Brittany, ka’myra, and I spent the whole day together cooking and having a good time. We started our day with going to IGA to get a good breakfast to fuel us for what’s coming in the day. We went and got cinnamon rolls and cooked them at Brittany’s house. Then we started cooking our Gelato which was not as easy as it looks. Making gelato for 18 people is definitely a trip. We had to triple the recipe for the class. Which meant it had a lot of milk, sugar, and eggs. This meant bigger boiling pots too for the milk to boil. When it came time to put the liquid in the ice cream maker. We forgot the most important part, putting in the pot in the freezer for 24 hours to let the water in the pot freeze. Well when the liquid ice cream just kept spinning and not freezing we got very worried and scared, because this was part of our grade. We had to go down to the basement and get the old type of ice cream maker. We realized we have to have a bag of ice and ice cream salt to freeze our gelato. Brittany’s dad came to the rescue and helped us figure everything out. the class came together for our final time. We had a dessert party that consisted of several different country. Many representing Italy, China, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, South America. We had a very good time discussing what our favorite parts of the class was. We also discussed what our favorite restaurants were during the class and our favorite cuisine. This class was truly amazing getting to learn so much about how people live and eat. Matrimony is a dessert from Jamaica, It is a fruit salad that is very delicious and healthy. They call it matrimony, because it marry different fruits together. Matrimony uses three different fruits oranges, grapefruit, and star fruit. They added nutmeg and sweetened condensed milk this this. Next we had brittany and I’s gelato which was very good. King solomon often enjoyed a similar thing to gelato, but it wasn't till the 16th century until a man from italy came up with the idea for it. Next we had banana foster that's from south America. Banana foster has apples, rum, brown sugar, heavy cream, and of course bananas. The dessert was a very good treat. Next we had tres leches cake which was very good the condensed milk is what made it so good. The cake is a very popular cake now and is served several places now. Lastly we had sago soup or tong sui which is a japanese or chinese dessert. The dessert was kinda like a soup, but of sugar water. It also had sweet potatoes in it, because if you used the other kind and didn't cook it right it could kill you. I was not to fond of this dessert, it was just not what i'm used to for a dessert. In conclusion, this was a very fun class to take with two fun professors. The adventures were really exciting, and the trip to new orleans and st louis were definitely fun. Getting to try new thing i've never had before was fun too. I would have probably never eaten half of this stuff if didn't take this class. The desserts were definitely delicious and have amazing cooks in the class. http://www.gorgeousgelato.com/our-story/history-of-gelato/
