Ironically, when I first saw the Master's fit my immediate thought was 'now why do you seem familiar?'

There's art I wanna do of Roberts!Master and Wesker at some point, but I was talking to a friend about it and he said

'What if they ended up besties?'

And then all I could think about was the Eighth Doctor having to deal with Chris Redfield. Usually, it's the companions getting confused by them but I genuinely think Chris' blase attitude and complete willingness to dive head first into any given situation would have Eight pausing for a moment. The guy who runs on Hope like its their life force...

Then it hit me. Chris Redfield would be like a competent Fitz Kreiner on steroids. I'm not sure who I feel more sorry for out of this collection of characters tbh.

It is so hot in London rn I was NOT doing Eighth Doctor again, one day was enough. Literally dyed my hair in the hotel and it once again came out kinda ginger - my hair longs to be red ig - but it's lighter than it was so idgaf 😎

I am still alive and I haven't forgotten about these! I've just been studying to be ready in time for an exam at the end of June and getting ready for Con this weekend!

In a timeline where Eight wasn't such a wuss about their feelings and just cuddled with Fitz to use his heartbeat to simulate their missing one

In the mad scramble of returning memories after their regeneration, the Eighth Doctor remembers some things they perhaps shouldn't have been able to. Namely, the deal they made with Death.

More Mantle AU stuff

have you ever written/fantasized about Roberts taking Eight's regeneration's...and Eight letting him?

Oooh, I have not written about this actually! The Doctor is far too proud, I think, to let the Master win in this way, especially permanently.

However, I have thought of scenarios in my Mantle AU where the Master is still basically jaegering his new Time Lord body as the Deathworm Morphant (as this was technically the form where the deal with Death became fully realised, whoops).

SO, if the body ever becomes compromised (read: utterly fucked) the Master could slither out and escape, but an exposed goo snake does not last very long and needs a new host to jump into if it doesn't want to become basically comatose... and Eight would be right there. They can't let him die again, not like this...

So it's more a case of Eight letting the Master borrow their body as a life raft until they can repair (?) his proper body. It takes a whole lot of time and repeated instances of the Doctor's trust not being thrown back in their face to get to that level though. Because by that point, the Master prefers being in their own body and being able to interact with the Doctor in their own body. Separately.
