Ibn Al Qayyim رحمه الله said:
"Too much socialising, wishing for things, attachment to others besides Allah, filling one's stomach, and sleep: These five affairs are amongst the greatest corrupters of the heart"
[Uddat as-Sabirin, p.197]
The flaw of arrogance is immense. It becomes a veil barring one from Paradise because it prevents the servant from attaining the character traits of believers. The arrogant cannot love for believers what they love for themselves,

Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen رحمه الله said:
“It is only a moment then these difficulties come to an end; be patient with them. Be patient restraining your soul from its desires; be patient upon the obligations Allah has commanded you with. Be patient with the calamities that befall which are either from yourself or (calamities) from Allaah the Exalted, or from the people. Be patient until you reach the abode of relaxation.”
