman in traditional Schneznayan clothing. “Ummm, hello? I’m y/n with the Knights of Favonius. Can I help you?” You introduce yourself.
Before you get a response, the woman quickly raises her hand and blows something in your face. “Gahh! What the fuck!?” You shout, reaching for your sword. Almost immediately, you feel a wave of dizziness take over, which knocks you to your knees. “Wha- what is this?” You ask. The feeling getting even more intense as you try and fight to stay conscious. The woman doesn’t say anything. However, you do notice multiple other people, Fatui Agents, you realize, walking out from the shadows. Before you can say anything else, you succumb to the poison and pass out.
-
A little while later, you wake up to find yourself tied up and in a makeshift cage of sorts. “Ah, you’re finally awake.” You hear the agent’s voice call out before he makes himself visible. “You were out for quite a while. Didn’t realize the grounded up Moonfall Silver would be that powerful. Especially against a knight such as yourself,” He mocks. Looking around at your surroundings, you notice dark sand below you, and looking up at a giant and terrifying metal dome is all the information you need to figure out where you are.
Looking around your immediate location, you’re being held at. To the right, you see boxes full of that Moonfall Silver Powder. To your left, there are tents for the agents to sleep in. Directly in front of you is a small campfire with three men and one female Fatui agent sitting, drinking what you can only assume is beer and gnawing away at giant legs of meat.
‘Ok, ok- remember training.’ You think to yourself. Adjusting from a sitting to a kneeling position, you begin to try to untie your restraints. Thankfully, it was only ropes holding your limbs together, which you’ve practiced getting out of more times than you could count. Sadly, your fidgeting got the attention of your captors.
“Hey, quiet in there!” One shouts while making his way over to the cage. He grabs the bars of the cage and analyses your restraints. “Oh, what do we have here? Someone is trying to weasel out of their ropes!” He yells loud enough for the rest of his crew to hear.
Reaching out, he pulls the cage open and grabs your hair. “Come here. I’m gonna make ya quiet, you disgusting rat.” He announces. He begins to lift your arm at a painful angle. But before your feet fully leave the ground, you push off and ram your shoulder into him. The shock of the impact causes him to loosen his grip enough for you to slip out and make a dash for your vision, which was sitting on a nearby crate.
“Argh, get back here, you fucking wench!” He shouts while rushing towards you. He lifts his large hammer to swing down on you right as you get close enough to your vision to grab it. Once the small red glass item is in your hand, you swing your body around and send out large flames to meet his hammer. The man stumbles back to protect himself from the fire. Shielding his face, you use it as a chance to prepare for your next attack.
What you didn’t see was the female Fatui agent loading bullets into her rifle. “Ha- weren’t expecting that, huh?!-” Your gloating got cut off short by the sound of a gun firing right in your direction. Before you could even process what was happening, the bullet makes contact with your thigh, making you lose your balance and fall onto your knees. You immediately reach down to the injury due to the pain. When you bring your hands back up, they’re soaked in blood and very quickly becoming numb.
You quickly are brought back to reality when a heavy fist makes contact with your jaw, sending you onto your back. A groan leaves your mouth as you curl over in anguish. “Serves you right! Now we definitely aren’t gonna leave you alive. Boss will be disappointed we didn’t get your friend, but maybe your head on a pike will make up for it!” The man declares before stomping over to you.
Thick hands grab your upper arm tightly as he lifts you into the air again. This time, you can’t help but let out a whimper in pain. Not having the strength to really fight back, he rips your vision from you and throws it into the fire. The blood loss begins to catch up to you as your ears start ringing and everything becomes fuzzy. But you suddenly notice everyone looking in the direction your back is facing.
Not being able to turn and see, you just spend your energy fighting to stay conscious. However, your curiosity is satisfied when you see a small silver and blue dagger land itself into the shoulder of the agent holding you. The shock causes him to drop you, and you crumple to the ground in pain. The Fatuis around you get ready to fight the attacker. You don’t look, but you hear Lohen announcing his arrival.
“It appears you have something- or well, someone who happens to belong to me. I appreciate, like really, that you guys would do me such a big favor of watching her for me. Unfortunately, that does mean I have to kill you- but that’s just how these things just turn out.” He says mockingly. Pulling out his pole arm, he uses his vision to infuse it with cryo energy. “Oh yeah? Who says we want to give her back in one piece?” One of the other male Fatui Agents asks. Lohen’s eyes falter for a second, and he looks over to your barely conscious body.
