because you stole that word from french lol
Queue: consonnant sound
Queue: you canāt follow a q with a e, you need a u in between. in french u gotta
Queue: the eu sound is actually not like how you say q at all, itās a french e sound but itās longer (also distinguishes from the word que)
Queue: itās a feminine word so it gets a e at the end
u say that like its somehow better and not just a crushing indictment of french
French spelling is far more consistent than English so like English speakers canāt really talk
who tf cares how consistent things are spelled when you donāt pronounce half the word??
Not to be rude⦠but are we pretending English doesnāt do the same shit? At least in French itās almost always the end of the word and the same letters that are silent. English on the other hand? Try pronouncing every letter in even simple words like āhalf,ā āare,ā or āyou.ā Pure clownery.
As if thatās not enough, English doesnāt even have consistent vowels lmfao. I can rhyme ābowā with ātoeā AND ācowā - two separate words with completely different vowel sounds but the same exact spelling! English is a joke
oh by all means english is a bastard language and it steals bits and pieces from every language so the rules are completely not intuitive. but letās be real the French are to blame for like 50% of its clownery, like 37% from the Anglo-Saxons and the rest on colonialism
not only is English a joke, but also my criticism of French spelling so like chill out lmao
I disagree. 100% of the clownery in English comes from English. Words and structures may have been borrowed from or imposed by the French or other influences. But they have come to last through the efforts of English speakers using and/or modifying them (into even weirder forms) consistently over centuries.
What Iām saying is English, even its purest most āuntouchedā rules, words, and expectations, only seems ānormalā or ānaturalā from an English speakerās perspective.
Iām not asking you to like spelling in French. But French isnāt English. Why is it being judged on English rules and expectations of spelling and letter functions? Which themselves make no attempt at consistency?
You can blow your own comment off as a joke. Regardless, the point still stands that languages that arenāt English donāt deserve to be mocked for not following English expectations.
how profound: a language only seems normal to its native speakers, and French isnāt English šš
this whole post is one language mocking the other based on its own standards so get off your high horse. everyĀ language deserves to be mocked, including English. but most of all French. 99 (four twenty nineteen)?? potatoes (apples of the earth)?? seafood (fruit of the sea)?? birds (oiseaux pronounced wazo)?? where do i beginĀ
You reiterated my points... and then went on to completely miss them.
I donāt know how else to tell you that other languages are allowed to communicate values or name objects differently than English would. I donāt know how else to explain that other languages are allowed to have different sounds than English and use the same alphabet differently than English.
None of that makes a language any worse than English. None of that means English speakers deserve free reign to shame another language or its speakers for its supposed āflawsā (read: stark differences from English).
