PSA:
Acetaminophen/paracetamol has a hard stop upper dose limit, above which it becomes extremely toxic.
That limit is 4g (8 “extra strength” (500mg) tablets) in 24 hours (about 2 tablets every 6 hours).
A single dose of 22 extra strength tablets can kill you.
Taking 12 or more tablets per day for more than a week can also kill you (this is about 3 tablets every 6 hours).
Symptoms of overdose take up to 24 hours to manifest, and are fairly difficult to distinguish from other problems. They include abdominal pain (especially right upper quadrant), nausea, malaise, and confusion.
The antidote (n-acetylcystine) must be given within 8hours of ingestion in order to be useful.
After 10 hours the only thing that will work is a liver transplant.
You might think “why would I ever accidentally take so much?”
Well, acetaminophen is in almost everything in the cold/flu/pain aisle. Migraine combos like Excedrin, cold and flu combos like NyQuil, basically anything that says “non-aspirin pain relief”, and anything that’s branded as a fever reducer. It’s all probably acetaminophen/paracetamol.
So the goal of this post is to get you to read the labels on your medications. Because taking taking Tylenol and NyQuil together for a week (like you might if you had the flu) could kill you.
Please don't forget this shit, after it happened to a family member, he died 8 years later because of the continuing health complications even though he survived the initial overdose
I didn't know this for years, and I took so many pills, sometimes 4 at one go, every four hours, like 16 a day, because of endometriosis and migraines. It took a migraine specialist to explain rebound headaches and overdoses when I was in my 40s. Then I went cold turkey on all OTC drugs to get off the cycle. Please, please, if a couple tylenol aren't working for you, talk to your doctor or find one who will listen to you if you can.
this has almost certainly already been said in the notes, but it's always worth repeating: cycle your OTC pain meds
different drugs are metabolized in different organs, and alternating which ones you take can help reduce stress on the liver and kidneys. there's also OTC pain meds that you should not mix with each other at the same time - aspirin and ibuprofen are both NSAIDs, for example, and should not be combined. always check if your meds are compatible before taking them together.
also, all pain meds don't treat all pains. acetaminophen is borderline useless for menstrual cramps, but great if you're achy from the flu. check which drugs are best for the pain you've got, so you don't waste time taking meds that won't treat what's hurting you

i understand the appeal of vampires cradling you in a parody of a lover's embrace while they feed on you i absolutely get it. however ☝️ i will always insist that the person being fed on embracing, holding in place, or even pulling the vampire back in for more when they try to stop themselves is infinitely more erotic. especially if there's a hint of visible revulsion in it; an instinctual repulsion that nearly overrules any desire. even more so if either party is tormented by soul-crushing guilt and disgust with themselves in the aftermath.
yes i can appreciate the conceptual appeal of a beautiful humanoid apex predator literally pursuing you like water in the desert but i think that everyone should be more conflicted and not having a great time about it
You're a villain who just won your first fight against the (very polished) group of heroes that defends your city. You're talking 1 v 6, total smack down. You're so worried about them, you send them a Get Well Soon card and some flowers
In hindsight you should've known what that would look like
“You sick, sadistic fuck!” the team’s leader seethes at you over the video call. “What the hell is the meaning of this?” You immediately recognize the card they hold up, adorned with balloons and the message “Get Well Soon” in large, round letters.
“I wasn’t aware it was wrong to send my sympathies to a group of teenagers in the hospital,” you reply curtly.
“It is when you put them there!” the leader snarls. “Thanks for letting me kick your asses, girls, hope I can do it again next week?”
Oh. Right. Fuck. “While I may not have considered the implications,” you concede, “I did mean it sincerely.” You honestly hadn’t expected to be able to take out the whole team. “Would an apology card have been better?”
The leader rips the card to shreds. “I thought you had a code! I thought you had standards! I wasn’t expecting you to go all-out against a group of children!”
“I didn’t know!” you shout back. Now it’s the leader’s turn to look vaguely ashamed. “Wait…is that why they’ve been so successful so far? Are you…asking all of the villains to pull their punches, and they lost to me because you forgot to send me the fucking memo?”
A girl darts into frame behind the leader. Her arm is in a sling but the bruises on her face have mostly healed. “Is that what’s been happening?” she asks.
“Of course not!” the leader says with a laugh that sounds forced. “After all, I’ve been training you for years, and—“
“Why are there flowers in the garbage?” the girl interrupts.
“They’re from me!” you answer. The girl turns to watch you on the video monitor. “I…wanted to apologize for how our fight went.” She gapes at you. “I thought you’d be tougher, especially since you’d beaten the others…”
She squares her shoulders. “Thank you for not holding back. The next time we meet, we’ll be ready for you.”
“Looking forward to it,” you tell her sincerely. “Incidentally, how much do you know about the team that came before you?”
“Before us?” she repeats. “We’re the first hero team in a hundred years!”
“Is that what you’ve been told?” you ask, eyebrows raising. “Listen, if you and your teammates ever want training from someone who’s going to be honest with you—“
“Enough!” The leader shuts off the call.
This is amazing!!! The idea of the hero mentor orchestrating/managing fights has such chilling implications. Besides the villains not wanting to beat on teenagers, were there other reasons they cooperated? Why/how does the mentor have a memo system? I'm so intrigued!