“Well, men, and ma’am, that isn’t an outcome I would find particularly appealing to anyone here. Let’s get this over with, shall we? I’ve been wanting to kill some of you guys for days now!” Lohen challenges before charging at the agents. By now, your vision is so blurry that all you can see is bright bursts of cryo energy and Lohen’s light dusty green hair rushing through the camp.
One after another, he goes after the agents. Switching between his pole arm and knives, he takes them out one by one. They drop like flies, as if they ever possibly could stand a chance against the Vice Captain. The one who got hit with his dagger rips it from his shoulder. Staggering over to you, he uses his uninjured arm to grab your hair and hold your head up while weakly holding the dagger to your throat.
“Oh, I’ll see you in hell, you bit-” The man is cut off by the tip of Lohen’s pole arm piercing through his chest. The blood starts dribbling onto you as you see his eyes roll back. “You’ll have to do some waiting if you want the chance to see her.” You hear Lohen say calmly. Using his polearm, he pushes the man to the side so his body falls over you.
He quickly moves towards you to hold your head up. “Are you ok?” He asks. You can see his chest heaving up and down in exhaustion. By this point, the blood loss is so extensive that you were barely awake. You feel Lohen lightly shaking you as you drift off. Allowing the warm fuzzy black abyss to swallow you. You hear the faintness of Lohen’s voice as he talks to you, not that you could really respond. You simply allow nature to run its course, accepting whatever the archons had planned.

You’re woken up by a bright light shining into your eyes. Slowly, you flutter your eyelids open and are immediately blinded by the sunrise. After allowing your pupils to adjust, you cautiously begin looking around. You saw tables with men and women lying down, bandaged up, some covered in a thin white sheet. Moving around were nurses and medics moving swiftly between what you assumed were patients. You recognized some of them from the church back in Mondstadt. Others you assumed were from Nod-Krai and came to assist with the wounded and dead.
“Oh! Miss Y/n, you’re awake!” A short blonde nurse exclaims excitedly. Her high-pitched voice made you realize how much your head was pounding. She moves over to your bedside. “Lo-erm, I mean, we were so worried about you. You’ve been asleep for nearly three weeks! Though you should be able to go back to your own personal quarters now that you’ve woken up.” She explains. All you could do was faintly stare at her in confusion as you try and speak. “W-what happened? Did I get injured by the Wild Hunt?” You softly ask, your voice hoarse from not being used. The nurse grabs a clipboard next to you and begins flipping through pages. “I uhh- let me check real quick-” She says, unsure of what exactly happened to you.
“Miss Y/n’s awake?!” A taller, black-haired woman asks. “I’ll go get Sir Lohen; he’s been here every single day, so I’m sure he’ll want to see her.” She says before basically sprinting out the door. The blonde nurse finally finds the page with the explanation. “Here it is! Oh- it just says that you were brought in by Lohen with a few broken ribs, a gunshot to the thigh, a dislocated shoulder, and a concussion. Weird, usually it says what happen-” The poor girl was once again cut off by the sound of quick steps and a curtain being thrown open.
Behind the curtain is Lohen. His face is a mixture of relief and surprise when he sees you. The blonde nurse quickly stands up and rushes out of the room. “I’ll give you both some privacy.” She announces before sliding closed a curtain around your bed for privacy.
Lohen wastes no time rushing over to your bedside and kissing you. It wasn’t one of the normal kisses you were used to by any means. It was full of tenderness and was uncharacteristically gentle for Lohen. He readjusted his face, and his hand slowly rose to cup your cheek. Lightly rubbing his thumb back and forth, you separated. You see his eye contact falter for a second, and a tight blush appears on his face. “Don’t tell me I made that big and bad Lohen blush now,” you tease.
Rolling his eyes, a slight smile appears as he pitifully tries to hide it. He pulls his hand away from your face. “Who, me? Nah, I don’t blush from simply kissing my partner. Ah-um ahem, speaking of, how-uh how are you feeling?” He rushes out the last few words quickly. Almost like he was impatient to hear your answer.
“I feel fine or well, as fine as I could given the situation. Better now that you’re here, Lo.” You explain comfortingly. Lohen lets out a sigh as if he’s had the weight of the world on his shoulders. Unbeknownst to you, it basically was to him. He swallows before speaking. “I’m sorry I wasn’t there to protect you. I should’ve gotten there faster so I could beat those guys to a pulp. Hell, I should’ve been the one to go out to the woods so I could’ve fought them sooner. You were gone for so long, I knew something had happened. Then one of the Fatui agents left their mask behind- I followed their trail to get to you as fast as I could.” He tells you. You notice him start to space out. Since his fight with Rerir a while ago, he has been really being hard on himself. You were sure that’s why he was acting so ashamed.
