Closing an amazing book after a tragic ending can leave you with questions. And those questions may never be answered. That happens. You can sit there and look at that book, and you will never get those answers. No matter how long you try.

You have to put that book away and go to the next. You can try to read the book again, but it won't get you any more answers.

You must move to the next. Sometimes, the next book will reveal answers, sometimes not.

The important thing is the new book will take you on another amazing journey. One of growth and discovery. To amazing heights. And places you have never dreamed existed.

But you must first, put the old one away. You keep it safe, for the memories, but you move to the next book enthusiastically, happily. And you keep that old one and its adventures in your heart.

A lot of us have that drunk uncle, Aunt Uncle cousin you know what I mean. They're part of almost every family. And they are bound to do something embarrassing if not downright stupid or harmful. And everybody just braces for it.

I love my country. I've always loved my country. But right now I feel like I'm just waiting for my drunk uncle to do something stupid. Every day every moment because that's what this is like.

Being lesbian and presenting as entirely non-conforming to any gender Norm is difficult in this country right now. I'm not even taking into account the PTSD. When I can't walk into a bathroom without getting dirty looks or feeling scared there's something fucking wrong. When people are going hungry when kids are going hungry and going out without medical care. When hospitals are closing down left and right and you have to drive hours for Basic care. There's something wrong. Not to mention what's going on with all the overseas policy I can't even get into that.

And all I can do is wonder what that fucking drunk uncle is going to do next.

This is supposed to be a day celebration. I'm crying because the path we are going on is a very dangerous slope. And I don't think either extreme is correct. But damn it there's a fucking middle... and if we can't figure that out we're doomed. When basic human rights are up for debate there's something fucking wrong. That's not political ideology that's basic human rights when people are going hungry that's basic fucking human rights. When you have to drive over an hour  to have a fucking baby that's fucked up that's beyond fucked up.

So before all the celebrations are over take a moment to consider that. If you don't have those conditions in your life be grateful be very grateful. Because this country should not have these problems. And it does because of greed and selfishness and lack of empathy. When profit matters more than children your country's fucked and that's where we are.
