Me: "What if there's no one at the party?" Him: "Bitch we are the party!"

She asked me to go to her bedroom and take her pictures. She said, "I'm an artist. I make music. I rap. This tattoo is my grandmother's name."

Dec. 31, 2014: After wandering for a while... I was freezing cold, walking back to Bushwick, I looked up and saw blue balloons on blue skies. It's all going to be alright.
December 31: Central Park. I continued wandering. I found a saxophone player. It made me wonder why the artist is always standing alone. All those people around scurrying by. He just stood out, to me at least.
December 31, 2014: Last day of 2014. I wandered through 30 degree weather in the concrete jungle, searching for life. Searching to capture the living for the last time in 2014. Everyone was busy heading to do some shopping or hurrying by to their destination. As I walked up the stairs of the 57th ave train station through a crack in the stairwell I spotted him. He was still. He was focused on his guitar. He wasn't rushing. He was just standing there playing his guitar. He was beautiful. I wonder If he'll ever know I took his picture. I wonder if there's a picture of me out there somewhere I don't know about. Mr. Guitar player.
George has always been interesting to me. Since I moved in to my 100 year old apartment in midtown, I noticed he carries an air of mystery. He's not just another old janitor, he's not just a crazy old man. Throughout the months I find myself engrossed in conversations with him when I take out my trash about recycling, about his aches and pains, about his doctor visits, or about the neighbors. We joke around about who's going to cook breakfast or make coffee. Still I felt like I knew nothing about George and the mystery was still there. My old radiator heater was leaking water all over my living room so George had to come up stairs to fix it. I live at the top floor of my building, it takes 6 staircases to get up here and we don't have an elevator. When I opened the door I found George struggling to breathe and holding his lower back. It made me feel terrible. I wished that I could've fixed the damn heater myself. After he caught his breath he sat inside working on the heater. I found this my opportunity to pick his brain and know more about him. George told me he used to be in the air force. His eyes lit up when he told me about all the places he would travel. He told me about his travels to Mexico and about how he and his buddies would drink and dance with the local senoritas and just live. He told me he loved wearing his uniform, told me it made him proud and that his mom would worry about him being in the service but he didn't care, he was living his dream. His excitement was so contagious. I asked him if he felt fulfilled and if he felt he had maximized his life. He got quiet for a moment and nodded. He said, "I left the air force, I promised myself I would re enlist one day but I never did. I regret that so much. I wanted to travel again. I wanted to get more marks on my uniform. People respect you more when you have more marks. But, I gave it all up. I fucked it all up. It was all for some damn woman that's not even around." He laughed loudly and got back to fixing the heater.
I believe that we are all lost in someway or another. I believe that we all wander and wonder. I believe that sometimes we hide our fears, our imperfections, our dreams, our reality from others because we believe that we are alone in the feelings we encounter, we believe that no one will understand. I had a workout session with Devan and as we took on a hike through an uncharted path we'd never seen we began to speak about our dreams, our fears, our goals, our challenges and our truths. I snapped a few photos along the way. It was freedom. It was freedom to let go of our worldly "personas" our egos and just speak honestly about life. We are the wild ones, the ones with dreams bigger than our realities, we believe in something bigger than ourselves. We believe in the impossible, and even when the world tries to hold us back or tame us... We keep on rising and we find comfort in knowing that there's other of us out there. The universe has a way of connecting us. God bless the wild ones.

.Life Is A Privilege. - Airport Thought
Deej told me, "Life Is A Privilege" You're damn right it is! I guarantee there's someone out there on the verge of death or in a hospital bed pleading and begging for one more chance. It's time we begin to appreciate and not take one moment of life for granted. Love life. Laugh until your stomach hurts, dance the night away, who gives 2 fucks if they don't like it, eat your favorite food and share it with friends, make new friends, toast to life wether you have a dollar or a million, be fancy whether you're thrift store shopping or Louis Vuittoning, love everyone, forgive others, forgive yourself when you fuck up, travel, teach something, learn something, kiss someone, tell people how you feel when you feel, follow your Got damn dreams and believe in your fucking self. Don't apologize for living, loving and appreciating life. I love you. Sam
