The lack of entry level jobs means that recent graduates are not hired because they are expected to know in advance how to behave in the workplace rather than being trained when they begin working.

Actually as many as 1-in-3 job listings are fake, because this allows companies to claim they are "actively recruiting and growing" even when they aren't, which looks good to investors and can lead to government benefits as well.

In the US, hiring several part time jobs allows companies to save about 30% on benefits compared to hiring one full time job. This is directly because of the US's predatory healthcare system and lack of the worker protections common in other imperialist core economies.

The US minimum wage has been static for my entire adult life, in part because efforts to pin the minimum wage to cost of living metrics are constantly stonewalled by wealthy political groups.

Masters degrees are being devalued as a consequence of the prior devaluation of Bachelors, that itself caused by the destruction and devaluation of compulsory public schooling in the US. This combines with the absence of entry level positions in deeply fraught ways.

I am unable to corroborate the claim that US job searches average greater than a year. However they do average well over 7 months, and the US's notoriously spiteful and underpaying unemployment system cuts off support much sooner than that. If you can even get unemployment support in the first place.

And finally, yes, 75% of completed and successful applications will be automatically rejected by machines without human oversight. That's for complete applications on the company's own site with resumes attached. Just plain resumes, and applications completed on third party sites like Indeed, have much worse numbers than even that.

There's a very predictable cycle for new healthcare systems. First, you get people who are passionate about healthcare. Let them become trusted in the community. Then you send in a shark. This will be a new CEO or maybe the new Financial officer. Their job is to milk that goodwill while making everything shit. "We provide healthcare, and you can absolutely put a price on health" is their guiding principle. You'll piss off your providers, disgruntle your nursing staff, everything just goes downhill faster than you'd ever imagine. The good people will leave, then the people who care, until you're left with just a bunch of time clock punching healthcare workers who aren't *really* helping anyone. They just order tests and then prescribe whatever the insurance company will cover. But you're not getting 'care', you're now a product. "How many different billing codes can we attach to this patient, and how much can we get from their insurance company/medicare/ their pockets" And now you've poisoned a community. But the shareholders are happy, so who gives a shit?

i go to the shop and I ask if they have any raspberries. they say no, they used to sell raspberries, but they haven't had any in stock in the last 15 years. I ask if there's somewhere else I can go to buy raspberries. They say no, with confidence and pride, they're the only shop around who has ever sold or will ever sell raspberries. Other shops might sell other fruit, sure, but they have a monopoly on all raspberries forever. I ask if they're possibly planning on them selling them again in future? they say they can't tell me that.

on the way home, I encounter someone eating raspberries. I ask and they tell me that they grow their own, they got some seeds from the shop back in The Raspberry Days and kept them. They take me to a field of many beautiful raspberry plants and invite me to pick my own, they're free for all the town to pick whenever they'd like.
