In one of the cases, it was shown that the employee did not have the training to work around a penis and scrotum. That’s one thing, and is about safety.

Other cases though? The trans woman got told “we don’t serve men”, “we don’t work on MALE genitals”, “we gotta respect the RELIGIOUS FREEDOMS of our employees” (in that case, it was a muslim employee who said she wasn’t allowed to interact with men outside of her family - thus denying that her potential client was a woman), and also that the salon owners want to “protect the dignity of their employees” (as if doing aesthetic work on a trans woman is somehow gross and an attack on their dignity). Those cases? Transphobia, pure and simple.

Fuck that noise. Whether the trans woman is a gross person is one thing, and she should answer for whatever accusation of harassment people pin on her if there’s indeed anything there. But in most cases the salon employees and owners absolutely discriminated against her on the basis of gender identity and their own view of “penis = man”.

Oh my god, this is ridiculous. First of all, large segments of the population of the world are not aware of transgender issues, and the idea that a penis and testicles are male genitalia is held by probably a solid 99+% of the world. Even among people who are aware that trans women exist and are women, a majority would still probably consider a penis and testicles to be biologically male genitals. I know that terminology is considered outdated by some, but for most people it remains the common understanding.

Regardless of that, if you remove the issue of different understandings of biological sex and associated language, what it comes down to is that these women do not wax penises. They may have said “man” and “male,” but they undoubtedly were talking about what they consider ‘male genitalia’ or ‘men’s genitalia,’ which is a penis and testicles. And they are completely within their rights to not interact with penises in their work! The issue you’re coming up with here is that they used the wrong language in answering this person’s request, which, okay, sure – if you reach out to 20+ salons and waxing businesses staffed by working-class, mostly immigrant women, many of whom don’t speak English as their first language, you’re going to find quite a few who don’t realize that it’s politically incorrect to say “man” or “male” when you mean “penis” – especially because saying “we don’t wax penises” isn’t exactly the most comfortable or professional thing to say to someone. It’s such a reach to act like these women were intentionally making an anti-trans statement by linking “man”/“male” to the idea of waxing a penis and testicles when they almost certainly are not party to the up-to-date language on sex and gender.

Also I’d be willing to bet that since these women literally do not wax penis/testicles (which, again, is what they meant by “man” or “male”), probably none of them are trained to do it. So.

Welllllllllllllll periods suck(trust me, I was emotionally close with a woman, in fact close enough to feel her goddamn periods. Fuck I fucking hated it, men, don’t get that attached. Be supportive, feed her ice cream and whatever else she asks for, but don’t get attached enough to feel them. It’s not worth it.

Anyway, I hate to be callous but that’s just your body telling you to hurry up and get pregnant. Of course birth control also makes them not as bad, depending on what kind. Of course you find out that there’s more kinds of birth control than there are types of oil, which is a pain. There are more period blood containment things(yes, tht includes tampons, pads, cups, etc.) than there are types of oil according to my dad who actually knows his shit about the oil,saying there’s like 4 types.(Yes, talking about motor oil here)

So ladies, find what’s right for you. Ask a doctor. Test some different period things out. It’s for your own good
