Alicia spotted her cousin as she came into view. She waved an arm before walking to the edge of the water. “Well duh I found it, my sense of direction is not the best but here…I know here.” She nodded, the wind blew and whipped some of her hair around. “I’m coming in.” She smiled as she began to disrobe and setting her clothes under a rock before walking into the water. It was pretty cold and she yelped a little before diving in and swimming to her cousin. “Just promise if we get to far out you will help me swim back?”

Sandra grinned, waiting for the girl to join her. “I know you are human, but sometimes I feel as if you can hear the sea’s call.” Alicia was decent with directions, but the woman found the hidden cove without difficulty. Even if she followed Sandra’s directions perfectly, it was still a difficult spot to find. Sandy chuckled at her cousin’s yelp, then sputtered when the woman almost whipped her with her hair. “Smooth, Allie.” She grinned. “You know I would. I’d never hear the end of it if I let my favorite cousin drown.”

Lila smiled as she slowly shook her head from side to side. “Well if I’m being honest I am laughing just a little bit. But only because where I work I see this sort of thing about every day. So there is my amusement.” She explained with a shrug of her shoulders as she tucked some of her blonde hair behind her ear. “Good rule of thumb is isolate a section and give it at minimum three blows.” She explained with a playful smile. 

Taking a large gulp of water, Sandy felt her tongue finally begin to cool. The ice cubes helped more than she wanted to admit. It was a foolish mistake not to wait for her food to cool, but she was hungry. With all the moving of furniture she was doing, she hadn’t had a chance to eat. “Glad to know that I am not alone in the things not to do category.” She lifted her eyebrow. There was no way it was that easy. Still she had to try. Picking up a new slice, she warily did as the other woman suggested, surprised that it did indeed work.

“Yes, that would be me,” she smiled warmly at the woman as she entered her office. “Ohh, well it is good you came here, please have a seat,” she smiled as she gestured towards the open seat across from her desk. “Would you like some water or tea? Oh and you can just all me Eleanor,” she reached out extending her hand as she introduced herself. 

Entering the office, Sandra took the seat across from the woman. She was so glad that she was not one of those stuffy academics who held themselves above everyone else. She actually felt welcome in the woman’s office. “Tea would be lovely. Thank you, Eleanor. I’m Sandra McCoy. I do apologize for not making an appointment.” She took her hand, smiling warmly at the woman as she shook it.

Skyler was enjoying her meal, when the woman had her outburst. She tried not to snicker, but it was hopeless, it spilled out of her without being able to hold back. “I’m sorry,” she said. ‘You just reminded me of myself. It was like looking in a mirror.” 

“I’m glad I’m not the only one who can’t wait.” She chuckled to herself, placing the food back on the plate. “It looks so tempting when it is nice and hot like this, but it is a trap.” She gestured to the pie in front of her. “Would you care for a slice? I can’t eat this whole thing myself.”

Somewhere near the water, the sand dug in between Alicia’s toes. The young dishwater blond girl felt safe here, her new location felt odd and unfamiliar. People made fun of her accent and the way she talked, the only time she felt safe and familiar was was when she was in the company of her friend. So her she stood on the shore, waiting for her beloved cousin. She traced a design in the sand with the toe of her foot, dragging against the wet sand as she waited for her cousin to appear. The young female looked up with a sweet smile as her cousin appeared. But as the other female came into view, Alicia instantly felt at ease.

Sandra was running terribly late. She had promised to meet her cousin in the afternoon, but judging by the position of the sun, it was nearly sundown. Swimming as quickly as she could, the woman battled the tide, finally spotting a blonde on the shore. It was too far to see any certain features, but from the way that the figure practically danced upon the sand, Sandra doubted that it could be anyone else aside from her beloved cousin. “I see you found the spot.” Sandra stayed within the water, her tail covered below the waves. “Shall I come onto land or will you be following me into the sea?”

Alicia smiled a little and shook her head. She bit her lip as she thought back on her life. “Well I had a baby and no college degree and working at bars was easy enough plus tips. And you went to school and decided on teaching!” She nodded and smiled at Sandra as she rested her head on the other girls shoulder. “But I do wonder how the world got me where I am. Sometimes it feels like an alternate universe or something.” 

“Allie, I teach children how to throw paint at things and call it art. I’m not sure that would require a degree.” She did adore going through school, but she loved children far too much to put much thought into the minutia of the field. “Perhaps we are. Maybe in another world, you are really a Bond girl, helping him save the world.”

“Hot!” As unladylike as it was, Sandra stuck her tongue out, waving her hand in front of it before reaching for her drink. There was no winning with pizza. If you ate it fresh, the cheese was the perfect amount of melted, but letting it cool meant no risk of burning your mouth. Sandy turned, arching an eyebrow at the person next to her. “I suppose that you think this is funny.”

Lee smiled as she listened to the way the woman spoke about her kind. “Well maybe that’s true,” she spoke more softly now. She paused and thoughtfully placed her hands in her lap. “Well I don’t know, maybe one day I’ll decided to share. But for now, it’s just something that makes me happy.” The blonde shrugged as she looked down at her feet. 

“As long as it makes you happy, that is the important thing.” She wondered if the woman was truly talented, but something like that could not have been forced. It had to be shared freely.

