┊ iv. A Mission. Finally!┊ More ┊ vi. An Upper Moon...? ┊
‘She’s lucky she’s Kanae’s sister’ Sanemi breathes out in slight exhaustion. Gaining momentum to launch himself up in the air once again. Right on time, the two Pillars are able to spot one another, both in midst air.
“Demon straight ahead!” Kyojuro informs Sanemi before descending back to the ground. “I know that already,” The Wind Pillar mutters to himself before picking up his speed. Sequence of loud thuds grabs Sanemi’s attention, confirming the direction of his destination.
Thankfully, with the help of the ruckus being made, the two Pillars arrived on the scene in an instant. What awaits them has their eyes widening in surprise, the demon is not some lowly ranked ones.
Compared from what has been slayed earlier, this certain one carries an ominous aura. Something more sinister and disturbing that has them in their high alert as soon as they settle their eyes on the demon child.
What more is what seems to be another mizunoto slayer standing in front of him. Sanemi quickly glances at the boy, black and green checkered haori all torned up, some open wounds littering his arms.
‘Shit. We came in too late.’ Sanemi thought, his gaze going back to the demon, eyes locked on its neck.
“Wind Breathing…” With enough strength flowing through his hand, he unsheathed his katana, “Seventh Form,” He mutters before breathing in. Getting leverage, he propelled himself upward effectively gaining the high ground advantage.
“Gale, Sudden Gusts!” Sanemi shouts while swinging his sword with all his strength creating gale-force-like winds right on the demon’s neck. In success, the three humans watch as the head detaches from its body.
The Wind Pillar releases a deep breath, witnessing that the demon is defeated.
He stands on his feet and briefly checks on Tanjiro, making sure that he’s still alive and breathing. Gust of hot wind snaps him out of his daze.
Quick on his feet, Kyojuro charges forward, eyes trained on the young demon. Sanemi watches as the Flame Pillar advances, a little too close from what the Wind Pillar has observed from his past companies.
Coming face to face with his opponent, “Flame Breathing: Second Form!” He begins taking a deep breath and lowering his katana. With his upper body leaning forward, feet digging down into the ground, Kyojuro grips the handle and swings his sword in force.
“Rising Scorching Sun!” With his katana slashing upward, he successfully delivers the form at ease.
As expected, Rui is decapitated through the attack directed at him. Although, the demon appears to be irritated with the Pillars’ advances rather than vanishing.
“All three of you are annoying,” He says in a calm manner, his strings helping him put back his head in place. “Going back and forth on decapitating me…” Rui looks at the humans, eyes particularly looking at the boy.
“You’re all getting in my way when all I want is to get my new loving sister,” His eyes begin bleeding crimson red. His other eyes that read ‘lower five’ visible for the two Pillars to see.
‘I’ve been too careless!’ The two men thought while looking at the young demon that stands before them. Stronger than before.
Rui’s hands began to be painted crimson red, the same way his eyes did earlier. They watch as the blood spreads through his entire hand, just when they thought the young demon fully transformed, the blood continues to flow through his threads.
“Be careful! His threads are hard to cut,” Tanjiro warns the Pillars.
Kyojuro looks at the mizunoto with a warm smile, “I’m sure we can pull through.” Meanwhile Sanemi simply looks at him, “Who do you think we are brat?! Those threads are as soft as a loaf of bread!”
The Wind Pillar shakes his head at the child’s statement, ‘This kid has the guts to say that as if he did not see us cut him in ease.’
“Say, buy me a loaf of bread if I finish him first?” Kyojuro calls out to his companion. Sanemi looks at the Flame Pillar with his brows furrowed together, “Go buy one yourself!”
Tired of being ignored, Rui releases a deep sigh, “I envy humans who don't know when they’re on the brink of death.” He moves his fingers to prepare for attacking them simultaneously, “Now give me my sister!”
“Quit blabbing about ‘your’ sister will you?!” Sanemi responds, irritated with the demon’s nonsense speech.
Noticing the Flame Pillar’s stance, Rui swiftly attacks the three-man group with a flick of his wrists. “Blood Demon Art: Cutting Thread Cage,” He mutters to himself as his threads cages the humans, leaving no room for them to escape.
Tanjiro lets out an audible gasp, looking up at the red strings that’s about to go down and cutting them down to pieces. “Tell me why you didn’t die the first and second time we beheaded you,” Kyojuro asks in a serious manner, keeping his stance steady.
“It’s simple. Knowing that you two would attack me if not in sync then the other would come up to make sure I was killed. I simply did it before you can.” Rui pulls down his hands while Tanjiro watches everything that’s happening in slow motion, his life flashing before his eyes.
“Afterall, you humans are pretentious with your desperate attacks-” The young demon didn’t have time to process as he sees the pale purple eyes look at him as if it can see his soul that wasn’t there in the first place.
‘Impossible but what about…’ Rui thought, “Flame Breathing!” His gaze moved back to where the man in front of him used to stand.
Fortunately for the slayers, the Flame Pillar kept his posture giving him an easy advantage to go through any of his forms. “Fourth Form: Blooming Flame Undulation” He successfully swung his sword in a circular motion.
Kyojuro’s defense is a step closer to their triumph. The form chosen acted as defense for him and the mizunoto boy. All the while paving a way for his companion to move forward with no restriction.
‘It’s warm… I can feel it burning from my fingertips through my whole body,’ The young demon says in his mind. In shock of the quick turn of events. ‘Aside from that…’
Rui looks at the two Pillars with his eyes wide open, huffing and puffing out in anger, ‘How were they able to predict each other? They had been doing attacks that clashed with one another…’
The Flame Pillar has his usual bright smile in sight, irking the young demon more. ‘He could’ve advanced in front of me as soon as he cut through my threads,’ Rui watches as Kyojuro drops his defense way earlier than he should, ‘Why are you letting your guard down?’
