I honestly thought this whole race changing discourse existed solely on shifttok which is one of the biggest reasons I’ve left it and moved onto shiftblr, but I was very quickly proven wrong (though it’s nowhere near the same extent as shifttok, I can say that at least).
I say this as a person of color (asian and african), but the concept of race “changing” being racist never made sense to me and I’ve always felt that to oppose it would be to misunderstand shifting as a whole. This reality is not the blueprint. This reality and its morals are not the default nor are they objective to every possible reality existing. If someone with blue or purple skin faces prejudice in another reality (and they do), then why is it okay to shift as those races unfamiliar to us in this reality? What makes those realities less real to you than this current one? How do you expect to detach yourself from this reality and shift if you treat it as the blueprint? People who are against it like to argue that race changing is purely motivated by fetishization, but then their idea of fetishizing is USUALLY (!!!!!) just liking certain features about a race. But I also do believe that intention matters. I have multiple face claims and two of them happen to be of races that I am not in THIS reality (one indian, one white). The way I went about this was quite literally just by scrolling through photos of face claims on pinterest and picking out the ones whom I thought were prettiest or fit my dr self’s vibe most without thinking about the race of any of the girls i scrolled through because.. it doesn’t matter? If she’s pretty, she’s pretty. Not everyone constantly has a person’s race on their mind like you do, and that’s why a lot of us want to shift to a reality where shit like that doesn’t matter. ESPECIALLY as a person of color where I see white people taking offense on my behalf and treating my entire race as if we’re so fragile, throwing around the word racism so loosely as if someone experiencing a preexisting version of themselves in another reality actively harms us when we’re being persecuted everyday of our lives. Yes, right now we’re from a place where race is much heavier than we wish it was, and that’s the reason why I say intention matters. Instead of constantly policing other people’s drs, can we just utilize the shifting community for its intended purpose which is.. to actually shift