Eleanor lifted her eyes as the door to her office opened. “Yes,” she smiled as she stood up from her desk. “Please don’t be shy, was there something you needed help with?” She offered with a warm smile.

Sandra grinned opening the door. “Are you Professor Keating?” She walked into the office. “I needed to talk with her about a new strategy for communicating with those who are not as strong with verbal skills as others.”

At Sandra’s comment, Roxy nodded and said “Oh! I didn’t realize, I’m sorry. Are you a family member of Alicia’s?” The dancer had to ask and make sure she wasn’t just some stranger that had seen Alma and Alicia in passing. What sort of babysitter would she be if she let a stranger hold the little one? “Well I’m glad you like the place! I felt the same way when I first moved here.” From where they had been standing moments ago, it wouldn’t take them very long to reach their destination. “Are you planning on staying here long?”

“I’m her cousin. Third cousin twice removed or is it four times removed? I can never remember any of that.” She rolled her eyes, smirking at the ridiculousness of it all. They were cousins. That is all that had ever mattered to Sandy and Alicia. “Do you have any tips?” It was always overwhelming moving to a new city, even if she did know someone. Perhaps she might even be able to count Roxanna as a friend at some point. “At least a few years. This place is far too nice to leave in a hurry.”

”Excellent! Drinks for the both of us then.” He cheered, flagging down the bartender. “I am Krad, by the vay.”

Sandra chuckled. Although she did not know the man across from her, she had a feeling that she would get along with him very well. “It is a pleasure, Krad. I’m Sandra, but feel free to call me Sandy.”

Marcus wasn’t one for laughter, but a smile fond a temporary home on his usually subdued or to some, menacing features.  “Lotus? Hm.” He knew, from the brief time he’d spent traveling, the deep meanings that the flower carried. Moving his hand down the page, a sketch of a flower appeared on his sketch pad. Marcus worked on it for several minutes for, low grunts being the only noise that left him. When he was satisfied, he pushed it towards her. “Well, here’s a start.”

“That was almost a smile. If I get a full smile, do I win a prize?” She grinned leaning forward on the table. Hopefully he would not get upset with a tiny bit of teasing. She did like to know what the man who might be leaving a permanent mark on her body was like. She watched him work, trying to think what else she wanted to add to the tattoo. Her ankle was not the largest canvas, but it could probably fit more than a tiny flower. “That is lovely. Would we be able to add color to it?”

Alicia smiled a little as she listened to her cousin. “That is a very reasonable way to look at life. Probably a very smart way too.” She nodded thoughtfully as she glanced around the dizzyingly beautiful room. “Oh, and I’ve been needing more adventures in my life. I think I’m starting to become a boring mom. Granted a boring mom who bartenders at a strip club, but boring all the same.” 

Sandy chuckled, steadying her cousin. Even if the woman was sobering up, she could not be too careful with what happens. “You could never be a boring mom.” Sandra snorted at the woman’s job description. This was just proof of how weird the family was. “How is it the innocent one ends up working at a strip club while I am teaching children? Something it very wrong with this world.”

“Well still, I mean I only know the basics about being human.” She crinkled her nose a little. “But I think generally most people have a lot to learn, especially when lives are so varying. There is so much we can learn in any amount of time.” She nodded as she pushed back some of her hair. “Oh it’s not really secret, but I like dancing, and singing, but singing is for myself.” She explained with a nod of her head. 

“Humans are the most complex creatures.” She always wondered at their actions and their motives. Although it was not in her lifetime, she wondered how humans ever thought they were the only species. “Dancing and singing, but you do not share it with the world? That is a shame.”

“Of course! The more the merrier, as they say. Sandy, it’s very nice to meet you. This pretty little thing,” she brought her forehead to Alma’s gently before looking back towards Sandra “is Alma. Where did you move from? I hope you’re enjoying it here.. It’s a nice little town.” Roxy gave the other woman a smile. “Shall we start walking?”

Sandra grinned at the girl. “We have already met, although I doubt if she remembers me. Last time I saw Alma, she was about four months old and trying to eat her foot.” She missed so much of watching the little girl grow up, and now she was even more adorable. “I’ve been living in Cypress. It’s not the fun one. This is a small island in Washington. So far this place seems amazing.” She followed Roxanna, knowing the woman had a better idea of where to go then she did.

“Certainly. I’m quite happy to hear that the background and I won’t be in severe need of retouching.” Teddy joked happily, approaching the woman to look at the photograph. She was quite right; the setting had indeed been perfect. “Are you a photographer, new to town?”

“I doubt that you would ever need much retouching.” She smiled at him. There were those who felt the need to erase every blemish and pore from a person, but Sandra was happy to let the life shine through. She didn’t want some perfect model. She wanted a human. “New to town but no photographer. I’m an art teacher.”

“Wow, you really know a lot about this stuff don’t you?” She smiled as she listened to her. “Then again I’m sure you’d have to, seeing as how it is your history and all that.” She smiled as she tucked her hair behind her ear. Lee was quiet as she listened to the woman explain her song. “Well…it’s good, that you are careful about it.” She nodded with a smile. 

“Only about my own species. I still have so much to learn about others.” She knew only the basics about most supernaturals. Humans she knew a bit about, but that was only from her own family. “What about you? Do you have any secret talents?”