It’s as if Kyojuro knows that Sanemi will succeed in beheading him, ‘This is unforgivable! Like I would lose to weak humans! I just want to have a family that protects one another! Is that too much to ask for?!’
He keeps his gaze at the man in front of him, the same unruly man who was advancing earlier with pure disregard of the blonde haired man. ‘How? How are they able to read each other’s attack just like that?!’
It seems like demons are no exemption when it comes to desperate measures. The young demon tries to recover from his small hiccup. As quickly as he can, he holds both his hands up to land another attack but everything seems to have slowed down ever since his cage has been easily sliced.
“Enough with your yapping. Wind Breathing: Sixth Form,” Sanemi mutters, deeming that he’s close enough for the offense to take place. He gains leverage by leaning down, both his hands holding his katana handle with vice-like grip.
The Wind Pillar kept eye-contact with the young demon as the other can’t take his gaze off. Having the demon paralyzed in place, Sanemi proceeds with his advance, “Black Wind Mountain Mist!”
As soon as he completes an uppercut movement, he is able to create an arching slash. This time, Sanemi effectively decapitated the young demon. “You did it” Tanjiro mumbles in amusement, getting a strong smell of something burning, something that can be compared to ash.
“Of course we did!” Kyojuro’s tone is full of pride.
The Wind Pillar rolls his eyes at his partner, ‘Annoying flame bastard really does suit him.’
With Sanemi’s fast reflex and quick sense of his surroundings, he holds his sword once again, holding his guard up. “There’s another one idiot!” He yells to inform Kyojuro, “I don’t see any…” The blonde replies.
The Wind Pillar disappears from Tanjiro’s sight like the wind. “No, not Nezuko!” The mizunoto shouts in panic, he knows who the Pillar is pertaining to. Alas, he sees the man full of scars right next to his sister, “She’s not-”
Sanemi is about to slay the poor demon girl when a crow circles on top of them, the words uttered are enough to halt his murderous intent, “Announcement! Kamado Tanjiro and Nezuko are to be detained.”
“Kamado Tanjiro, who has a scar on his forehead! Nezuko, a female demon with a bamboo muzzle! They’re required to be taken back to headquarters! Alive!”
Those were the last words Tanjiro heard, seeing his sister being released by the Wind Pillar and the Flame Hashira vanishing before his vision fell into darkness.

Yami: Here’s something new for your eyes to see. Today, I’ll give you the chance to see an interview with the main cast! Let’s take a quick break from the romance and action to hear our actors answer questions! Without further ado, I present to you, the main cast!
Kyojuro: That’s a pretty hefty amount of lines right there…
Laughter fills the room as he delivers a lighthearted side comment.
Yami: Please introduce yourselves
Y/n: I played the role of Rengoku Y/n whose a twin of the next one who will speak
Kyojuro: And that would be me, I’m Kyojuro, Flame Pillar. The character fits me perfectly. I hope someone wouldn’t take me out of the picture too early.
Kyojuro proceeds to look at Yami intently causing an uproar of cheering and laughter once again.
Sanemi: Wind Pillar, Sanemi.
Shinobu: Someone does need manners to be taught. Hello everyone, I have the role of being Kanae’s little sister, Shinobu. Thank you for having me.
Her blatant statement earns an eyeroll followed by a chuckle from her victim.
Kanae: Flower Pillar, Kanae. I’m looking forward to the interview.
Mitsuri: Oh! It’s my turn, right? I’m Mitsuri! I took the role of being Kyojuro-san’s kouhai!
You lean forward and look at where the girl is seated, eyes squinting at her.
Y/n: Just him? I taught you way more than he did!
Your reply has the room fall into a cheery state once again.
Mitsuri: Of course, a sister-like role of Y/n. Both on-screen and off-screen!
Obanai: Snake Serpent—I mean Snake Pillar, Obanai. I played as someone who’s deeply in love with Kanroji Mitsuri.
Kyojuro laughs at his statement, supporting his co-star’s pun.
Yami: Ah, Obanai-san? If you don’t mind asking, you’re still wearing a mask even off-screen! Why is that?
Obanai: Oh I’m allergic to him, that’s why
The raven-haired points at Sanemi, the main cast sharing a good laugh while the poor white haired grumbles as he is the group’s target once again. Although, his lips turn up into a smile.
Yami: As for our first question, does the cast have anything they find difficult to do when filming?
Silence engulfs the once cheery room, taking their time to collect their thoughts before answering.
Y/n: I’ll let them answer because I will probably end up spoiling something
You immediately lean back and pretend to zip your mouth shut. Kanae giggles at your honesty.
Kanae: Mine would be the scene shared with Sanemi—
Sanemi: Hey!
Kanae: I’m kidding! It would probably be the scene with demon or anything that has a lot of decapitating involved
Obanai: Difficult…? I would say it would be the role given to me
Kyojuro: I thought your character was merely a Kanroji enthusiast, Obanai-san?
Obanai: It’s hard seeing such beauty for someone unworthy like me~
His response has the room buzzing, Obanai looks at Mitsuri with a knowing smile going as far as throwing a playful wink her way.
Yami: I think you all realized how some of the cast have the complete opposite of the roles given to them
Obanai: I don’t know why I was given that role when I would’ve make the perfect Uzui Tengen honestly
Shinobu: Yeah! You do have everything checked out!
