So phase con day after review:
It honestly went amazing. Sure there was scuff, like fish man forgot the cookies for Shiinas cookies for cookies and lots of small technical delays, but it genuinely felt like a precovid anime con, where it's like everyone has this thing in common.
The phase community was super engaged and excited for each other. They made spontaneous pop up events and meet ups, made freebies like ribbons, stickers and random things to give out, and organized trading of the randomized talent merch that came with the registration bag. Multiple times someone's sad bee or plush or merch bag was lost and people would announce it on twitter and make sure it got back to them. People brought in stuff from lucky boxes of talents they don't watch to give away if they find a fan of that girl. I saw one cosplayer receive a daki and acrylics or charms of the girl she was cosplaying.
There was always something going on, if not a panel or karaoke then there's one of the phase girls exploring on the robot. I actually ended up not having any time to hang in the game room between events like I usually do at cons. Which was unfortunate cause I met a lot of people into mtg and getting into oshi push.
Oh and they did fix the official phase booth line day 2. Someone made an excel sheet of everything they had, blacked out the few sold out items, and it was distributed and picked up while in line so they could pack it up while you wait. Not that there was very much con exclusive merch. Most of all of it was drops they had sold or announced online before.
and some other random notes before I forget.
I didn't get to meet Shiina but gf did and asked her to bless our sad bee and to record a shout out to me.
I won 2 lost 2 and had 1 no show for the oshi push tournament so the deck I made a week before the con worked decently well.
The attendees were like 90% 25 or older white, asian, or southeast asian men. Either cause that's the fan demographics or the cons proximity to silicon valley.
And about the Bibi cosplayer foot juice thing that happened, huge nothingburger. It was just an ethot cosplayer copying what happened at the park outside fanime last month for attention. The con shut it down immediately since she was selling alcohol.
