"Wanderlust Chronicles: Life as a Professional Figure Skater and Lifestyle Journalist on Cruise Ships"
How does a childhood dream evolve into a reality? As a figure skater performing on cruise ships and a fashion and lifestyle journalist, my life is a blend of art, fashion, travel, and sport. This journey is what fuels my "Wanderlust Chronicle: Exploring the Anthropology of Life, Fashion, Travel, Art, and Beyond." Through my unconventional career path and passion for travel and creativity, I’ll share five fascinating insights and places that have shaped my experiences, explore how it continues to evolve, and why staying curious, meeting people from all over the world and pursuing passions are key to unlocking new opportunities and experiences in life.
"Always believe in your dreams, and work for it."
As a child, I believed in the magic of dreams, knowing that they held the key to a future full of possibilities. However, I’ve learned that the beauty of dreams lies not in how quickly you achieve them but in the perseverance it takes to keep moving forward, regardless of the obstacles. Life is a mosaic of moments, or staircases to climb, each a delicate piece of a grander puzzle. It’s the small, seemingly insignificant details—our quirks and personal stories—that, when woven together, bring us closer to each goal we set and reveal the true richness of our experiences, shaping who we are and where we end up.
Indeed, I never truly believed in the saying, 'Everything happens for a reason,' until I grew older and realized its truth. Over time, I came to understand that events unfold to guide us exactly where we're meant to be in the present. When life knocks you down, it's teaching you to rise even stronger, and when you're on the rise, it's a sign you're on the right path. But more than anything, it's the people around us, the ones we love and who love and support us in return, that make everything possible and enrich our journey through life. Surround yourself with those who believe in the freedom that anything is possible when you follow your passion, rather than those who limit your dreams with negativity. This is how a French girl from a small industrial town ended up being a professional figure skater performing in the USA and, as a cherry on top, realizing her biggest dream of being a performer on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship and a fashion/lifestyle journalist in France. Balancing Art, Sport, and Creativity
My career path has been anything but traditional. It’s fueled by a profound blend of passion, dedication, hard work, and an endless thirst for discovery and adventure. Some might say success is about timing, but I’ve come to believe that age should never limit what you can achieve. Over the past decade, my career has taken me through 29 countries, each destination enriching my life and opening my mind to new cultures, societies, histories, and expressions of personal style. When I’m in France, I work as a fashion journalist, attending events like Paris Fashion Week. Balancing the roles of professional figure skater and lifestyle journalist has been an exhilarating challenge, a dynamic mix of creativity and organization, all infused with a French savoir-faire that I consider elegantly orchestrated !
And why not embracing both aspects simultaneously? I’ve realized that living my 'life goal', doing what I love most aboard a ship while exploring the world, offers boundless opportunities to discover new destinations and share these experiences through my writing. . It’s the fusion of performance and wanderlust that defines my journalistic approach in Wanderlust Chronicles: Life, Fashion, Travel, Art, and Beyond.
Reaching New Heights: From a small industrial town in France to the World Stage
Growing up in Saint-Nazaire, a city famous for its shipyards, I often admired the grand ocean liners, including Royal Caribbean's ships, knowing that some had ice rinks at sea. My journey into skating began for a very practical reason—I was an asthmatic child and often sick, so skating was initially a way to build strength and improve my health. What started as a health necessity soon became a passion, and over time, the idea of skating on a ship became a dream I quietly nurtured. Balancing school and competitive skating from middle school through university and my master’s degree taught me the value of perseverance and time management. As my career developed over the past decade, I had the privilege of touring with companies across five continents, which deepened my appreciation for the blend of art and athleticism that skating offers.
Aerial Skating and Reinvention
The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic brought my skating career to a halt, like it did for many performers. But rather than seeing it as a setback, I used the time as an opportunity for growth. I began training as an aerial skater, a completely new discipline, under the guidance of two circus coaches. The experience pushed me both physically and mentally, combining skating with the thrill, and the dangerousness of aerial acrobatics.
This period of intensive training was transformative. I discovered a passion that pushed me to new heights—both literally and figuratively. Eventually, I had the chance to perform as an aerialist on ice in Germany, combining two of my greatest loves. The experience pushed me to grow as an artist and athlete in ways I hadn’t anticipated. After my time in Germany, I was offered the incredible opportunity to join Royal Caribbean as a pair skater, further propelling my career.
Coming Full Circle: Life Aboard Royal Caribbean
Joining Royal Caribbean was the culmination of years of hard work, reinvention, and persistence. Skating on their innovative ice rinks fulfilled a childhood dream, but more than that, it symbolized the power of persistence, daily improvement, and the ability to adapt to change. Reflecting on my journey, from the shipyards of Saint-Nazaire to performing aboard cruise ships ,feels like life has come full circle.
The ship has become more than just a workplace; it’s where dreams come alive every day. It’s here that I’ve finally embraced both my passions, journalism and skating, as two complementary parts of who I am.