The whole cast agrees in chorus.
Shinobu: Though, you seem to be lacking in the height department. I’m sorry Obanai-san. It’s alright I’m there with you!
Obanai: Okay then, damn…
Shinobu: I’m sorry
Obanai: [Chuckles] No, no it’s alright
Yami: What's your favorite scene in the whole series?
Y/n: Oh! I love this great form of mine! The Hell’s Ma—
You got stopped by Kyojuro’s loud claps and nervous chuckle. Sanemi shaking his head at how you almost slipped out a spoiler.
Kyojuro: And this is who I got replaced with everyone!
Sanemi: Can’t believe you’re questioning why you’re not getting a solo interview
Obanai: [Looking at the camera] Fun fact! This is why we’re all in this interview together everyone!
Shinobu: Oh she really did it without knowing, I thought they were exaggerating!
Y/n: I knew I should’ve kept quiet! I told you I might start spoiling something! I’m sorry everyone! It’s my bad!!
Yami: Our next question would be if you were to become a demon, who would you be?
Sanemi: Are we choosing or making up our own demon self?
Y/n: She did say who which means within the twelve kizuki, duh! It seems like someone is waiting for this specific question to come up.
Sanemi: Like you weren’t. You always whine about how you wanna have Akaza’s role badly!
Y/n: [Looking at the camera] Who wouldn't be right?
Yami: Why Akaza, Y/n-san?
Y/n: Have you seen his compass needle?! That would be cool to have, I would like that… That’s the gem on my part if I would have the demon role. Also, his unique way of bare-fist fight!
Mitsuri: I think Nakime (Biwa Lady) has a pretty neat demon technique. Not much of a work. The beautiful melody tied with the unique technique is a big plus! Oh a stunning outfit too might I add!
Kanae: I would say, Enmu!
Sanemi: Well that’s a sight to see
The room erupts in giggles.
Kanae: Hey!
Y/n: Yeah hey! You’ve only replied to Kanae the whole interview!
Sanemi: [Shrugs] You haven’t said anything interesting
Kyojuro: Hey! That’s my sister!
Y/n: Sanemi doesn’t need to choose a demon, he’s already one himself
Kanae: As I was saying, Enmu! He has a great ability though limited. I think I’ll be a better demon than him
Shinobu: You would make a better demon than him
Kanae: Thank you
Shinobu: I would pick Kinasa, her technique might be common but I think she’s a pretty strong demon especially the blade on her hair? Sign me up.

Sanemi and Kyojuro: Kokushibo
Kyojuro: Oh enlighten us, Sanemi-chan!
Sanemi: I told you not to call me that
Y/n: Go on Sanemi-chan~
Sanemi: You two are indeed siblings, I swear. Kokushibo uses a sword compared to other demons and that would be right in my comfort zone. Besides, I can perfect my forms in a long period of time just like he did.
Kyojuro: Hey! That was gonna be my answer!
Y/n: Boo! You two are no fun, you never jump out of your “comfort zone”!
Amusingly, you and Sanemi begin mocking each other, a sight for everyone to see. Something they are fond of.
Obanai: Those bratty kids aside, mine would be Rui. His technique is unique out of all twelve kizuki in my opinion. At first I’ll be seen as some weak since all I can do is produce thread but then Blood Demon Art: Cutting Thread Cage
The cast watches as Obanai mimics the young child actor’s hand movement, laughter and applause filling the room.
Yami: Obanai-san seems passionate about Rui’s technique
Sanemi: He won’t shut up about the technique ever since Rui’s scene
Obanai: It was too cool to not talk about!
Yami: The next question might be one of the hard ones to answer—
Shinobu: Oh if it’s gonna be someone who’s grumpy on the set then we won’t hesitate to out him, Yami-chan
Sanemi: Why am I always the bullied one?!
Y/n: Because you’re adorable when teased!
Sanemi: Where’s Giyuu when he’s most needed?
Shinobu: Yeah that’s the main reason. Tomioka-san is not present.
Her statement made the room liven up, laughing at her quick response.
Yami: Guys, I need to finish the questions here please (ಥ﹏ಥ)
Kanae: Please go ahead, Yami-san. Don’t mind their banters
Yami: A question for everyone again, who do you like most on set?
Mitsuri: The twins! I love them so much, especially my screentime with them, they really made me feel welcomed in the Rengoku family. It was as if I was adopted as soon as I had my first scene with them!
Kanae: I would say Tanjiro-kun, though I don’t have many scenes with him, he’s a real sweetheart both on and off-set.
Y/n: I like Kinasa-san, she’s a real cutie behind all that makeup! Ah, she’s really friendly. A great actress, I got goosebumps when I saw one of her scenes.
Obanai: Rui.
Yami: You seem fascinated by the child actor
Obanai: He’s my son now
Kyojuro: [In character] Obanai-san, you’re breaking the only rule of the Demon Slayer Corps. I say off with his head!
Obanai: [In character] I swear little Rui wouldn’t hurt a human!
Sanemi: [In character] Fool! He already ate like 80 humans!
Obanai: Oh yeah… Oh well, off with his head, boys!
Yami: As I was saying! Who do you like on set?
Kyojuro: I might be basic with this answer but our dear master! He always brings hot coffee on set, a life-saver really!
Shinobu: Though it looks like we bully him all the time, Tomioka-san is someone I get along with the most. A keeper.
Sanemi: You’re all fake, my answer was gonna be all of you
Main cast: Awwwww, our adorable Sanemi
Sanemi: Is there a least liked on set question, Yami-san?
Yami: Yeah, that’ll be the next question!
