can you recommend me something that smells like liturgical incense, catholic churches or dead flowers water not with halloween/autumnal vibes but more in a warm but sad and melancholic sunday walkin through the cemetery kind of way?
🌹 Amber Kiso, DS & Durga
🌹 Angelique Sous La Pluie, Frederic Malle (more rainy cemetery walk than church incense)
🌹 Bois d'Encens, Armani Privé
🌹 Avignon, Comme des Garçons

ATEEZ PERFUME REVIEW: FREDERIC MALLE — PORTRAIT OF A LADY
disclaimer: this is not meant to be a serious perfume review, this is something fun for me to do as I love perfume. each and every one of us have different tastes and preferences when it comes to fragrances. what works for me might not work for you, vice versa. I’ll try my best to describe the scents but I will always suggest for you to go and smell them yourself before purchase. if you want to try these perfumes, please test or get a sample before committing to the bottle. picture credits to all owners.
ateez member: yeosang
fragrance family: floral chypre
notes:
top — rose
heart — blackcurrant, raspberry, clove
base — patchouli, sandalwood, frankincense
my scent experience:
the fragrance opens very floral and fruity from the rose and blackcurrant and it quickly fades into this spicy floral scent. the dry down is woody and spicy from the patchouli and sandalwood and you can still smell the rose but it is quite subtle. I can also pick up the frankincense as it does add a little spice. if I were to describe this scent, I would say it smells like a spicy rose perfume that a rich lady would wear.
the projection is alright, it’s not too potent on me but I can see it as a perfume that can be too intense if you spray a lot. the longevity is quite good as it lasts about 5 hours on me. I definitely felt like a rich lady wearing this perfume around and I wonder if Yeosang feels the same while wearing it as well.
additional notes from me:
I’ve been eyeing this fragrance for years and I told myself one day that I will purchase a bottle. I do like spicy scents (not like that lmao) and I do like this scent, but there is a time and place for this fragrance and I can see myself wearing this during the colder season. I like that Yeosang is a niche fragrance enthusiast and he seems to like florals as evident from the perfumes we know he uses.
who would I recommend this to?
anyone who likes spicy floral perfumes.
those who want something unique and can splurge on a bottle of perfume.
anyone who wants to try Frederic Malle fragrances.
if you’ve made it to the end, thank you for reading this review! it’s interesting to see that this cutie I know he hates being called cute has expensive taste in fragrances (honestly me too). I hope you all enjoyed this review and let me know what your favorite fragrances are!
