Friday 9th May.
Today was submission day. I spent the day looking at my studio space and rearranging everything so it falls into the categories of models of practice and methods and materials B.
I am pleased with what I have created this semester and loved how it has ended! I am pleased with how my studio has progressed and how far I have come!
Thursday 8th May.
Today was exhibition day. I spent hours playing around with layouts and tried different fixings. I was originally going to use pins to attach the paper pieces to the wall and then clips to hang the canas'.
whilst in this process I decided that I would use Velcro to attach the work as this wouldn't damage the work by applying holes.
I also realised that the piece where Hitlers face is covered by a rose is on a slightly different shade of white paper than the other two images I was going to use. I therefore decided that I would only use the rose image. This decision was a harsh compromise as I love all 3 images.
I then played around with the layout of the canvas'. I finally decided on an L shape that complimented the A3 piece.
I loved exhibiting my work and loved comments and feedback which was coming back!
Wednesday 7th May.
Today I was invigilating the Jo Clemens exhibition at Bankley Studios. It gave me a chance to view the space and look around to see where I wanted my work to go!

It was great that I had the opportunity to do this despite only the one visitor! Later on in the day Sam came down with peoples exhibition pieces and we began to play around with different layouts. During this we got told we had to consider eye level of the work. Setting up this exhibition will be hard work!
Also, after talking to Sam I have decided against using clip frame and now will be exhibiting 3 A3 pieces rather than the 2.
Tuesday 6th May.
Today I spent time clearing out my studio space and rearranging my desk. I also spent time perfecting my canvas' ready for the exhibition by adding spray paint over Hitler's face. I also put my A3 pieces in their frames.
I love what I am exhibiting and think it fully shows off what I have achieved this year.

Monday 5th May.
Today I have been playing around with spray paint and perfecting my exhibiton ideas. I also went out and bought clip frames which will hold my Hitler Selfie.
I am really looking forward to the exhibition as I feel as I have gained a lot and played around with a lot of materials and ideas.
I first played around with pink spray paint however I don't think this colour suits the nature of the image.
I then used silver which I love as it gives an eerie feel to the image however the paint pools and dries unevenly.
I then played around with red again which is a colour I will be using for the exhibition.
Sunday 4th May.
Today I have been playing around with collage again using the idea of blocking out the face of Hitler. This is something that I think has worked well in this project and I love the spray paints that I have created.
I have experimented around with card, fabric, coloured spray paints, acrylic paint.
I used acrylic paint and used my thumb print to block Hitlers face. I really like how this looks and love the use of the vibrant blue. I like the way I have used my thumb to physically block Hitlers face as it feels more harsh and more expressive.
I have also played around with text and with circular shapes to again take the mick out of Hitler.
Friday 2nd May.
I began to play around with collage today which I really enjoyed.
Some of the collages that I was creating seemed very controversial however I like how this will be talked about and criticized.
I love collage and this is a path that I want to take for the exhibition even if the collage is based on photos. I have been collecting the images from mainly the government archive website which I have previously stated.
Thursday 1st May.
I used the backgrounds that I had created yesterday to spray paint on top. I love the contrast between colour and the black spray paint however I don't think that the pastelly pinks work well with the Hitler imagery.
I think the most successful pieces work well when the colours a yellow ochre and black. I may experiment around more with this however I don't think that this is the idea I will be pursuing for the exhibition.
Wednesday 30th April.
I began to play around with backgrounds using coloured inks as I have previously done before. I have done this with the intention of spray painting over the top.
I love how the colours blend together in the water. This is experimentation for what I want to do for the end of year exhibition as I am still uncertain about a few ideas.
Wednesday 23rd April.
Today I used the backgrounds that I had created yesterday to spray paint with. I love the background and how it is contrasting with the paint! I want to experiment with different colours and see how that looks.
I then began playing around with printing off onto the backgrounds. This looked really interesting if you looked closely at the image. I will try and play around with different colour backgrounds.
Tuesday 22nd April.
I went into the print workshop today as it was open with the intention of printing my vaccum plastic drawings however this didn't work out! Although some parts of the image were showing up well, other parts weren't.
Upon cleaning there was no tissue so I used news print to clean up which lead me to play around with creating backgrounds! I love the circling that Is appearing, I will use these tomorrow to play with!
Monday 21st April.
Today I just took a day to mind map ideas and think about what I want to do for the exhibition.
I also watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail, keeping with the idea of satire.
Thursday 17th April.
Today I played with complete opposites in terms of imagery and began to put Hitlers face on dancers bodies which I had sketched out.
I love the contrast between elegance and evil.
Wednesday 16th April.
Today I finally finished the A3 stencil of Hitler ready to spray paint. The stencil is inspired by the comical image of Hitler in Bunny ears.

I then spray painted. With the amount of time I took to carve through the plastic the outcome isn't as spectacular as id hoped it to be nether the less I still find the imagery hilarious.
I then played with previous spray paints and dripped ink on top! I love what has happened however I don't think that the spray paints are the right image to use as a back ground. Bearing this in mind I then used imagery of Hitler to do the same.
I then played around collaging things together, using imagery as a main source. I used the idea of cutting out Hitler in an image and have a background appearing. I then used a tea bag to discolour some of the images but it made the paper crinkle.
Later in the day I went back to the vaccum plastic. When using it to create the stencil I noticed that any slips on the plastic would leave little marks. I used this theory to create a drawing onto the plastic. I used a cutting knife to scratch the surface of the plastic. I think this has worked really well and I will use this to print with on another day.
I then spent the rest of the day watching Monty Python on Youtube!
Tuesday 15th April.
Today I went to Salford Art Gallery which Charlie Holts exhibition is on show! Charlie Holt recently held a workshop in which he shown us some of his work and explained how he creates his work.
I found his exhibition room a transformation to the room which It normally is. He has covered all the walls with huge posters and even linked in walls and cd players in with his collage style
The rest of the gallery was interesting too and there was a small exhibition on inspired WW1 paintings which I found usefull.
I then spent the afternoon researching artists with the books I gathered yesterday.
Monday 14th April.
Today I returned my Modernism books to the library and got out some new ones! I found a really interesting book on Printmaking which I will read after the deadline in May and I gathered up books based on artists to help with research.
I then carried on with my vaccum plastic stencil.
Today seems like a quiet day however has been productive in the sense that it will help later on! Books on artists = great artist research! Finished plastic stencil = Spray paint pieces!