Sanemi: Then all of them
Main cast: Tsundere!
Yami: How about the others?
Main cast: [In unison] Sanemi
Laughter fills the room once again.
Yami: Ah, this is an interesting one, who has the best muscles out of all the men?
The girls: Gyomei-san!
Mitsuri: I can’t believe those biceps were real! Not an ounce of CGI was put in it!
Yami: Those were real?!
Shinobu: Unbelievable right?
Kyojuro: I was gonna say me…
Sanemi: I have more muscles than you, shut up!
Obanai: I was gonna say Muzan-san
Sanemi quickly leans forward to get a better look of his co-star.
Sanemi: Are you for real?
Soon, all eyes are on the poor raven-haired.
Obanai: Y’all didn’t see him flex his muscles? He even has back muscles!
Shinobu: I didn’t really have any scenes with him [shrugs]
Kanae: Same here
Sanemi: [Light hearted] Nah, you’re on your own this time around
The twins: No, he’s got a point
Sanemi: You’re all—I give up
Yami: [Giggling] The next question is specifically for Obanai and Mitsuri! Were the feelings real?
Obanai: Oh no, darling~ This right here, [holds Mitsuri’s hand] is called great chemistry
Mitsuri: [Nodding] Obanai-san really made the chemistry between us work. He was throwing questions after the other as soon as he heard our characters are supposed to be in love
Obanai: I’m trying to be everyone’s favorite!
The cast laughs at his simple statement.
Kyojuro: Why is that Obanai-san?
Obanai: My character is really annoying to the point I get annoyed too
Yami: That must mean you’re a real great actor, Obanai-san
Obanai: Awh, stop it! I’m not~
Shinobu: [Laughing at Obanai] He’s fishing for compliments again!
Yami: Before we end the interview, can we have anyone in the cast give us a subtle spoiler?
Kyojuro: [Does finger gun] Bang!
Y/n: Don't point out who though!
Kyojuro: The bullet is currently bouncing off the walls, it’s all up to you who it will land on. [Shrugs] I won’t see who it’ll be anyway.
Yami: And that concludes the interview! Thank you for reading the Valentine Special!

The question struck the man straight in the heart. Others may view it simply but for Sanemi… It’s something that has him both emotionally and physically captive.
“What is love for me, you say?” Sanemi repeats the question. The other simply nods at him in confirmation, “That’s a pretty hard one,” He says while chuckling, no humor behind it.
It’s as if the one who asked the question revealed a tragic news to him. “I would say love is someone rather than treating it as a feeling,” He starts.
Continuing his mini speech, he takes a deep breath, “Love is often perceived as something romantic. But for me, I came to experience my first love as something familial…”
He looks back at the person, a small smile that has pain behind it, “My first love and first heartbreak.”
“The funny thing is,” Soft sniffles come from Sanemi, surprising not only the other person but also himself. “Everything others say when it comes to love turned out to be true. Who would have known right?!”
He lets out a humorless laugh while he throws his hand in the air, “When they say love makes people dumb? They’re absolutely right. I used to dismiss those cliche quotes of theirs but when I came to experience it firsthand? I was dumbfounded.”
“The classic ‘it’s you and me against the world’? Been there done that shit too.”
“It’s just absurd how love can be both a good and bad thing for us. It will have us thanking the world for having met these certain people and the next thing you know? You’ll be cursing the world for being so cruel to you.”
The person just nods along Sanemi’s words, a first on seeing the man let his guard down and be this vulnerable in front of another person.
“As I’ve said, my first love and very first heartbreak has been my family. Like others, I swore to myself that I will never come to love again…”
“But like any others, I’m a mere human. A special someone is bound to come up and present themself to me… That’s when Y/n came into the picture.”
Sanemi heaves a deep sigh, wiping the tears he didn’t know was rolling down his cheeks, “They were the one who taught me how to love again. Something different from the first time I experienced it. It was as if the love I first came to know is nothing compared to them. It’s something more magical.”
He sneers at himself, “My own take on fairytale if you may,” Shaking his head in the process. “Although I kept pushing them away, they’ve been nothing but persistent. Patience like a saint. It’s like it’s taken out of a movie, right?”
The other person nods, tears welling up in their eyes, touched by the man’s story. “The world likes to fuck with us. They give something that will make us feel like we’re in heaven and then proceed to break us. Guess what’s next? They begin to give us something that has us on a chokehold once again just to leave us begging on our knees like a damn fool.”
“They gave me this person… Y/n, who helped me rebuild everything from the start. Carefully picking up the pieces that were left dormant for who knows how long but when I came to learn how to love again, when they successfully taught me something I thought I wouldn’t come to feel again… The world took them away from me.”
Sanemi’s sniffles are now audible, “The world is indeed cruel… It’s only when they weren’t in this world when I came to realize that I love them.”
“I’m the one to blame for not acknowledging my feelings sooner but…” The man puffs out a breath, fanning himself with the use of his hands, “Why would the world take away something I love? I’ve suffered enough, I endured pain all by myself, I’ve put up walls towards others but when I finally let it down they just decide to take it away from me...”
Sanemi looks at the person with bloodshot eyes, “Love for me is Y/n… L/n Y/n.”
“I only came to love this person romantically and it would stay that way until the next life given to me. They hold a special place in my heart. They’re my only safe place, my haven, my comfort, that's why Y/n is love for me.”
┊ iii. Crossed Paths... Again ┊ More ┊ v. Annoying Flame Bastard ┊
Who would have thought that months can pass by so quickly? To you it has been the same, training and enhancing your skills for those months but to Sanemi it has been wonderful, he can even go as far as saying it's something magical.
