Hey to all my followers if I still have any haha.

Haven’t been active in a long while and have had some major life updates, aside from the global pandemic.

First of all I got married and have been welcomed as the second wife into an amazing family, so I’ve been busy moving, getting passports ready etc.

Leading me onto my second update I have now moved to Morocco and am adjusting to the heat here lol. And brushing up on my French.

And finally can now refer to myself as a proud Niqabi now instead of just a hijabi, which has been challenging in some ways but rewarding in others.

Not sure how active I’ll be on here but I’ll continue to try and update as long as I can.

Another great addition to any muslim’s summer wardrobe, the dress’s ochre colour a perfectly warm colour. The floral pattern is rather unique and I might add quite beautiful, I adore all things flower related and the choice of flowers on this dress are a pleasure to behold.

The benefit of this dress really is the way in which it keeps the figure vague, although I must confess in my own (perhaps bitchy) opinion, the hair revealed under the hijab is a little disappointing, as worn by this model. But either way the black headscarf is a good mix, although lighter summery colours would mix just as well.

There’s something about this teal coloured abaya which is endlessly appealing, although it clings to the body, it keeps the figure vague. The beige hijab is a great combo, especially with the shawl style.

This is a great looking one wishes to appear modest but also a head turner at the same time.

So I’m back after a long hiatus, and what a time to come back, during a global pandemic. I thought I’d come back strong with a summery outfit, hopefully this lockdown will be over by then. (I do realised I’ve just dated this post but it’s history I guess).

It’s rare to see a hijabi portrayed like this, in a typical summer dress and sun hat, but this model is completely rocking this look. The floral pattern is an excellent summer choice, the red among the whites a really eye catching look, and the black hijab puts it over the top as a great modest Summer look. Just make sure to wear something non-translucent underneath.

For those of who have followed me for a while now, you’ll know that I’m a big fan of the traditional look, and maybe a bit overly zealous against not treating modesty properly lol.

So I couldn’t resist talking about this look. The racing green tunic is such a great article of clothing, I’m already well on my way to getting one myself. Great for the office and a casual setting. I particularly enjoy it with the black hijab pictured above. Possibly my favourite piece I have commented on since I began this blog.

Summer is still a long way off but I thought I’d comment on this Summer get up.

Firstly the wide legged trousers are a great addition to any modest wardrobe, keeping the figure vague and remaining visually stylish. The long sleeve shirt, while pleasing is far too tight, any shirt which shows the bra underneath is strictly forbidden. I might comment that the make up is a bit excessive too, sorting defeats the purpose of hijab, however there is enough in this outfit to put something together to make a really special Summer look.

The idea of hijab, at its core is to cover a woman’s ‘awrah and protect her from the eyes of those who would fetishise her or even hurt her, so the idea of “looking good” is somewhat contradictory.

However we are all only human, and this jilbab look is a perfect way to both preserve modesty while remainin somewhat stylish and proving that both can be achieved at once.

I adore this bazaar jilbab at is certainly something that I will be adding to my collection soon. Truly I love appearing modest and this is such a good way for me, and others like me, to remain modest and look good at the same time.

Although I must confess the amount of make-up on this model is perhaps a little bit too much for my personal liking.

A very interesting outfit, I am always a bit apprehensive when it comes to modern clothing because of the nature of showing of a woman’s ‘awrah but this is a modern outfit I would put together time and time again.

The mixture of dark greens on black is very eye catching and a perfect mix, however the short may be a little bit too tight, and shows off too much of the upper torso.

Amazing slick traditional abaya with a modern flare. The hen design is impressive to say the least, yet remains both subtle and non-eye catching as well as adding to the outfit at the same time.

The dark lavender semi-translucent abaya is a really nice touch, a bit cheeky if you ask me as it is deceptive in blending traditional and modern fashion.

The steel hijab is a nice touch, I only wish it were covering the little bit f hair at the front too, and her shoes look like they are heels, which is of course haram. Apart from those criticisms a great outfit for all seasons.

Pastel pink is always a great choice for a summer colour, something about it just radiates warmth and reminds me of sipping cold drinks under the hot sun (if England ever truly gets it haha). Hence, this dress is an amazing summer dress and a great match with the taupe hijab.

The clutch bag is also a nice touch.

This tartan dress with a Tuscany (didn’t know that was a colour before haha) long sleeved shirt is a fantastic combo, keeping the figure vague yet this look is both summery and works in the office too. The light pink hijab is also a great addition and fits perfectly.

This look is both modest and stylish and 100% one I will be checking out come next summer.

This platinum dress is a stunning looking summer dress, and absolutely something I will be adding to my wardrobe. And strikes me as a garment that would be perfect for formal occasions and garden parties.

The navy blue hijab fits perfectly and the floral pattern is a really cute addition, and really adds to the summer vibe.

I stumbled upon this lavender coloured abaya quite by accident and I’m glad it did, this modern coloured abaya is stunningly beautiful and is an item I am definitely going to buy myself, and hope that some of you out there also look into purchasing.

This maroon traditional style abaya is a fantastic way to remain modern while also remaining traditional and adhereing to the rules of hijab.

The Mountbatten pink hijab is a great addition and blends in perfectly.

Things I have heard as an Azerbaijani hijab wearing Muslim.

Things that are kind of funny:

- “Azerbaijan, I thought that was next to China” 😒

- “Oh it’s so cool that you’re from Turkey” - really!?

- “Azerbaijan! The princesses of Easter Europe” (yes someone actually said that to me)

- Girl in shop: “You know this book is in English right” (aaahhhh!)

- “So do you prefer Russia or Turkey” (neither, that’s why I live in the UK)

- “You look pretty white for an Azerbaijani” (despite the fact we’re all pretty much white)

- “Oh that’s cool, when did you convert?” (Cannot stress this enough, how much I hate hearing this, some of us are born white and Muslim! Go and visit Azerbaijan, Morocco or Uzbekistan and you’ll see)

- “It’s cool you’re wearing the hijab to support the Muslims students” (day after the mosque attacks in New Zealand, despite the fact that I wear it all the time).

- “So do you like go outside without your hijab sometimes?” (At least he was just curious and not a complete idiot)

Things that aren’t funny

- “Come on take it (hijab off), I bet your hair looks really cool”

- “I like Azerbaijanis, you’re such conquerable People” (from a Muslim guy from Turkey)

- “But here [in the USA] we’re a Christian nation, so you don’t need to wear that”

- “I bet your hair is really pretty underneath”

- “You only wear that because men want you too”

- “Taking your hijab off is empowering” [at a woman’s march last year]

- “How does it feel to be oppressed?” [Same woman’s march]

Some good things I have heard:

- ”Your scarf is quite pretty, matches your shirt”

- “I know you don’t celebrate Christmas, but I got this for you anyway”

- “I’m sorry about our president (American to me), you’re always welcome here”

- “Oh sorry, it’s Ramadan isn’t it, I can eat it later” (friend after realising she was eating in front of me during Ramadan).

This smokey black traditional style abaya really jumps out due to the small pockets of grey at the bottom and on the sleeves, with a perfectly matching crossed zig-zag style stitching to separate the two colours, which contrast nicely.

Long style over the shoulder hijab is a great match for this outfit, and naturally traditional is always the way to go.

At the end of the day modesty is more important than a practicing Muslim girl’s style.

I’ve mentioned before that traditional is always the best option, and this burgundy jilbab is the perfect example of how traditional clothing and style can be intertwined.

A simple design can really make this outfit appear far more interesting, where I must admit, many jilbabs can often come across as quite plain.