[Image ID: A screenshot of a Facebook post from Weisenback Farm. The post is a photo of two 5 gallon jugs of distilled white vinegar; one is 4% acidity, one is 5% acidity. The caption reads: Just a little warning for all those who are canning pickles or anything using vinegar. This year you cannot just grab a plastic jar of vinegar or even pickling vinegar without checking the label. Safe pickling requires 5% acidity... for the first time we are seeing 4% acidity vinegar... on the shelves. That renders anything pickled in the 4% NOT shelf stable. I belong to several canning FB pages where everyone is warning... for the first time ever... to check those labels or you could be throwing out many jars of unsafe pickled vegetables. End ID]
The National Center for Home Food Preservation issued this letter on July 14, 2023 warning people
They recommend that anything you have canned in the past 24 hours using 4% vinegar be stored in the fridge, and anything that was canned more than 24 hours ago using 4% vinegar be discarded.
Not to go "if you have ADHD just go for a run" or anything, but I am so serious if you have ADHD you should regularly go outside, no headphones no phone no nothing and just stand and observe for a while until you've had enough. Not until you get bored, until you've had enough. Drink your coffee without watching tiktok. Have a bath without music. Turn down the volume in your headphones. I cannot overstate how much learning to be bored is cruicial with ADHD. Life is not just about pleasure, no matter what your dysregulated dopamine system thinks, and when you teach your brain to be okay with being bored, then boring tasks stop feeling like torture. By letting yourself be bored you are yoinking your system out of the high/low binary and allow for the highs to feel like actual highs and not just anything that isn't low. I am so serious go literally touch grass. Listen to the sounds in your flat. Stimulate your body the way it was designed. It lowers anxiety and makes you feel like you're real and best of all it's completely free
I really wish more ADHD mental health care told you WHY things like this matter to our quality of life.
The Hyperactivity in Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is NOT about being physically hyperactive, it's about having a "hyperactive central nervous system" because it's a form of inheritable dysautonomia. The problem with disautonomia, especially the ADHD kind, is that it makes boredom flag to your nervous system as a THREAT, triggering hyperactive and maladaptive central nervous system processes like fight or flight.
But dysautonomia kills you that way. Literally, part of the reason our average life spand increase on stimulents is that it helps manage risk-taking impulsivity that can get us killed by accident, but the other part is that stimulents can regulate a hyperactive CNS such that it is functionally (while impacted by the stimulent) NOT dysregulated anymore. And PHYSIOLOGICALLY that is essential because the physical outcomes of dysautonomia can reduce your life span by YEARS if not decades through self-perpetuating hypervigelence, endocrine disruption, and adrenal fatigue.
So when the ADHD brain goes stimulation-seeking and a doctor tells you to practice mindfulness, it feels like being told "hey go stand in a functioning boiler until you can stop thinking" rather than WHAT IT IS which is the process of re-teaching your body what is and isn't safe.
Standing outside making mindful, non-interpretive/moralized observation of the world helps your brain and body re-acclimate to the idea that absence of that frantic "busy" feeling isn't a threat or a risk to your safety, and gradually reduces the level of distress that just hanging out somewhere triggers for you.
Learning WHY this stuff was being suggested and understanding what it was actually supposed to do went a long way towards changing my relationship with my ADHD. I am FAR more functional now, far less prone to shame spirals and rejection sensitivity, hell, I can **sit physically still for near on an hour at a time** now without feeling like I'm going to crawl out of my skin.
So yeah. Go outside. Let the world narrow around you and take deep breaths until it stops feeling claustrophobic or like you need to climb walls. Learn how to let little sensations become big ones like the way the heat of the sun on your skin starts as a gentle warming and be omes a unique collection of sensory moments depending on how it lands on you. Listen for sounds under sounds and let them fade in and out as you move your focus from one sound to the next. Enjoy. Move on. Rinse and repeat.
When you no longer feel like the world is actively killing you, it's a lot easier to navigate it.

I'm gonna be honest as fuck. black and brown people end up as victims of systemic violence within the US on a wider scale that is deplorable forever since this country's conception, especially with black Americans. and I will be honest, white liberals and leftists will see this violence, get rightfully upset, but move on. but when another white person is wrongfully murdered and tried by the system those same people will focus more outrage towards that. "they will target all of us now" is a statement made out of privilege if you don't consider the lives of black and brown people as equal.
anything to wake up people but it's just sad that my so called "allies" are realizing how dire this violence is when it only begins to affect **THEIR** lives.
the average experience of a black American is facing racial trauma since Early childhood then and there. you will learn that people who supposedly have your back don't actually fucking care unless they are thrown to the wolves as well, despite you being thrown to the pack as early as being in your parents womb.