Though bummed that he has been on standby ever since he has been announced as the new Wind Pillar, a certain someone was able to serve as a great distraction from being consumed by his frustration.
Sanemi leans back on the bed frame, occupying one of the many beds inside the room. Eyes closed, enjoying the serene atmosphere, “Shinazugawa-san can you grab the herbal tea from the room next door?” The Wind Pillar opens his eyes at the mention of his name.
The Flower Pillar looks back at him with the same soft smile he witnessed the first time, he clicks his tongue at the sudden request and gets up from the bed, “Does it have to be anything specific, or what?”
Kanae shakes her head at him, “I’m sure Shinobu will be there,” Sanemi nods at her words and begins following her directions.
Shinobu peeks from one of the door frames, keeping her presence hidden. She knows how her older sister specifically said that spying on a person is a bad thing but seeing the Wind Pillar visit the mansion often leaves a bad aftertaste on her tongue.
“Brat!” The crow makes its presence known as soon as Sanemi enters the same room as Shinobu, “What?” He diverts his attention to it. Shinobu kept herself busy with the herbs in front of her, ears picking up every detail of the man’s mission. “Here’s your first mission as a Pillar!” The crow’s words pique the Wind Pillar’s interest.
Flutter of wings and a small gust of wind catches Kyojuro’s attention, eyes looking at the crow, waiting for its announcement, “Kyojuro-sama! A mission! You have a mission!” The Flame Pillar hums and downs his drink.
“A demon apparently resides in a forest, the Mizunoto reinforcements sent were said to have fallen down!” Kyojuro listens to the crow’s information intently, carefully placing down his drink.
Sanemi nods along, watching the crow flap its wings, “As per countermeasure, you are partnered with the Flame Pillar.”
“The Wind Pillar will accompany you!”
Knowing the required information, the two began to embark on their journey. As if they reached out to one another, the Wind and Flame Pillar manage to bump into each other. Seeing that the sun is still wide in the open, the two stare at each other as if it’ll call the moon out.
“Do you think sweet potatoes are delicious?” Kyojuro asks out of the blue.
‘Ah I see, he’s ‘Kyo’ she was pertaining to,’ Sanemi groaned in his head.
The Wind Pillar merely shrugs his shoulders at the other, “They’re alright.”
Kyojuro nods his head repeatedly, walking ahead of him while humming before uttering, “Indeed! They’re tasty!” He gives a pat or two on Sanemi’s shoulder, passing by him.
“I know a place! Come follow!” The Flame Pillar didn’t wait for the other’s answer and continued on walking, “What?” Sanemi mutters, genuinely confused by the scene unfolding.
The older of the two turns on his heel only to see Kyojuro’s broad back, “Hey! We’re here to slay demons, not go on a food trip!” Sanemi yells after him, irritated by his carefreeness.
Kyojuro halts, still not facing Sanemi, “You think there’s a demon out with the sun shining brightly?” Looking over his shoulder, his smile is visible for the other to see, “I thought you were a Pillar? How come you don’t know a simple fact?”
His words angered Sanemi more, veins becoming prominent on his forehead, “I’m not dumb! I know that!”
Kyojuro hums and resumes walking leisurely, “Then why ask the obvious?”
Despite their quarrel, they finally reached one of Kyojuro’s favorite food stalls. Fortunately, the demon resides near the mountain where the vendor that sells freshly cooked sweet potatoes, a food that will burn not only your hands but also your tongue when eaten. Nevertheless, the food is worth devouring.
Sanemi’s eyes widened in surprise, stuffing himself full with the sweet delight in his hands. He has to give credit to Kyojuro, the vendor who makes the best sweet potato he ever tasted, “This is delicious,” He mumbles to himself.
“Delicious!” Kyojuro shouts in delight, shoulders perking up in excitement. His sudden exclaim catches Sanemi’s attention who sits beside him, “Delicious!” Again, the Flame Pillar yells after taking a bite.
This goes on until the Wind Pillar loses his count of the other’s loud claims, “Delicious!” Kyojuro says while taking his last bite, “We know that already,” Sanemi grumbles, the poor sweet potato crumbling under his grip.
“Do you want more? Because I sure want one more!” Kyojuro’s eyes sparkle while looking at Sanemi. “No,” His answer is enough for the Flame Pillar to leave his sight to get another sweet potato.
Unfortunately for Sanemi, the moon painfully takes its time before showing up. “Thank you for the delicious food, I’ll come back again!” Kyojuro says as they bid farewell to the vendor.
The two continue with their original agenda, both their feet taking them deep inside the forest. The Pillars stumble upon a very disturbing scene, mizunotos lie in front of them, all deeply wounded and worn out.
“Call Kakushi here! Quick!” Kyojuro exclaims, crouching down to check on the fallen slayers.
‘Just who does he think he is ordering me like that? Besides, I was already on it! Dumbass.’ Sanemi grits his teeth together and holds himself back.
He sees his crow flying above them, he quickly glances at his partner and asks “Who’s an expert when it comes to antidotes?” The question made the Flame Pillar look at him in confusion.
“There's webs everywhere. Might have a slight chance that the demon might possess- Just tell me who!” Sanemi yells in frustration, “Shinobu… Probably” He replies with his eyes back at the poor slayer.
“Hey you!” The Wind Pillar waves his hand in the air, catching his crow’s attention. “You heard us right?! Go!” His crow abides his instructions not before pecking his head. Sanemi curses under his breath and glares at the crow.
Kyojuro gently lays down the person and mutters an apology for not arriving sooner, “We better go,” Sanemi informs the other with his fist clenched.
