“Rule number one of girls night isss--” Sam drawled out, standing on her couch with a bottle of flavored vodka in her hand, her phone in the other, “NO boys!” and with that she threw her phone into the crack of the couch cushions. “Now. Rule number TWO of girl’s night is--” she took another large swig from the bottle before handing it to Becca with a grin on her face, already fairly drunk, “you’re pregaming too! It’s no fun if I’m the only one going hard, so you have to catch up.”

Jasper had gotten into a confrontation with another patient. Some things were said that made him confused and angry. He had punched the wall and ran away with his hands over his ears, quite like a child throwing a tantrum. He had been told he was abducted. That the people he was used to living with didn’t love him. It wasn’t true, he was sure of it. Maybe the man didn’t, he was just an awful father figure, but Debbie did. She had to have loved him to some degree right? The kid told him he was dumb and worthless. He knew the later part but he was smart. Sure, he was shy and sometimes didn’t catch on quick or wasn’t life smart but he was pretty book smart, or so he believed. Debbie had always told him he was. He was her smart kid. He shook his head as tears streamed down his confused and scared face. He saw the door and ran. He had to get out, he had to get back to them. He couldn’t stay here any longer, it just wasn’t going to happen. Until a voice spoke to him. Telling him to focus on his breathing. Through the panic attack all he could see was blurred face. A pale figure with dark hair and a soft angelic voice, that reminded him of safety. He listened and did his best to breathe “I have to go home, I think Debbie needs me” he whispered through tears.

For someone who had dealt  with her fair share of heartbreak and pain, Sam had never dealt with an actual panic attack. Which meant that no matter how hard she tried to sympathize with what he was going through right now, she wouldn’t be able to understand. She just wouldn’t. Biting her lip and holding out her hand, she carefully placed her palm on his cheek. “No, what we need right now is for you to be safe. And I’m here to just make sure you stay that way.” Sam reassured him calmly, licking her lips and staring at him evenly. “I’m Sam, what’s your name?” She used her thumb to brush a tear from his cheek, cautiously drawing her hand away from him and inhaling shakily. Taking a hasty step back, she glanced at the door warily before adding, “Let’s get you a blanket and some water, okay? Then we can talk about what happens next. I promise.”

Dana looked around as the woman seemed to address her. She shrugged lightly, half wanting to defend but she didn’t have it in her today. “I guess somewhere like this isn’t exactly going to be a circus no matter what.” All these ill people under one roof. Not that she counted herself, of course.

“It was practically a circus before you got here.” Sam corrected her lightly. She wasn’t trying to cause any trouble, simply pointing out a fact. “You’re part of the group of staff members with Wright, aren’t you? I thought I recognized you.” There had been a whole gang of them that had transferred amidst all the chaos, and while it felt like ages ago, the blonde had a face that Sam didn’t seem to forget.

Sloane smirked. If anyone knew her around here they knew NOT to mess with her or the few people she’d call friends. She looked up at the guard. “Yeah I know sorry, but you heard what he said right?” she said rolling her eyes, unintentionally, at the female staff. A bad habit she was used to. She was irritable today and she felt cold and shakey. She really needed something to get her mind of alcohol or drugs, and fighting kind of did that for her. Unfortunately it wasn’t the best alternative as it landed her in solitaire many times. And she had learned to keep her mouth shut around guards but lately she slipped a few times. “thanks” she added with a simple head nod.

Smiling softly, Sam could relate all too well. “Yeah, I did. But if a fight broke out, you’d be the one to get booty juiced and thrown in isolation. Not him. It’s fucked up, but I don’t make the rules. I just follow them.” Sometimes. She could easily remember Quentin telling her she looked like a patient, and recalled just how upset that had truly made her. If it had been anyone else saying it she might have shrugged or laughed it off, but it had been him, and it had stung. The words had carried with her ever since, even now that he was gone. That stupid idiot, always leaving her without a goodbye. “Trust me, I get mad too. Like, really fucking pissed over the smallest stuff. So I get you, I really do. Plus, that whole thing was kind of justified, so. You don’t need to thank me.” She looked down the hall at where the patient had gone, losing herself in her thoughts once more, before adding, “I’m Sam. What’s your name?”
