Rihanna and MAC Cosmetics join forces, take a look at the upcoming RiRi Woo collection.
WWD: The four collections, to be known as RiRi [Hearts] MAC, will break throughout 2013, and current plans call for 31 stockkeeping units. In another first, MAC is calling Rihanna, who turns 25 years old today, a âcreative partnerâ rather than a collaborator. Her name will appear on the packaging, and her signature will be embossed on the RiRi Woo lipstick case and on the bullets of the summer lipsticks, as well as several of the fall and holiday pieces. RiRi Woo will be sold at the Rihanna concerts and online, and a summer collection will follow, which will also be sold online. A third will land in brick-and-mortar stores for fall, and there will be an on-counter holiday collection. The signature piece of the lineup, RiRi Woo, will be sold with all four collections. The summer collection also includes two additional lipsticks, a Lustre Drops shade and a powder blush duo. Fallâs 16 skuâs include four lipsticks, a deeply pigmented Lipglass version of RiRi Woo, two multishade eye shadow palettes and false lashes. (âShe likes to wear two pairs at a time,â said Jennifer Balbier, MACâs senior vice president of global product development, in an aside.) Holiday will bring another 10 items, including nail polish, a makeup bag and additional lipsticks.Â

The goth berry stained lips at Bellavance's NYFW show echoed the designer's modern aesthetic and gave us a serious craving for matte rouge.Â

NOWNESS - Bart Hess  - Lovefest : Heart to Mouth
February 14th is right around the corner and just in time for the lovey-doveyiest of holidays, director Bart Hess re-imagines the iconic red hearts in this clip that merges extreme beauty (check out those dagger fingernails) and fetish fashion. The clip is sexy, unnerving and provides an edgy take on the Valentine tradition. If you like this, check out the rest of NOWNESS' Valentine's week Lovefest - there's plenty to enjoy including outtakes of the one and only Kate Moss!
Jason Wu's color collection for Lancome one of the year's hotly anticipated launches and the beauty look of his F/W13 show gave a taste of what to expect. As Wu's collections have grown more confident and sexy, so has the makeup. The dramatic deep purple eyes courtesy of Diane Kendall, werenwonderfully high maintenance. This season has been dominated by bare faces on the runway and while minimalist makeup is very on trend, there is something so glamorous about a winged smoky eye. Cat eyes have become something of a Wu signature, but the electric indigo and violet make this look incredible. The sleek hair by Odiele Gilbert (for Kérastase) was another high-point, who knew a chignon with silver barettes could look so chic.

At last Dries van Noten's esoteric designs are translated into fragrance and by none other than Frederic Malle. For the Editions de Parfums fans out there this is an especially exciting moment as this marks the very first time Malle is collaborating with a designer. The scent, described by perfumer, Bruno Jovanovic as being "soft, sweet, creamy and milky" a deconstruction of sandalwood, using 3 different musks - is set to debut February 15th and hit the US in April.Â
Van Noten admitted being âsurprised how complicated [perfume creation] was,â needing assistance in getting started with the perfumery and getting the balance of notes right. But it came out right in the end. âIt was really like a portrait,â he said. âIt is a portrait of my vision of fashion. There are a lot of elements which are there. Thereâs a lot of tradition in it but thereâs something also surprising, which I hope I evoke the same emotions with my clothes.â He added, âFor me, it was a very interesting experience. I really liked it.â
Beauty and femininity are ageless and can't be contrived, and glamour, although the manufacturers won't like this, cannot be manufactured. Not real glamour; it's based on femininity.

HELMUT LANG F/W 13 BEAUTY
Who doesn't love a bold brow?! Backstage at Helmut Lang the team at NARS led by Hannah Murray created a look that was all about fresh skin, big brows and natural beauty. It took a variety of NARS goodies to create the look, but ultimately the focus was on letting the girls shine through.Â
To quote Hannah backstage "This look is all about creamy, polished, gorgeous skin, with the strength coming from the eyebrows. The girls with dark hair have bold brows, while the blonde girls have muted ones. It's monochromatic, but I wanted the girls to feel real and beautiful.âÂ

The final hair & makeup look here at Derek Lam's F/W 2013 show on Liu Wen. Backstage Estee Lauder makeup artist, Tom Pecheux said he wanted to go for something minimal yet bohemian to match the spirit of the clothes.Â
âThe beauty look Derek Lam and I created for the Fall 2013 show is a sophisticated, minimal urban hippie â playing off of Derekâs inspirational mood board and the textures and colors of the fabrics in his collection. The focus is on the eyes and the lips. I placed a highlight of metallic shimmer in the center of the eyelid, to make it appear very flat, like a two-dimensional painting on a canvas. The saturated stain on the lips is very strong and intense â a mix of brown, maroon and burgundy. The skin is very fresh and iridescent, a satin-matte texture,â said Tom Pecheux, EstĂ©e Lauder Creative Makeup Director, who used EstĂ©e Lauder makeup to complement Derek Lam's stunning collection.
To create the waves in models hair Orlando Pita and his team braided each girls hair and then went over it with a T3 flatiron to set the wave.Â