While they keep going further into the forest’s heart, Kyojuro is the first one to break the silence, the previous event reminding him of something you told him, “I heard you tried killing my sister.”
Surprisingly, the man’s voice is calm and indoor, a first for the Wind Pillar to hear. Finally looking at the other, another shock is presented, Kyojuro looks back at him without his lips stretched in a smile, “I didn’t.”
“If I did then it wasn’t my intention,” Sanemi breaks eye-contact, a chilling feeling sent down his spine. As much as the Flame Pillar is welcoming, he can be the total opposite.
Kyojuro walks past him, two different paths in front of them, “You better be sure. If there’s one thing I hate other than demons it would be others laying a finger on my loved ones,” He turns to face his companion, his smile back on his face, “I’ll be taking the right path!”
Having no intention to stay and wait for the other’s response, Kyojuro breathes out before speeding away from Sanemi.
“That annoying flame bastard” Sanemi grumbles under his breath and takes the left path.
A loud crackling sound that can be compared to a thunder catches Sanemi’s attention. On his high alert, he quickly gains momentum and launches upward, scanning the area, looking on where it came from.
Seeing the weirdly placed small house, the Wind Pillar immediately makes his way to where it’s located. Setting foot at the afloat house, he sees a blonde kid, chest heaving, breath wheezing from having a hard time to breath.
“I knew it,” He kneels down beside the boy and observes the venom that’s spreading rather quickly on his hand. “Stay with me. Help is on the way,” Sanemi says while tapping the boy’s cheek.
The Wind Pillar is about to check his surroundings when he’s met with purple eyes, he suppresses a gasp. “Aren’t you Kanae’s sister?” He asks, masking his startled state. “Aren’t you the embarrassing Pillar?” Shinobu replies while scanning Zenitsu’s condition.
“You seem to have no respect for your senior,” He mutters with a click of his tongue, pointing at where the venom was injected. Shinobu hums and pulls out the necessary medicine, “Same can be said to you,” Sanemi sneers and responds, “Touche.”
Inosuke takes labored breaths, feeling the sharp pain from his sides and shoulders. Still, he stands his ground and looks at the opponent in front of him. “He really starts to rub on me,” He exclaims while Tanjiro’s image appears in his mind.
As he was about to charge forward, something warm started to engulf the area making him stumble back on his own feet, losing balance from shock.
“Flame Breathing!” Kyojuro breathes in, a jolly smile present on his face.
‘Why is it suddenly warm?’ Inosuke thought, looking back at where his opponent stood.
“First Form: Unknowing Fire” He hears someone say together with the sound of a katana being sheathed back to its scabbard. The boy lets out a small gasp as he looks back at his beheaded opponent.
“He did it with ease… How? Amazing.” Inosuke mumbles to himself, the Flame Pillar coming in his view once the demon’s body dissipates in thin air. There stands someone with a build stronger than others, one that Inosuke now admires.
Kyojuro looks back, hearing someone causing a small ruckus, “Hey! You’re damn crazy strong! Fight me!” Inosuke yells while holding his katana up in the air. The Flame Pillar simply looks at him before continuing to search the area for more demons, completely ignoring Inosuke.
The younger shouts in frustration, “Hey! Strong man! Come back here!” About to come after the Flame Pillar, he feels another sharp pain from his side leaving him immobilized. Luckily, a group of Kakushi arrives in time to treat and restrain him.

After the meeting is concluded, Sanemi stands with his new comrades, head a little lowered from shame. “There’s a tradition for newly selected Pillars which also applies to both new and current Pillars,” Gyomei starts off.
Continuing where he left off, the eldest looks between Sanemi and Obanai, “You two would need to spar with one of the current Pillars… Though, we seem to have a problem with that,” His gaze particularly lingering on the rowdy one.
“Besides the Pillars not being able to be available anytime they want, chemistry and personality plays a big role.” The Rock Pillar holds off for a second before resuming, “Tengen is not around most of the time, today included, as he is often out on missions. Kanae has her hands full with the Butterfly Mansion. As for Muichiro…”
“A pillar’s time is extremely important, I don't have time for those who are weak” The Mist Pillar states before leaving the headquarters.
The scarred man’s eye twitches at his words, ‘That brat had the guts to say that!’
Obanai merely snickers at the younger person's statement.
“That leaves me, Kyojuro, and Giyuu.” Gyomei informs the two.
Sanemi grumbles under his breath and patiently waits through the Rock Pillar’s rambling, “I’ll spar with mister scarface!” Kyojuro’s booming voice snaps the Wind Pillar back to reality. In decency, Sanemi raises his pointer finger for a query.
Getting a nod from the elder, “Can I choose?” He asks, eyes full of determination to get rid of the Flame Pillar. “No” is the only thing he hears before he sees the back of Kyojuro with his hand gesturing to follow him. Begrudgingly, Sanemi did as told.
“Can I choose?” Sanemi hears Obanai’s voice before getting a hum of approval from the Rock Pillar making the Wind Pillar groan in displeasure. “I’ll be your spar partner for today,” Obanai lowers his head at the Water Pillar a polite gesture to meet the other, “I guess so,” Giyuu mumbles.
Leaving the headquarters, the route they’re taking starts to look familiar. Painfully way too familiar for the Wind Pillar. Sanemi looks up and sees the same gate he left earlier in broad daylight. “You gotta be kidding me,” He mutters while entering the mansion.
As soon as the two men set foot inside, they’re immediately greeted with three people, one being someone Sanemi thought he would not see sooner.
