Hear me out: Nerdy Prudes AU, which I’ve named Prudish Nerds for the time being, where Grace and Pete swap roles

Grace is still nerdy and prudish and very Christian, but she’s much more quiet about it and not forcing her beliefs down anyone’s throat. She’s just a nerdy prude, who wants to be left to analyse the Bible in peace. Max isn’t too pissed at the idea of a nerd trying to break bread with Steph here, it’s more “I wanna date this nerd, so if I can’t have her, no one can”. It doesn’t really change the narrative much, I just thought it was worth noting - the prank is formed because Max needs to stop treating women like shit. She refuses to admit her feelings to Steph because “it’s wrong” but slowly learns otherwise and sees her religion from a new, healthier light.
Pete is the complete “do over” child to his parents after Ted. So much so that he has become the extreme obnoxious nerdy prude and very Lumber-Axe in regards to sex - nothing to do with religion, just not wanting to be like Ted. He’s also still kinda friends with Ruth and Richie, but constantly scolds their sexual behaviours. Max, being the total opposite and slowly making him want to ditch the bow tie more and more, quickly unknowingly becomes his target. Can’t have anyone trying to make him into a horny bastard like Ted, that won’t do. This relates to the prank on the fact Ted also treats women badly and Pete’s trying to limit the possibility of more of those (Teds) in Hatchetfield.
Oh, and Ted is absolutely one of the dirty dudes who dies later, if not the first.
Grace should get a happy ending for once. And Pete deserves to go off the rails, you know, as a treat.
