Yumiko never told Emori her fears. She felt as if it was too soon. She didn’t want him to see the way she gets when she’s left alone-- the loneliness, the abnormal and destructive fear of being abandoned again. At times, it was manageable. At times, Yumiko was able to pull herself out of that dark bubble and continue to be the smiling flower she was.
But tonight wasn’t that time.
She paced aimlessly around her room while her breathing became less normal and reached the point of hyperventilation. She couldn’t handle being all alone in her room, all dressed up as if she was going somewhere. She wanted to go somewhere, but she knew Emori had important business to deal with. She knew he couldn’t miss it. Deep down, she always hated how much pain it caused her to be alone. But it grew even worse when she and Emori started seeing each other.
Before she could finally let out a scream, the door to her room opened suddenly to unveil the man she had so desperately wanted to see. He looked shocked when he noticed her on the floor, all dressed up. Did he miss something? Did they plan something for today? No.. she knew he would be busy, even if he couldn’t tell her what was really going on. She always understood, no matter what he said as an excuse.
Without a second to lose, Yumiko jumped up from the floor and pressed her face into Emori’s chest, letting out all of the cries and sadness she had kept hidden. All Emori could do was hold her, not saying a word as he watched his flower slowly wither.