“Oh great Kyo! Mitsuri arrived earlier-” You halt your words and look at the person behind your twin.
With an amused look, you chuckle at the man, “Nice having you here… Again” You say in between small laughs, “What brings you here?” Sanemi is about to answer your question as rudely as he can when the Flame Pillar chimes in.
“We’re gonna spar!” Kyojuro’s claim makes you look at him, “What about Mitsuri?” You hesitantly ask while your twin rests his hand on top of Senjuro’s head. “You train her for today,” The pillar simply replies.
“You already know what I’m teaching her. It’ll be a good thing for you too,” He added, hand ruffling his younger brother’s hair.
‘Noooo, my precious self-training’ You whine in your mind.
Left with no choice, you nod along to his words. “But I get to spar with him if I successfully taught Mitsuri?” You offer Kyojuro, eyes shining in anticipation. Holding the thought for a second, your twin gives in and holds out a hand to shake.
While the two of you seal the deal, a vein becomes prominent in Sanemi’s forehead, irritated by the two. “Don’t I get a say on this?” He says through gritted teeth, “Uhhh… It’s no use,” A high-pitched voice pipes in.
“What do you mean it’s no use?!” Sanemi’s anger rising up as minute passes by, Mitsuri holds her breath in fear of angering the Wind Pillar more, “Once they have their say on it, they wouldn’t budge!” She squeaks out in one breath.
“Alright, let’s get warmed up!” Kyojuro exclaims while patting his own shoulder. “Ah, I miss the feel of thrill,” You mumble with a smile on your face, tailing your twin to where the training ground is located.
You hiss as you bump into Kyojuro’s strong back, “Hey, move it-” Your words are cut off with the Flame Pillar’s sudden declaration, “The bangs look awful on you, Y/n!”
Thanks to Kyojuro’s straightforward nature, Mitsuri has to suffer with a training that she’s not used to. “Again! Come at me again! Is that all you got?!” Your voice overpowers the two Pillars sparring next to you.
‘That gives an idea or two,’ Sanemi thought while glancing at you, all fired up with your twin’s empty words, ‘Definitely wouldn’t want a woman like that’ He shivers at the thought.
“Keep your eyes on your opponent, mister scarface!” Kyojuro yells while charging at him at speed. Sanemi gets irked by what the bright man has been calling him all morning, “Like I would to the likes of you!”
“Stop calling me that would you?!” He added. “Mister intruder!” Kyojuro quickly complies and clashes his wooden sword with the wind pillar. That just adds a cherry on top, Sanemi’s grip around his wooden sword tightens and tries to match the other’s strength.
“I admit defeat Y/n-chan~”
Mitsuri lays on the ground, groaning and moaning from the pain that shoots all over her body, too worn out to think about how dirty the floor is, all her mind can register is how the cold floor soothes her pain.
You stand proud with your chest puffed out, chin held up high. Kyojuro stops from advancing, giving Sanemi a time to catch his breath, wheezing both in pain and exhaustion.
“You failed. You didn’t teach her the third form!” The older of the twin states, “What?! No, I just did!” You complain at him, almost whining in protest. “You sparred with her, not train!” Kyojuro exclaims in his ‘indoor’ voice.
“But I really wanna spar with him!” You whine at Kyojuro while pointing your wooden sword at the Wind Pillar who finally falls square on his butt, only realizing how worn out he is and at his limit.
Sanemi keeps his eyes trained on the twins, chest heaving, “Please onii-chan” The Wind Pillar swears he saw that evil smile and mischievous glint in your gold and red eyes.
Kyojuro sheaths his wooden sword and crosses his arms over his chest, this gets your hopes up, his silence fooling you into thinking for a good outcome, “No, you did not meet the agreement!”
You jut out your bottom lip, throwing a childish tantrum at him, “Boo! You suck!” You protest while aiming at him before launching the wooden sword at Kyojuro in the blink of an eye. Sanemi looks at the Flame Pillar, not surprised to see that he’s holding the wooden sword.
‘Yup. Totally don’t want her,’ The Wind Pillar thought before it drifted off to a certain sweet smile, those kind eyes, and dreamy-like soft voice, ‘She’s a different talk though.’
Sanemi groans out loud, sharp pain shooting on his biceps, “Who said we’re done?” Kyojuro says with the same damned smile on his lips. The sun is yet to set, he definitely has a lot of time to defeat the flame bastard.
“Guess it’s enough dilly dallying huh?” Sanemi says while getting up and fixing his form to fight Kyojuro. “Are we allowed to use forms?” He asks while holding his wooden sword. Meanwhile, Kyojuro tosses your wooden sword back at you.
“Just this one time” He replies while holding his own wooden sword, copying the Wind Pillar’s stance. “I did not perfect this one yet but it’s all or nothing,” Sanemi takes a deep breath in allowing himself to relax his aching muscles.
Mitsuri immediately sits up feeling the drastic change of atmosphere, “What’s happening? What’s happening?” She repeats her words while staring at the two Pillars. “Shhh, this is getting interesting, Mitsuri.” You put your index finger in front of your lips in a shushing manner.
The two of you giggle at each other and look back at the two men.
‘There’s no way he can beat him,’ You say in your mind, arms crossing over your chest. Eyes looking at your twin, his form relaxed as ever. Kyojuro can easily go through any of the forms with just a slight change which makes you confident with him.
As for the Wind Pillar, you watch while he takes quite a deep breathing, his eyes fluttering close. ‘Talk about great concentration,’ You thought as you observed any slight movement of his muscle.
