If you had five billion you could hop from job to job, calling entitled customers idiots all across your city, putting the fear of You into every shithead in town until people become afraid to be rude to servers and cashiers, lest you emerge from the back room like some kind of manners-enforcing specter
Just to clear things up.
I would never suggest putting those links in a reply so they can be accessed from tumblr.
I have no idea what any of this is all about. But here’s some links for no real reason: twitter thread with links to resources in replies ICE detention facility locator
Interfaith detention center visitation project
I would never reblog this purposefully. Sometimes my hand slips.
I would never take a baby to one of these protests for Emphasis.
I would never ever suggest people reblog this and share with interested parties. Never.
If you dislike an actor because of a character they played that you hated, they’re a pretty damn good actor
See: That nigga who played Joffrey. He can’t ever act again now. He’ll forever be attached to that role.
Thor, at Loki’s funeral: Can I have a moment alone with them?
Steve: Of course *leaves*
Thor, leaning over Loki’s coffin: Now listen, I know you’re not dead.
Loki: Yeah no shit

Artist Carves Wooden Rope Sculpture From a Tree Trunk
Artist Maskull Lasserre indulges in sculptural practice that strikes a delicate balance between hard-edged industrial media and a delicately poetic resolve, blending the two beautifully.

Americans can literally make the most harmless joke about Brits and they feelings get so touched like!
It’s because they’re seriously still not over the Revolutionary War
us: you say things funny
them: you remember all the innocent children that died in school shootings bc your government is corrupt and you’re powerless to change it? think before you speak next time sweaty :)
I mean but are they wrong tho? Lmao
the problem isn’t that they’re wrong it’s that they’re completely out of pocket and trying to be holier than thou as if their country wasn’t the leader of genocide and imperialism for actual centuries……it’s cognitive dissonance and being unnecessarily insensitive for what? no reason
Except we cleaned up our act. We got rid of guns, slavery, and most of the bad stuff. Good luck catching up eaglefuckers!
damn tell that to all those black and brown countries that’s irrevocably shaken by the British empire I’m sure they’d like to hear the news 👍🏾
@lunaaltare Amazingly enough, my ancestors worked in coal mines and in farms whilst the political élite were out colonising. So what have we done that’s of value? Well, I’m Welsh so of course my political hero is Nye Bevan, a figurehead of British Sovialism, who was instrumental in creating a national health service. This morning, I went to see a GP for a persistent cough, I was prescribed an inhaler and an antibiotic, and the whole thing cost me precisely nothing. To be blunt, if I may, the US is killing its own citizens by failing them on healthcare, and other issues like failure over gun reform. If this is the rhetoric we’re using, there’s certainly no ‘holier than thou’ comparison to be made there.
What else is there?
Well, we give US$18.7bn in foreign aid - that’s .67% of our GNI (compared to the US’ .15%). Call it a guilty conscience if you will, but in the end it can only be a good thing. We’re certainly not there yet, but we’re doing better than the United States on economic equality according to the OECD. The government has also undertaken feasibility studies for an index of racial equality, which I think would be a really important step. Again, no such progress that I know of from the US.
I want to make clear that Britons (and in particular young Britons) feel a great deal of shame over the Empire and Imperialism. We’re taught in school about the partition of India (and the subsequent deaths of about one million and the displacement of 15 million), the Boer concentration camps and the Mau Mau uprising et al. Meanwhile, I’m concerned that the US isn’t doing so well in this regard. In the US, we’re seeing institutionally racist institutions holding great sway over government. Ours certainly isn’t perfect, but apologists for white supremacy (people like Jeff Sessions) seem to hold influence at a national level. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m not certain that the numerous instances of US imperialism and aggression are even taught in US schools.
Maybe there is a kind of ‘small man syndrome’ involved here: we’re very aware that the US, post-1945 is an incredibly powerful and influential country to which we are subservient in many ways, particularly in investment and in foreign policy. I don’t think you can particularly blame us for wanting the high ground over the US where we can! If that’s achieved in an insensitive way sometimes, I can only apologise - however, as you’re well aware, talk is cheap and accusations against the other country can fly for days. In the end, I know that we’re more similar than we are different, and that we cannot be held responsible for the (so often abhorrent) history of our country, but we can strive for a better one.
imma let you know that i didn’t read most of this also this has literally nothing to do with the original point I presented so I suggest the brits start spending more money on the education system since y’all clearly have no reading comprehension
