Chloe

Gabriela Hearst is bringing sustainability to Chloe which absolutely makes my heart SING. We are seeing it first in recycled fabrics, including cashmere, and I am looking forward to seeing how else she applies it to the French luxury house. Chloe will always hold a special place in my heart because of my time working there with Phoebe Philo. And while I do think there have been nice collections since other designers took the helm, the past two seasons have really caught my eye. I love what Heart is doing with the bags and shoes, and she is also giving us some incredible outerwear and knits. When I was a Chloe, it was all about a great jean or floaty dress, I am hoping Gabriela will re- interpret those archives soon.

Chloe is a great brand to shop for investment pieces. I would definitely take a look at what might be floating around on The Real Real or Vestaire. Also Net-a-Porter, Neiman Marcus & Bergdorf Goodman are carrying the brand online, if you don’t want to shop on Chloe.com. If you are looking for the most diverse selection, it looks like Chloe’s own website wins. The atelier at Chloe is top notch and all of the clothes and shoes I have from the Phoebe Era have aged beautifully with minimal wear and tear.

Wardrobe Staple No 1 of 33: The Sui

My first recommendation and an absolute must have for your lifetime wardrobe is a great suit! I recommend getting this suit in a timeless silhouette, nothing too oversized or with trendy exaggerated lapels, in a color that suits you for life! A suit is so wearable for many occasions! I have worn mine to lunch at a French Bistro, to business meetings & work as well as out on date night. It’s one of the most versatile formal outfits you can have. And the suit jacket and trousers can be broken up to create even more versatility. I love a blazer with a vintage tee and jeans. I love a suit trouser with a sweat shirt and ballerinas. My suit is from Phoebe Philo’s Celine and I found it in a Barney’s Warehouse outlet. Spend as much as you can afford on this suit so it will last a life time. Look for Made in Italy or France on the clothing tag and wool and silk for fabrication as your indications of being “well made”. Celine from Phoebe’s era is a great choice from The Real Real or Vestaire. I also love The Frankie Shop if you are on a budget. The Frankie Shop tends to be more of a fashion silhouette, but it’s a good suit option while you save up for something more timeless. And trends aren’t cycling as fast as they used to! Bottega Veneta is doing gorgeous suits and Ralph Lauren Purple Label is always a classic too! Saint Laurent also cuts a good suit. Happy Suit Shopping!
