Disney charging 30 DOLLARS to watch Mulan on Disney+ while still requiring people to pay the subscription is peak Disney greed. If it was a one time purchase available on Disney+ (and the Apple iTunes Store/ Play store) that could be watched regardless if you were subscribed (similar to purchasing a movie off the Apple iTunes Store or google play store) that would be a bit better, but it would still be pricey as hell. Disney is requiring you to be subscribed to buy it and you loose access to it if you unsubscribe. This is literally just showing everything wrong with DRM, you technically don’t own the thing your paying for your renting it. $30 for a movie rental, seriously??

Disney with the ST: “We paid a bunch of money for this intellectual property, we’re interested in making movies and selling stuff. The story isn’t really important. We’ll write it in a committee with focus groups so it pleases our shareholders. We’ll engineer a basic Star Wars movie that pleases the general audience. The story itself isn’t a big deal, because Star Wars is a lifestyle brand. Fans are just people who are loyal to the brand and will buy anything with Star Wars on it. We want good publicity and these days that means being #woke, so we’re gonna act like we care. We’re gonna have women and racial minorities in the cast but we’re not gonna develop them as believable characters at all. In fact, we’ll give them 2 minutes of screen time or make them stereotypes or sideline them completely. And if people don’t like the movies, we’ll use our diverse cast as human shields to deflect criticism. We’ll have the shill media call critical fans ‘toxic manbabies’ and ‘sexist’ and ‘racist’ even when they have legitimate criticisms of the story.”

Honestly one complaint about the last of us 2 that makes zero sense is that Abby is too buff for a zombie apocalypse because the people compaling about her body wouldn't blink if a male character was built up like a venom injected Bane during a zombie apocalypse.

Sending actors, voice actors , anyone hate over a fictional game, movie, etc it is NEVER OKAY. Stop sending Laura Bailey hate and death threats for something she had no control over, she didnt write it. The writers and directors who choose the narrative etc shouldn't be sent hate either, I'm not a fan of Neil Druckmann's writing, but he DOES NOT deserve hate and death threats for writing a FICTONAL game badly.

Is it just me or are the last of us 2 defenders choosing to ignore all the gay and trans folk calling out the game's violent homophobia and transphobia. And they're only acknowledging the bigots who are hating on the game for having minority characters at all.

Like you cant just cherry pick which detractors you want to exist and ignore the ones that make you look bad. And how dare you lump these two groups together. Hating a piece of media for having diverse characters is NOT the same as hating it for how fucking awful those characters are treated.

I really hate when straight/white Twitter chuds try to white knight pieces of media they like for having diverse characters while purposefully ignoring how very very badly the non diverse writers of that piece of media handled the representation.

Neil Druckmann has seen way too many shitty movies about the suffering of gay people written by straights who think they're Shakespeare. Fuck that guy.

Game of thrones has had a BAD influence on modern writing. Why does every egotistical dickhead writer think shock value is all you need to make a good story.

It’s really weird when hardcore MCU and carol Danvers claim the reason Carol Danvers is the first captain marvel in the MCU is because she’s more popular, which is ridiculous.

Carol was popular, but hated so much after civil war 2, so it wasn’t good popularity. Marvel just decided to promote her as their lead female character and their version of Wonder Woman in 2012 for some reason, despite there being female characters who were way more popular. I feel like Storm, Jean Grey or any of the X-Men woman are probably the most recognisable heroines Marvel has, but when they wanted a new female lead to promote as a ‘big’ character, they also wanted to tie this into the MCU for profit (since movies sell more than comics because they have a wider audience) and Marvel didn’t have the rights to use XMen in the movies.

Though as much as I dislike carol as captain marvel I feel like I have to bring up how frustrating and annoying it is when a single storyline/ comic run manages to destroy a characters reputation (basically every character Tom king has written.) There’s also a bunch of her fans who prefer her as Ms Marvel or Warbird.

The TLOU spoilers are from here from polygon and brings up some good criticism of game’s statement on video game violence. 

The game critises violence in the games narrative and aims to make the player “feel dirty” according to Neil Druckermann and in game you are forced to kill dogs  who loudly yelp. Despite these narrative criticisms the game offers no gameplay that fits this ‘anti-violence/ revenge’ message and forces the player to do these violent actions and doesn't offer a passive alternative.

It feels like bad game design to preach something in the narrative but not have the gameplay follow through on this, Its just lazy and try hard pretentious.

Honestly cant believe marvel retconned carols origin story and make her half kree (on her moms side, then made her kree name “Car-Ell’.

So instead of having captain marvel be to similar to Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) with the ‘human test pilot gets recruited into alien group with superpowers’ they gave her a bad knockoff of supermans origin story. Also despite how  much she has already been compared to Supergirl as both have the surname danvers, they now have a similar ‘origin’ name 

(supergirl started using the surname as part of her human alias in 1961/1962 in the comic  storyline “The Unknown supergirl” while carol was only introduced as a character in 1968)
