February 2023: My moment.

As you probably already figured out, we have an incredible winter event in Banff every February. And it always brings something special. . The last 2023 event allowed me to give back a little bit of my experience through the years working in this amazing industry. I had the opportunity to thank my mentors, the people who belong to my direct agency and most importantly, my family, my wife. . I can say for sure, this was the moment! The last 12 months.

January 2023: Family is complete.

Like every year, these last 12 days I want to share with you the highlights of my year. And the picture summaries it.

The month of January was full of feelings! We celebrated what we called "the last wedding". My little sister got married to the man of her dreams. Happiness was filling the room. We could sense their love, and that's why when you get invited to a wedding if you are a married person, you cannot miss this kind of event. Weddings are events that help your marriage to remember those promises the couple made.

That great feeling seeing my sister dress in white, holding hands and giving herself into a sacred relationship now between her husband and God.

If my dad were there, I could say that was a perfect family member.

Today is my 35th birth day!

A short remembrance of my past birthdays

Today is my first day as a 35-year-old, and I cannot stop thinking about my other birthdays. For the last 17 years, I always try to do something special, or something that can help me to remember easily the way I celebrate.

In the beginning, was only my responsibility to do it, but since I met my wife, now she takes care of my birthday too.

On my 15th birthday, I was in Tamaulipas, Mexico, in my hometown celebrating with my secondary schoolmates, neighbors and soccer mates; my father was there and he provide us with a couple of beers. Instead of drinking them, my friends splash them on me for celebration! I was about to start High School that year.

On my 25th birthday, now I was living in Monterrey, Mexico. I became an Engineer by finishing my Bachelor's back then. I had 3 years of relationship with my girlfriend (my wife) and she prepared everything for me: a minions theme party!

She gathered University Friends, people from my church, from my music band, from every group that I was part of and gathered at her house! And she cooked for us! It was an amazing moment that I remember until this day.

Now, at 35 years old, working and enjoying my life, I can say that probably less than half of those people are not close to me anymore. Probably because of the distance, probably because we lost communication or they were not much relevant in my life or vice-versa. But I got the people close to me the ones who it was meant to be close to me: my wife, my mom, my 2 sisters and their kids, and my 2 brothers-in-law. My office colleagues and my soccer friends.

This year the theme was Buc-ee's!

I have been feeling so blessed for everything I have, everything I got in the past; and I am much more excited for the things that are coming to me!

Yes, I left my 20s a long time ago, but in my mind, my age does not define me. I have many things in my mind that I want to accomplish, many things to try on, taste and see!

This is just the beginning! And I have God by my side.

Thanks so much to my Lord, Jesus. And let's live another 35 years!

Surround yourself with the best people!

Many self-development and leadership books say "we are the average 5 people we spend time with". For the same exact reason, we need to be careful about how our time regarding our relationships.

This idea doesn't mean that you need to cut all your friendships, but we need to be more focused and aware of whom we want to spend more time with: you want to spend time with that person who knows how to manage a big company or with that person who knows all the NHL team and watch all games on weekends?

If your goal is to become a great leader and manager, knowing the NHL teams and stats, also watching all games will not help you at all in becoming that CEO or entrepreneur.

Becoming the best version of yourself implies a lot of work! That's why your environment needs to help you to make it a little easier.

Keep your friendship; those old friends from school, neighbourhood, etc, but follow those who can take you to the next level!

We saw many Harry-lovers 🪄 🧙🏼‍♂️ with funny customs. We drank Butter beer 🍺 and we had really good time!

Hopefully we could do this again in a normal terms 🥲

The Journey - Senior Broker

Today it was an amazing day! 

Since I started my entrepreneur journey, on April 2018 we have been fighting for our dreams. 

Every small step, success, was giving me hope to continue and fight for the next one. 

I signed my AMA on Jan March 2018. On April 2018 I got my license. That gave me hope to make at least $500 CAD from my business. I got my first 3 agents on my agency and that gave me the opportunity and hope to develop new leaders and cross $1,000 CAD in income a month. 

When I got my 1st licensed agent that gave me hope to reach Junior Broker. When I reached my Junior Broker promotion in March 2019, that gave me hope to reach $50,000 CAD in annual income. After crossing $50K, that gave me hope to be a leader and become a Senior Broker. 

Today, that dream came true! We reach SMD promotion; we own our own agency and we are ready to compete with the best of the best.

03/11/2021 - BC business trip

I have been traveling between AB and BC due my new business office that started on March 2020. Even when COVD hit the entire world,  we strive and kept growing. 

On this coming Saturday  it will be the last trip. My office is independent and the can run it by themselves. I feel proud! I proved myself that I can develop leaders. So for sure I can do it again.

November 3rd was the day when we did history: our first massive Business Presentation Meeting.

