I hate that the Dairy Queen cashiers have to flip your blizzard upside down before giving it to you. I hate it. I know it’s most likely going to stay in it’s cup and I know I get a free one if it doesn’t, but the cocktail of a potential disaster and the cashier apologizing to what is most definitely a horrified me, having to sit in a drive-thru while someone behind me just bore witness to my fucking salted caramel blondie blizzard splattering on the asphalt, melting away while they mix me another one and i pray to god that they don’t flip it upside down again, is just a stress that I find entirely unnecessary. I trust it’s thick, just give me your word and i’ll be on my merry way.

Still shooketh at Valentina for trying to compare herself to Selenas. Like, whatever Valentina thinks she’s done for the Tejano/latinx community, my community, will never compare to Selena. All she’s done is prove that she was out for nothing but attention and not because she truly cares about the art of drag. She just wants to get paid for being pretty and, much to some disbelief, that’s not what drag is about. She may be polished on the runway, but not in her real life.I’m glad Aja and Farrah called her out because I hope that the fans learn that people aren’t the same as they are on TV.

The shit Valentina did, or well, the tea that was spilled about her during the reunion honestly pisses me off to no end. Like first, she did nothing when her fans were sending racial slurs to Nina or death threats to her and Alexis, like how could she sit there and say she doesn’t agree with that stuff and then not tell her fans to back off, part of that’s on her. Then there’s the shit with Farrah, who was genuinely hurt that she lost a friendship, and knew the only way she would get a response out of Valentina was if the cameras were rolling, and Valentina completely blew her off, what a cunt, there’s a difference between being a bitch and a shitty person, and Valentina has surpassed the usual drag queen bitch level and I am so disgusted she got Miss Congeniality

Today’s gif is from a shaky video I took over nine years ago, back when you actually had to bring a camera to record things. This is my friend Caitlin, during her “individuals” performance. She was killed in a car accident nine years ago today.

Caitlin taught me rifle, back in 2006. Rifle is my favorite piece of equipment, but the truth is I am very slow at learning it. Unlike anyone else, especially myself, she was always patient. It was the same way with any drama in the guard - she was always fair.

Over the years, I’ve tried to emulate her approach, both with my students and with the asks I get from you guys. I never got to thank her, so it’s the best I can do to pay her back. I know that when you’re young it often feels like nobody cares about you, but that is incredibly untrue, especially if you’re in colorguard. Just over 3,600 people follow this blog, and I want each and every one of you to be successful. And I especially want you to appreciate the presence of your fellow humans, and to be happy.
