Two New Ideas

I am working on two new accords and hope to build fragrances around them!

1: Black Tea / Cashmere

goals:

looking for materials with dark, leafy, mildly aromatic, and even jammy notes

float these over a base of mostly musk dimethyl indane and indanone (woolly base)

keep top notes transparent

change:

potential room for ketone excess here (damascones or ionones)

could add a honey accord?

2: Beach Sand

goals:

combine materials with cucumber/gourd notes, earthy notes, and sweet/salty marine notes to create a very mild beach fragrance

keep:

musk-heavy amber accord with discreet coumarin works best here

change:

geosmin did not work here and can be saved for a cucumber garden or freshwater fragrance

try different floralizers to create dampness

works well on people who smell metallic/salty and might need metallic materials to increase versatility

relatively few fruity, aromatic, or fresh aspects, making it a little more dry and flat than most ocean-themed fragrances

05/06 Orange Caramel Longevity Test

Today, I tested the performance of the orange caramel fragrance over time.

Timeline

1 hour - Orange blossom and white florals should dominate, but are currently drowned out a little by the cocoa/honey

2 hours - florals are weaker, spices and aromatics from amber should dominate but are also drowned out by cocoa/honey

6 + hours - cocoa notes remains dominant, aromatic and resinous aspects of amber accord are limited

Notes for Next Time

Test ethylvanillin and benzyl phenylacetate performance together, then with ethylmaltol

Based on test results, reduce benzyl phenylacetate or other honey/sugar chemicals

Reduce sugary ingredients in amber accord

Test performance of orange blossom with additional phenylethyl alcohol, or additional phenyl hexanol
