Slavic Tavern

This is an older one from 2024, first real painting I did on procreate. Weird to see how much my style has changed, looking back. But yeah these are the main characters from the comic I’ve been working on. They’re twins :P

Too many tentacles (John Sibbick, Dungeoneer, core rules for the Advanced Fighting Fantasy RPG, Puffin Books, 1989) — Tolkien’s Watcher in the Water inspired many similar encounters across other fantasy worlds.

The tavern room of the Waterside Hostel in Nulb has good prices but it draws a rough crowd, some of whom remain loyal to the priests of the nearby evil temple. The hostler, a burly man with an eyepatch, says his name is Dick Rentsch. (AD&D module T1-4: The Temple of Elemental Evil, TSR, 1985. I think this one is by Larry Elmore, but it's unsigned like most of Elmore and Easley's contributions to this adventure.)

More 'spring' cleaning and I can't believe I finally found this, over 40 years after it went missing -- my original copy of RuneQuest 2nd ed from 1980, the stand-alone softcover version with Luise Perrin/Perenne's cover art in color, by Steve Perrin & Ray Turney for Chaosium.

At some point ca 1984-85 I thought it was a good idea to tuck it into the back of an unlabeled folder behind some blank graph paper and an encounter I wrote pitting Sartar characters against Lunar Empire agents, across from some notes on heraldry and late 16th century fashion. There is a hint of flood damage here, minor discoloration of 2 corners of the back cover and almost unnoticeable paper wrinkling, but still looks pretty good for a used copy approaching 50 years old.
