"I need a drink and a hug. But mostly the drink," Sarge said, his face stormy before he forced a stiff smile. "But, you... you first. I can get shit-faced when we get back." He felt gross and slimy and exposed, but he could handle it. He would never have to see these people again. He could handle it.
Rasturn looked like he'd just been dragged out of a trench full of bad times. He would make sure his teammate was squared away before he worried about himself. That's what a commanding officer did. His men came first. As long as one of his needed to be taken care of, Sarge could look after himself later. "...Breakfast, your package, then back to get you in your civvies. We complete the mission, then we go home." Not quite victorious, but alive and with the objective completed.
He pulled up in front of the diner, but he sat behind the wheel a moment, collecting himself. "Let's get that pie..." he finally declared, getting out, his face stony with determination.
