The current summer in Ohio proved to be even more monotonous than Tosha could have possibly imagined. Her dad had pushed back her trip due to a work conference and now the girl had to find things to do to fill up her time in this podunk town. With nothing better to do, Tosha grabbed her bag and decided to go for a walk to bide her time like one of those women in those Jane Austen novels. The day was hot and humid and she wondered what she could even post on her story to make people think she was actually doing something. Crossing their local 7Eleven, she decided she was going to get a slushie. Filling her cup with the classic cherry flavor, she looked in her bag to take out a dollar, only to find she completely forgot her wallet at home. It must be in my other bag, fuck. She thought to herself. Tosha considered simply walking out of the store but this was the only 7Eleven in walking distance and she wasn’t about to get banned for a fucking slushie. She looked around the store before recognizing someone.
“Come here, dude.” She said as she motioned the person toward her. “You got a dollar?”
Samantha had always been active. In school, she’d played lacrosse and volleyball, had been on the track team in the spring. It’s why she had gotten her job at the gym near her college, free membership and she could work out on the clock. But she always preferred running out on trails to on a machine. So with nothing to do, she had gone out to the school and run the cross country trail that they did during the season. She stopped in front of the 7Eleven near the school, resting her hands on her knees and taking deep breaths in an attempt to stop herself from panting. After a few moments, she walked into the store, heading over to the water and grabbing a large bottle. It was another half mile back to the school and with as hot as it was today, Sam didn’t wanna risk getting dehydrated. She grabbed a small bag of cashews as well before walking over to the open air cooler and asking Mike if he wanted anything. She was waiting for an answer when she heard someone possibly talking to her and looked up, her brow quirked at the word ‘dude’. She recognized the girl fairly quickly. There weren’t many people in Lima dressed like that and as the principal, she pretty much knew every school aged and recently graduated kid in town.
“Hello Miss Tipton. Yeah, of course, hold on.” She reached into the back of her phone case walking up to the counter and putting her things on the counter before smiling at the cashier. “Can you add this stuff to the bill? Thanks.” She waited for him to do so before handing him her card and smiling at Tosha. “Enjoying your summer so far?”
