“What torture it is to hold on to reason as desire intensifies.”
— Belén Gopegui, The Scale of Maps, trans. Mark Schafer (via proustitute)
“I want to be loved unreasonably by an unreasonable love because we’ve nearly drowned in the poison of reasonable loving, reasonable liking, reasonable living, reasonable essays, reasonable art and reasonable political discourse.”
— Kiese Laymon (via thesmithian)
“Weak desires protect you from disappointment. But nothing keeps you safer than being a visible ruin.”
— Fanny Howe, Indivisible. (via batarde)
There was a time I was envious of my friends earning 6figures and anxious on falling behind, literally earning the least among all my friends. But now I am at peace with it and appreciative of living with a relaxed pace. There are people who are meant to grind, and there are those who would prefer some free time everyday.
Indeed, it would be a real eye-opener to many, and it is very important that we learn its lessons. Work - Life - Balance is very important... Work hard but still fixate on taking care of yourself. Enjoy the purpose of money and spend your hard earned money to recharge and unwind. Contentment is real deal.
Its scary when you dedicate yourself and body to something you want, dream, goal, etc.... Its normal but never ever forget to enjoy your life and take some rest ... because if you don't, someday you'll just realize you just lost yourself... Burnout, depression, anxiety, unhealthy body etc... It will really took you some time to recover.
I can't blame someone who desires for more, maybe there's a reason to why they work hard so much. Maybe they were paying a huge debt? They were the breadwinner of the family? (Being in a sandwich generation is so sad). They just simply love what they do. But being addicted to it and loosing yourself is NOT GOOD.
Seeing this kind of post is very alarming as a freelancer many are asking me to how I enter in this industry because what they know is that you can earn 6-digits plus you can be working anytime and anywhere. I tell you, 6-digits income is possible but "flexibility" or comfortable is not really true. The higher money you get, the more client you have the more sacrifice you need. Those freelancers hyping other people to transition, please please be true to them. Also, let's face the reality being a VA is not for all.
I saw this post in Linkedin "If you can do 8hrs for others there is no reason for you not to do at least 2hrs for yourself." Have a life, check your family, your relationships, and your health. Money is a tool to achieve what we want in our life, but without the life itself we cannot achieve anything. It's just so sad that somehow we forgot ourselves.
Lastly, I hope, if you see someone working so hard, day to night, and little by little they were achieving their dreams, buying those things they wanted, travelling to their dream destinations.... PLEASE, that is NOT the reason for you to ASK them MONEY. They were not an ATM that anytime you can ask for money. If they help you once or twice be thankful "it won't hurt to appreciate them". They will appreciate as well if you will use that help, to help yourself as well, to improve your life.
If I were to generalize, I think one of society’s biggest goals in life is to be happy – and many have misunderstood it to be a final event that’s influenced by how much money we have. And so, we go to great lengths to make money. As someone who was raised in poverty, I resonate with this idea and understand the importance of hard work, especially if you’re underprivileged.
Nevertheless, regardless of our positions, many of us will slave away to make more money for most of our lives. We understand that it provides security, and many also believe that it creates freedom in the form of happiness. While money gives us options, we often learn that despair remains a prevalent theme throughout our lives, regardless of our bank balance.
Hustle culture has put great emphasis on hard work, to the extent many will neglect their well-being to raise activity, even if it doesn’t lead to greater productivity. And our biggest compromise is sleep.
Without sleep, we can be around but not alert or fully present (which is dangerous during activities like biking). Furthermore, sleep deprivation increases anxiety, stress, mental health problems, respiratory issues, weight gain, and other health risks (e.g. diabetes and heart disease). Healing, rejuvenation and high vibrations are pretty difficult without quality sleep. A lack of sleep hinders your ability to manifest a flamboyant life and flourish as you are.
You may think sleep is costly, but a lack of sleep is even more expensive. So many of us are saving for a future that isn’t guaranteed by giving up rest. However, a lack of sleep inhibits creativity and productivity – and often takes us away from the present moment, which is the only time we experience. And it comes with risk. For example, if you manage to make it to a future event you saved up for, you may not be able to enjoy it at the capacity you wanted, due to poor health. Or you might have to use the money you saved on improving your health.
So here’s your reminder to make essential rest and recovery a priority, not just the things you consume and build into your routines.
You should outsource the tasks. It can be a smart way to take care of yourself while still delivering exceptional results for your clients. You'll have the space to focus on self-care and recharge, which will ultimately make you better in the long run.
I’ve been freelancing for 3 years and also earning 6-digits, but the greatest lesson I have learned in my freelancing journey is not to get as much clients as I can to hit the salary that I dream — it’s to find the perfect ones. If I can get my goal salary with just 2 clients, I will.
Yung sobrang daming clients is not really a flex. That just means you have little time. And that you have to work so much to earn a lot. Work smart, not hard — yan palagi ang mantra ko.
I only have 1 FT and 1 PT. First half pa lang ng day, tapos na ako sa tasks ko. I didn’t only get the salary I want, I got the time freedom I want to enjoy the lifestyle that I desire.
Money is just a tool. It’s easy to get lost when you have so much of it. Be mindful and intentional with what you do with it and learn what to prioritize.
Kasalanan ulit ng pera? Pera lang naman iyan. It won't change you, it will only amplify what you already are—which is insecure.
You see greed. I see insecurity. It's the greatest disease na you need to cure. Yung feeling na you are not enough so you think that winning and having more than your peers will make you feel great about yourself, you feel big, you feel valued & you feel important. Na it will fill that hole in your heart. Na-manifest mo lang through money so you thought it's a lesson about money, it's not. Kasi kahit gumaling ka na at hindi mo na habulin yung pera, hindi ibig sabihin hindi ka na insecure. It will manifest again in a different way if hindi mo talagang na fix ang root.
Have self-awareness. Know the root by knowing yourself. Remember that everything that you do, every choice you make every single day is a manifestation of your self-image.
