Sometimes there’s a wizard on your blog, and sometimes there’s a wizard in your BOG. You never know, we could be anywhere. Log
I wish I had a bog to my name, but alack and alas, the fens are not mine to claim in such a fashion and thus the marshland shall remain a mystery beyond my ken in it's daily workings.
Celebrate the biodiversity of Northeastern North America's bogs, with my new Bog Life of the Northeast poster. Just added to my ETSY SHOP, as well as all the original watercolor paintings. What's your favorite bog species?
actually another theme for my summer reading that would really work with the season (in my head at least) is wetlands: marshes & bogs & swamps & fens. there’s soooo so many good options for that, including books i loved and have been meaning to reread, and books that have been on my tbr for a while
it was actually my plan for two summers ago but then i was too busy being ✨morbidly depressed✨
finished the secret lives of country gentlemen earlier, which means i’ve now logged a book both days so far this month! it’s been a slow reading year so far mostly bc i’ve been doing a lot of embroidery and listening to a lot of podcasts, so that feels pretty good—as may be obvious from that post i made yesterday i really want to get a lot of reading done this summer.
anyways, i really liked it! one of kjc’s better recent novels imho. the swashbuckling certainly didn’t hurt, and the marsh setting did even more to endear it to me. i did come away thinking more about how good the sisters would be, as a pairing—rough, capable sophy and spoiled, still-finding-her-own-way cecy, than i did the main characters, but oh well.
have already started the sequel and am delighted to discover that it’s about luke 😭
SPOILERS FOR THE PREVIOUS BOOK!!!!!! but ohhhh this one’s gonna be good isn’t it

I found a lovely snail at work who was dried out so I let him have a shower and he seemed to enjoy it!! 🐌🚿
Joy and whimsy detected! This snower (snail shower) is joyful and whimsical! 🐌🚿

if you're writing and find yourself thinking 'this is too weird/gross/offputting/esoteric/ambitious/catered to my specific interests + sure to push away a broader audience' that is the devil speaking and it is a lie. you are already firmly on the right path and you need to double down
