The Problem 

Studies have revealed that two-wheelers are more prone to accidents than other vehicles on the road. A smart helmet that can sense the on-road dangers & automatically make calls to riders’ emergency contacts will help in reducing the number of accidents. Anticipating this need that was further backed by a market survey of road accidents conducted in 5 different cities – KritiKal along with its co-investment partner Napino Auto & Electronics Ltd. started working towards building a Smart Helmet System based on Bluetooth technology. The system would incorporate mike & speakers and two powerful modules- Helmet Module and Handle Module.

Optical Character Recognition | Container OCR

Container Number OCR system automatically identifies records and verifies the Container ID number for both fixed and moving scenarios. The system is designed for efficient container loading and unloading ensuring accurate container movement. The system facilitates effective management and operations at gate, yard, and loading & unloading zones for modern ports and terminals.

The Container Number OCR system is based on KritiKal’s proprietary OCR Engine Platform. The underlying OCR engine is modified to suit the requirements of Container Number OCR system for translating images of printed text (here container ids captured using camera) into machine-readable form with a standard encoding scheme with up to 100% accuracy in recommended conditions.

The Container Number OCR system can be easily integrated with KritiKal’s proprietary Automatic License Plate Reading System (KLiPR) for integrated solutions for a port/ container terminal. KritiKal Solutions, a technology design hub, is working on OnBoard- a Bus Identification and Homing System for visually impaired people in partnership with IIT Delhi. The research work on this project emanated from IIT Delhi, post which KritiKal teamed up with the technology institute to develop the OnBoard System. OnBoard will make public transport more accessible and affordable for visually impaired individuals. This system is unique in the sense that it aids the user in identifying the bus-route number and then enables them to board the correct bus by taking the help of the auditory cues from the entrance of the bus.
