When Sam heard the mutters he followed it. What was she on about? The second she turned around he raised his hands up a bit, “I’m innocent... and sorry to startle you, miss... You alright?”

“She’s my niece and I haven’t lost anyone, just wondering where she could be at, she likes to wonder around at night.” He laughed as he knew what he was talking about, finding her in dark situations.

Sam raised an eyebrow. What child wanders at night? “So, I should keep an eye out for a child... blonde.... suspiciously alone at night? Yep.. I’m scared.”

“Never said it didn’t.” She objected raising her hands up slightly. She felt like a good person. She helped people, or more in the past did especially with all the monsters from the past. “Because that doesn’t sound suspicious.” She laughed about it. “What old lady doesn’t have candy in her purse?”

“You’re right.” Sam laughed softly, “My motive was to actually steal said purse... for the candy and lint at the bottom... god I fucking love candy in lint... started a collection actually.... might open up a museum.”

Michie kept replaying what had just happened in her head.  She didn’t have to worry about being hurt because as a tribrid she was already healed.  It still left her stunned and standing there.  She was only brought out of her own thoughts by the sound of someone’s voice.  "I’m… I’m okay,“ she said with chattering teeth.  "Are you sure?”  She didn’t know where else to go right now.  She didn’t want either of her parents to see her like this.

Sam nodded. He felt horrible. “You’re freezing...” he pointed out, quickly unzipping his hoodie, taking it off, and draping it around he shoulders. “Really, it’s no problem... I’ll even make you a warm drink... your choice...”

“But you can draw him pictures.” He nodded dow towards the sketchbook in front of the other. “You never know until you try, Sam.”

Sam couldn’t help but smile at that, “Uncle Ric.. you don’t woo a person’s heart by drawing them dumb pictures.” He looked over at him, “And I mean... he’s not into guys so.... I think I’m eliminated.”

“I was visiting our in Whitmore earlier and Frat boys are the funniest things to me, like you have so many choices to do and you choose to get one everyones last nerve.. needless to say theres some beat up boys walking around campus now with no idea what happened, told them they tried to fight eachother so everytime they see eachother now they wanna fight one another “ he smiled  “ it’s nothing but  I think its super funny when you’re walking and then the next thing you see is a bunch of frat boys throwing down in the court yard.

Sam cocked his head to the side as he listened. College and frats seemed a lot more...intense.. then he remembered. “No one died right?” he couldn’t help but ask, “Because to me that sounds like cruelty....”

She couldn’t help but softly laugh about it. “You and I both when my eyes first laid on him.” She spoke as his tail wagged and he jumped his paws up on the bench.

Sam leaned forward, putting his hand out a bit, hoping the dog would say hello. “I’ve always wanted a dog.” He smiled soft, “More like eight dogs... but even settling for one is a dream.”

Josie took a moment to look at her cousin before taking a seat and joining him.  "Do you need to talk about it… well, anything?“ she looked away from him and to anything within their immediate surroundings.

“You mean the inevitability of being alone forever?” He looked over at Josie, “Whats there to talk about? Because.... I mean it’s kind of fate for me no? I’ll probably become one of those people who feeds birds for a living.”

Sam knew Liam... and usually “that’s it” means “there’s more”. He shook his head and stood up, snatching his belongings, “Alright, St. John... lead the way then.”

“Oh come on, that can’t be it. You play sports? You know I play lacrosse. How about you? Do you like pizza? Or how about cookies? Come on. There’s more to you than coffee and drawing. Though drawing is very awesome in and of itself.”

Sam laughed softly. “Well, I used to be a football and swimmer guy back in high school.... wasn’t all that good but...” He shrugged a bit, “Enough to make the parents happy.” Grayson made Sam a bit nervous. For starters, he was cute. Second, Sam already knew a good amount about Grayson. All because of Rowan. “Pizza’s a close second but I’m more so a pasta and garlic bread type of guy.... and vanilla cake, actually. While I can smash a whole family size of oreos in an hour.... give me a while sheet cake and we’ll probably be married within the hour.”

“Because it’s a classic thing good people do.” Hope let out a small laugh with a smile growing on her lips.

“Hey being good has its perks...” He sat back, thinking for a moment. Sam grabbed the now cold latte and took a quick sip. “Like this one time... I helped an old woman find her car.... and she gave me a piece of candy from the bottom of her purse.”

Her face softened when she saw the boy’s surprise. He obviously didn’t mean any harm, which made Roxanne feel a little guilty. “No, I’m sorry..I’m just jumpier than usual I today.” She sighed at herself and gave him a sheepish smile. “Whatever you want, half off. We have a 50% off discount for customers who get hissed at.” 

Sam laughed softly, taking a sat, “Well gee I dunno.... you choose for me.” He knew what a tough day was like. He hated those days. “And I promise even if I hate it... I won’t be mean because I don’t want you even more jumpier. Everything okay though?”

Josie had just noticed him over there and wondered if he was okay.  There was no longer steam coming up for his latte.  That meant it wasn’t hot anymore but there were iced latte so it couldn’t taste too bad.  "I was just wondering if you were okay,“ she barely peeked at his sketchbook.

Sam looked around for a moment. Was she talking to him? Of course she was talking to him. “Mind’s just a hurricane today....” He smiled softly. The smile was fake. As of late Sam has been feeling lonely... but he wouldn’t admit that. “Just studying the birds.....”

The young tribrid was standing by herself just outside of the rain.  Her teeth chattering from the cold downpour.  She was trying to tell her legs to move but they weren’t listening to her.  She couldn’t believe that one of her best friends attacked her because of something as trivial as thinking that she had slept with her boyfriend.  She didn’t want anyone to see her like this so she wasn’t even thinking about going home.

Another late night coffee shop run led Sam here. In the rain, soaking wet, and coffee almost cold. Sam was observant and when he saw a girl, standing in the rain he quickly went to her. “Are you alright...?” He asked softly, “Jesus, you look freezing... Let me take you back to my place... just a short walk... we can call someone....”

“Really?” She asked raising a brow with a small laugh. “One thing about it is not pleasing people. You please people and you’re a pushover.”

Sam hissed softly, bringing a hand to his heart, faking mock offense, “Ouch... that one hurt big time. How’d you guess though?”

“Of course he is. And the sad thing is he knows it.” She joked with a smile on her lips as she whistled him over to which King ran over with pure excitement.

Sam perked up even more at the sight of King. He had an extra weak spot for dogs....and cats..... and basically any animal. Even spiders. “Oh my god...” He whispered, “I think I’m in love.”

“Perfect!” She cheered with a few claps to her hands. “Well new music depends on like music that you haven’t heard that artists released OR new music that this girl has written.” She spoke with raised shoulders. “Puppies of every breed.” She whispered closer to him with a smile.

“You had me at songs you’ve written, hand ‘em over.” He laughed softly. Sam listens to every kind of music, from jazz instrumentals up to the heavy stuff. “As for the puppies... you better not be lying; you’ll break my poor little heart.”