You reach out to his hand. “Lo, it’s ok. I’m the one who told you to wait for me to get back. Frankly, I should’ve been prepared to be ambushed like that. Surely Varka will have me do more training once I’m cleared for work.” You let out a groan in frustration. “But until then, all I get to do is sit around on my ass and heal. I wonder what poor soul is going to be stuck sparing with you.” You tease.
He crosses his arms and looks away. “Oh shut up, you. You already gave me a big enough scare. Plus, Varka said I could take a day or two off to make sure you’re doing ok- well, he told me I was going to. Not that I’m complaining! Just saying someone may or may not owe me a few sparing matches when they recover.” He complains jokingly.
“The nurse said I can go home today. So I suppose that’s the next step here.” You explain. “So at least that’s a step in the right direction.” Without a second to process what Lohen was doing, you felt his arms go under your back and behind your knees, lifting you like a princess. Despite it hurting slightly, you did your best to enjoy being in your lover’s arms again.
“Then why wait? Let’s get you out of this depressing medical tent.”
Author note: Hey guys!! First post here on my Tumblr account :D I'll probably post an introduction that will include rules, an about me, a masterlist, and anything else I might think to add later on. It depends on how much I actually end up posting. I'm new to writing fanfiction and would greatly appreciate your patience as I learn to adapt to different character personalities and as I develop my own writing style.

You always got home before Lohen did. This wasn't because you worked less; you just preferred to go to your family's bakery early in the morning rather than stay late preparing orders. One of the good parts of this difference in schedules is that it gave you a chance to get comfortable before your partner came home.
Resting on your couch, your cat softly purred quietly in your lap while you read a book from the Knights of Favonius Library. It was a tranquil way that you spent many of your afternoons after work. However, this silence was brought to an end by the sound of a doorknob jiggling while being unlocked.
"Hi, Lo!" You say cheerfully. But after looking at the state Lohen was in, you realized it probably wasn't the time for playfulness. He looked like a mess. He was covered in dust and dirt and clearly exhausted. Anyone else's partner would have freaked out seeing their fiancé come home in such a state. But you? You've been with Lohen long enough to accept that this is part of the norm. So, you let out a quiet sigh and stood up.
"Oh, you poor thing, you must be exhausted. Here, let me help you." You said while walking over towards Lohen. "Tough day? Did you get in trouble with Jean again?" You ask, not entirely expecting a response. Normally, the more gross he comes home, the better of a day he had, but today felt different.
Your expectation was correct. He remained quiet. But as you tried walking away to go fiddle with something else in the kitchen, you feel a hand snake around your waist. Lohen pulled you in and, resting his head on your shoulder, positioned your back to him while you stood in front of him.
After a few moments of silence, you feel Lohen raise his head off of you. This action was quickly followed by a peck on your cheek and Lohen letting his arms fall from your body. "Ahh, I missed you. To answer your question, no. I did not clear out camps. That's for the rookies to do before they start their training for today! I decided to mess with their equipment beforehand. You should've seen them panic when they couldn't find their bullets!" He said excitedly. "Even when they did, their muskets backfired and blew gunpowder right into their faces! That'll teach them to check their gear before firing." He explains, clearly proud of himself.
You quickly realize his whole sad puppy act was just that, an act. So you return his playful energy. "Oh yeah? Seems like someone should rest after working so hard. Who would be there to make their lives a living hell-I mean, hold them accountable- if you don't take care of yourself, hmm?" You tease as you wipe some of the dirt off his clothing. You yourself weren't a knight, but you saw how much Lohen pushed his crew. While his methods were...unconventional...you did see the method to his madness. Even if his subordinates didn't.
“Yeah, I suppose you mayyyy be right about that. On the bright side, being at home means I get to spend my afternoon with the most beautiful woman in Mondstadt. I suppose I would sacrifice an entire evening of monster hunting for that.” He smugly replied. Lifting your left hand, he admires the engagement ring he gave you. “Then again, I’d also kill all the monsters in Teyvat if it means you’d even glance my way.” He flirts. He was teasing, but you know he actually meant it.
Gently, he guides you back towards the couch. You both sit and get comfortable. Though that doesn’t last long before Lohen pulls you onto his lap. “Aha, much better. What do you say?” He teases. His arms find themselves perfectly on your waist. “Now I can do this-” he cuts himself off by pulling you into a gentle kiss.

AHHH, thanks so much for reading. I mostly write these drabbles as a warm-up before I work on my longer piece I have in the works. As I get better, I may open up requests or spread to other characters. I'm sure the more comfortable and confident I get in my writing, the longer these drabbles/one-shots will be :)