“Flame Breathing: First Form,” Kyojuro prepares himself to dash in front of the Wind Pillar. With enough pressure put in his feet, he breathes out and focuses himself to lighten his body, he lifts his feet off the ground giving an illusion he’s hovering.
To everyone’s surprise, Sanemi walks a few steps back making a pathway for himself. With enough distance between him and his opponent, the Wind Pillar starts advancing and does a backflip out of nowhere, all while he has a good grip on his wooden sword, “Wind Breathing,” He mutters, eyes opening to see his target.
‘What kind of form is that?!’ You watch in shock.
The Wind Pillar lives to his title, it’s as if he’s levitating with how he’s still stuck in the air. “Ninth Form…” As soon as Sanemi sees his world turn upside down, he unleashes the attack of the form.
‘I underestimated him too much,’ Kyojuro tells himself, landing on his feet. In an instant, the blonde changes form, “Flame Breathing: Second Form”
“Idaten Typhoon!” Sanemi yells while directing his attack to his spar partner with no remorse.
‘Shit.’ Your eyes widen at the destructive attack, “Kyojuro!” You shout in concern.
Kyojuro quickly redirects his attack upward, moving his upper body to correct his posture, “Rising Scorching Sun!”
Their chest heaves after using a powerful attack, both of them have their backs turned to each other. “No way…” Mitsuri mumbles while looking at them with wide eyes, her eyes not believing what just happened.
“It’s a… draw?” You say in shock seeing both of their wooden swords broken with the brute force they directed at each other. Kyojuro’s hearty laugh snaps you out of your trance, “As expected from the Wind Pillar!”
The Pillars turn and face each other, Sanemi’s eyes landing on the broken wooden sword held by the Flame Pillar. “You manage to dodge that?” He says while letting out a fake disappointed sigh.
‘What does he mean he hasn't perfected that disastrous form?!’ You keep your eyes at Sanemi, still in shock at the event.

You woke up from the sun peeking through your eyelids causing them to flutter open after a few seconds of no luck on drifting back to sleep.
You start your day per usual but decide to at least take a walk and leisure with the limited free time you have in hand. Entering a mall you usually go to kill some time.
Though, it seems to be your lucky day as your repetitive day takes a drastic turn. Your eyes catch a glimpse of a certain guy, one you can say is on par with a Greek God’s looks.
You don’t care if someone called you basic with your taste but nothing beats a tall, dark, and handsome guy. To add cherry on top, he seems to be the mysterious type too.
He’s there with what seems to be two friends standing behind him, glasses on the bridge of their noses while he oh-so-gracefully and delicately flips through the pages of the book from the shelf.
Mustering all the courage you have left in your body, you take a deep breath and approach the mysterious guy. Before you can approach and tap his shoulders, a hand catches your wrist, a tight grip around it.
An audible gasp slips past your lips, shocked by what happened. You look up to see who rudely interrupted only to see one of his ‘friends.’
“Excuse you? Let go” Your tone laced with irritation. The one holding your wrist has his brows furrowed as if glaring at you like you did something unforgivable. Meanwhile, his other friend is in a protective stance in front of the mysterious guy.
You got no reply from the rude guy and he’s still not letting go of your wrist until the mysterious guy finally snaps back into reality feeling the tensed atmosphere.
The guy’s eyes stare at where your hand is halted before moving to scan your face, “You can let go of them, Penguin.”
Your face distorts in confusion, “Penguin?” You feel the pressure from your wrist fading away as soon as he hears from the guy. “Who are you?” The guy directed his question to you, fully disregarding the visible confusion on your face.
The guy raises an eyebrow at you while you gawk at him, taking in his whole appearance: his raven hair that shines dark blue under the fluorescent lights, his tan skin that has beautiful tribal tattoos etched on them, his chiseled face as if it were crafted by hand, and lastly the bags under his eyes that ties up his whole appeal.
The red haired ‘friend’ clears his throat making you jump in your place, blinking back to earth. Your face heats up feeling three pairs of eyes on you, “Y/n…” You manage to squeak out.
“I’m sorry, you don’t strike someone who I’ve met before” His rough and deep voice that vibrates through his chest makes your heart swoon more.
You shake your head at him, “No no, this is the first we met.”
The red haired chimes in the conversation after looking at his watch, “Sorry to interrupt sir but there’s an emergency message I received from Dr. Chopper” The whole situation with his two friends makes you more curious than confused. Intrigued to unveil more.
The guy hums and nods at him before looking back at you, “I’m sorry, darling. That’ll be my cue to leave… Is there anything you would like to say?” His voice is warm and welcoming.
Blood rushes up to your face as it heats up from the pet name he uttered, you try to cover it by coughing into your hand and diverting your attention to break eye-contact.
“I was gonna ask for your number” You whisper to yourself, “That’s only if you’re comfortable with it!” You voice out clearer.
The guy blinks one, two, three times and tightly smiles, “I’m sorry I didn’t quite catch that” You choke on your own spit afraid of uttering the same words again.
“They said can they get your number, sir” The Penguin guy repeats your words boldly. Your eyes widened and looked at him in shock and betrayal.
To your surprise, the guy simply smirks and chuckles, “Not even gonna ask my name, amor?”
There goes your heart skipping a beat merely from his words, “Well… I…” You stammer out.
The guy holds out his hand and the red haired immediately places a call card on his alluring sun kissed hand, “Trafalgar Law. I’ll be waiting for your call, darling.”
He seems to have a way with his smooth talk as he walks closer to you and hands over the small card on your palm, “You will?”
Law gives small taps on your closed fingers around the card, “I sure will,” With those words, he brings the back of your hand closer to him and leaves a lingering kiss on it.