More than 200 people attended to take advantage of a great information about how WFG have been changing lots of lives.

Our brokerage agency, Kingdom Financial by World Financial Group, since 3 years ago have been helping a significant number of Latino families around Alberta, and this is just the beginning.

It would take more than 10 pages to try to describe the feeling that passed through my chest when I saw the conference room full of people who changed their lives, others who just found out that they had hoped to reach their goals and dreams personally or by doing the business. To all of them: Gracias, totales!

Every single agent put everything they got to this event, providing the energy and commitment, bringing in friends and family to the event and making it an authentic party. The Senior Marketing Directors, with their leadership, ran all the logistics nice and smooth. The Marketing Directors, who are the people working hard to get SMD's promotion, providing the excitement and their discipline, and Associates and Training Associate who we are the newest agents in the team, we brought our hearts full of ambition and desire to reach success. But the most important thing, the will to help as many families as we can. "No family left behind."

Draws, prizes, fun; great speakers talking about things that matter for every family: mortgages, savings, insurances, etc. People who just got touch by WFG so much, that jumped in the business, a second chance to make extra income by helping others. Others who just share how WFG gave them the right protection for their family or saved them lots of money giving them the right advising. This is the power of WFG; This is what we do, what we are and what we will still be.

November 3rd: Celebrating our customers!

Have been more than 3 years since our brokerage agency opened its doors to latin families in their own language and with the latino approaching they were waiting for so long. 

Yes, there are agencies everywhere who could take care of the Hispanic market but to be honest, no one like us. From latino to another Latino. 

People have been waiting to get an important information in their own language, explained in terms that they could understand and also to take advantage of it. Now people are more financially educated, more financial oriented and most important, they are aware of the things that really matter related to money, retirement, and savings. 

This kind of help has to be thanks to all the people who said YES to extend their hand and jump in this amazing journey of entrepreneurship, challenges, hard work, decision and a big will to make some changes on the society. People with the same condition as you and me, who crossed 2 to 3 countries to reach Canada and start again with the hope to get better more than they were back home: Engineers, lawyers, accountants, diplomatic, business managers, from Latin America who saw big opportunities helping others as brokers of our amazing company. 

On November 3rd we all are going to celebrate this short journey, and we will grab more energy, more desire to keep going helping new families and offer them the opportunity they are looking for: stability, a strong economy, security and peace of mind.

September: Life Insurance Awareness Month vs New iPhone launching.

I just realized that September has 2 things that make it special, and at the same time, those contrast with one each other. 

The first one is about September, knew it as the “Life Insurance awareness month”. All the insurance companies across the country try to make an impact on the protection of the life and the life of the beloved ones. 

People don't need to be smart enough to know that besides the car and home insurance, it is so important to have a life insurance to help a family recover fast and give them stability for the coming years in case of loss.  And honestly, life insurance is not that expensive. But also, a high percentage of people don’t even care about it. They usually have another “priorities”, and it’s fair; we do not judge them. But, do they think in “what if” sometimes? Anyways. 

The other event that makes people more anxious and excited is the launch of the new iPhone/iWatch. Yes! A new gadget, the same technology. Sad, eh?

People get crazy about this kind of events. They want to be “on trend”. Lots of hashtags naming Apple everywhere.  And they don’t care to expend thousands of dollars and wait long hours in the line to be the first on the store. And the funny part of this is that they get the new and expensive phone, and a devise insurance in case they break it or crash it. 

Huge contrast between them, right?. That’s why all the efforts from companies to make it clear that people need to think in protecting their families. At the end of the day, after one year of your phone service contract, a new iPhone will come. And everything will start over again, with the difference that the price of the phone will go up. But, who cares? It is the new phone! On the other hand, your insurance will be there for the next 20-30 years or until you need it. And the price will be the same (depending on your age, coverage amount and the years of the term you picked).

I got the idea to write this because of a post on social media that in Mexico, the price of the new iPhone Xs could cover High medical expenses insurance. And to be honest, I think that a phone could not help your family pay the mortgage, the bills, etc. in the case of loss. I am just saying.

Short note #1 (08-24-2018)

One of the things that I really enjoy is writing; do my journal every night before I go to bed (when I am not too tired to do so). That’s why I started this kind of blog. And today I’m launching the “Short note” just to highlight some of the things that I learned through the week just passed. 

Let’s begin!

In the last couple of days, I could probably say that I break my fear of talking to people without any other reason just than talk and meet them. In this industry of business, we call it “prospecting”. And this is no the end, I will continue developing this skill because it is a skill. How did I get better? Well, going outside on networking events, taking action on it. 

The second thing that I learned is: never stop dreaming. And the most important thing don’t allow the world to steal that dream.
