Something I wrote on the train earlier
you and your sister - milo
Nearly everything I've written for the past four years was just saying the same thing over and over again differently.
In reincarnation matter is not created or destroyed. It is a fermenting apple fallen from the front yard tree, it is the soil mulch it becomes growing the next apple on its branch. It is made of cycles and closed loops. Reincarnation is an airplane in the sky which will never land.
There are smaller reincarnations, though. The memory of something so strong it aches your jaw? The heavy heart heaving blood across its body even after the running was done? The ghosts in that blood, the people you never became seven years ago? There are loops within these loops. The circles are more than circles.
I started cooking only a few years ago. The first thing I ever made was bread. Challah bread, and it was warm and motherly and raisin-filled. But the first thing I remember cooking was ciabatta. Me and mine would tear off hunks of loaf with our hands and stain our mouths red with laughter and vinegar. I am no longer theirs and they are no longer mine but that is my memory of them and I. My memory of that life is one where I knead the dough and bake the bread and laugh with them over and over.
All this is to tell you that every poem I write has been the same for four years, over and over, smelling like plastic armrests and ginger ale. It is all just saying in newer and stranger ways that I love you. I love you, I hope we both eat well.
Based on Vanessa Vaselka’s truck stop killer piece
i can't help but flinch at compliments. i feel uncomfortable when people love me loudly, love me well, love me at all. i feel uncomfortable because it's all i've ever wanted. desire fills my lungs like water. i try to breathe through it but find it impossible. i want to be beautiful. wanted. but i fear it is my desire that makes me unlovable. i am on my hands and knees begging to be worth it. but no one loves a girl who is starving.

my feelings on instagram poetry
not my thing, but i won’t;; insult you? if you do like it, or if you dO connect with it. it’s perfectly fine if you do, and it’s great that you’ve found something to connect with;; or that you feel understood by. but *inhale* i HATE IT OH MY SDFGhzgDFGHDFdshdFDjs GET IT AWAY FROM MEÂ
*funny little wink with “ding” noise* and here’s why :D
1. it’s not as complex and doesn’t involve as many poetic techniques as classical poetry. that doesn’t necessarily make it worse- like i say down below, it makes it easier to understand- because you don’t have to translate it. it’s a bit like writing the moral of the aesop fable instead of the aesop fable. of course it’s valuable, still.
2. i like poems best when they aren’t planned out;; they’re just a hot mess of pure emotion and unplanned-ness. but these just feel so- ingenuine, y’know? they don’t feel real.
3. and lots of times, it can be very cliched, ingenuine, and easy to fake, with no real passion or effort put into it
4. like slam poetry, it’s mocked a lot (bUT I LIKE SLAM POETRY BETTER IT’S SO COOL AND EMOTIONAL >:C *hisses*)
5. but it’s easy to absorb, and it’s accessible, and it has the genuine ability to connect people and make them feel understood
6. i hate how it’s aestheticising poetry, because that just;; cheapens it and makes it ingenuine. and if there’s anything i want to be genuine, it’s poetry. it’s supposed to be an expression of- emotion, or maybe concept, like music. i don’t want it to be thin-sounding and skin-level. i want people to have understood it on a deeper level, to where it changes something about them. if you- bastardize these genuine and important expressions and turn them to parts of a moodboard or an ingenuine aspect of a life you want- i just- wAAUGH stobbit >:( but!! i can’t tell you;; how to live your life.Â
7. :0 little side thingy: do whATEVER YOU WANT with your stuff. you don’t have to follow of do what i say. if you want to, bASTARDIZE THAT FUCKIN POETRY I STAND BEHIND YOU EVEN THOUGH I ABHOR WHAT YOU’RE DOING YOU BEAUTIFUL SICK FREAK <3 >:C
