Day #28 - In mommy's shoes (Lesson #1)

And, the 'bestest' lesson of the month has been identifying the subject. Whether the photo is composed or taken spontaneously, it's the subject that primarily makes the difference between an ordinary or an extraordinary photo.

'Rule of Thirds' is definitely the one of the biggest, most impactful change to the way I take photos.

Day #26 - Leaf (Lesson #3)

Lighting is the third most important element of taking a good photo. One of the things I've learned during the month is where in my house has the best natural light and, of course, I've used those spots "to the max".

Day #25 - Jenga (Lesson #4)

The 4th most important thing I've learned is the value of thinking in black and white. Not every photo translates best in black and white (as this one shows).

Day #24 - Cufflinks (Lesson #5)

Here's my 5-day countdown to "What makes a good photo?" Macro. Macro, the button with the tulip icon, has been one of my best friends in this challenge. It's the reason my husband's cufflinks are featured in this shot.

Day #22 - Lonely phone

I actually have a black and white pic of this from post-Hurricane Ivan so I knew it was a good subject for this challenge. It is, hands down, one of the favouritest pieces of the things that my husband and I own.

Day #23 - John 4:34

A friend of mine updated her cover photo on Facebook today with a black and white picture featuring a Bible on a plate with cutlery set as if someone was preparing to eat. I instantly felt inspired to re-craft the story. Do you "get it"?

Day #21 - Four

As much as I tried, I just couldn't get the right "feel" I wanted to create with this shot. I'm still not happy with the results but I'm content with the fact that I've captured a moment. Right now, all three of my children can fit in size 4 diapers: an 8-month old, a two-year old and a four-year old. The day we discovered it, it was sort of mind-blowing but it has turned out to be a blessing (especially with the two younger ones) since we only have to buy one set of diapers!

Day #20 - The dress

I couldn't end this challenge without this shot. It's my daughter's very first "going out" dress, which she actually wore to a wedding about 3 weeks after she was born.

Day #19 - Somebody's Watching Me

Almost as soon as I started this challenge, I knew I wanted to take pics of these great lunch bags I bought for my two older children but I just didn't know how without it coming off as looking too staged. I decided on only taking the owl and in the first shot it just so happened that the dog was in the background. Excited by how it looked, I decluttered the background and played around with the positioning of each bag. This is the result..."I always feel like somebody's watching meee!"

Day #18 - Sunbeam

My 4-year-old daughter did this awesome drawing of this house a few days ago, which I wanted to capture. Turns out I took the pic at the right time, just when a sunbeam hit the two upstairs windows perfectly. Reminds me of those annoying morning rays...

Day #17 - Happenstance III

Yesterday, we were all hanging out in the living room and suddenly I realized that I didn't hear my 2-year-old son's voice. When I looked by the couch, he was fast asleep on the ground in a fetal position clutching this pencil!
