“My Friend Frankie”, Cartoon Network Block Party #31, 2007
Since @tyrantisterror basically just brought this story’s premise up when thinking about the ramifications of Imaginary Friends in the show’s setting.
ah, my favorite foster’s comic story.

Just a dream
The start of a beautiful friendship
@monkiimax @ncfanboy1 This is from the “José (Joe) Carioca” newspaper strips that were published weekly in the US back in the 40s, from 1942 to 1944! There’s like over a hundred pages of these with six story arcs, most of them centered about José attempting to woo a girl by being a liar.
While he is pretty trigger happy, Panchito’s anger is justifiable; this José is a lying, cheating womanizer jerk who is constantly conning people, pretending to be rich and getting others to pay stuff for him.
In the story arc with Panchito, both are interested in the same girl - they Do Not get along and José is regularly making schemes to get the upper hand over Panchito. Some stuff with him, specifically:
They’re arguing over who’s gonna take the girl somewhere and she’s like “you both can take me!” Panchito’s like “you heard her” but then José goes “we can’t both take her, let’s take this outside”. Panchito goes thinking they’re gonna fight but then José LOCKS HIM OUTSIDE
He dares Panchito to spent the entire afternoon mounted on a horse, claiming he wouldn’t even get close to it. Panchito, self-labeled greatest caballero in the world, of course accepts; except it was a toy horse. He won the bet but he’s not amused, as you can see
He invites Panchito to go with him and the girl after winning (by cheating) a thing they did to see who’d go with her and Panchito is touched, only to find out he’s there to pay for the dinner
He also invites him to go buy clothes with him and then is like “Panchito, pay the bill” (he says he’s just borrowing but. This is José. We Know Panchito’s never getting that money back)
All in all Panchito’s a pretty nice and honorable dude. In two of the times he was out to kill José his intention was to have a duel, handing him one of his own guns on the panels of the original post. And what happened before that?
Panchito had found out José had been lying and told him he knew, but he won’t tell the girl - in fact, he’s gonna take them for dinner, the movies and dancing, and he’s paying (thus the “you lived today as if it was the last day of your like, no?” comment)
Context aside, this is a very cute panel
In the end, José wins by teaching the girl’s horse dude how to woo a girl in exchange for borrowing the fastest horse and beating Panchito in a race-
-but neither of them get the girl, as the girl the horse dude wanted to woo is the same girl José and Panchito were interested in and she’s now off with him.
By the end they seem to be on somewhat… friendly terms? Panchito’s like “cheer up, it’s a good thing we lost Lili (the girl)” and José’s like “you’re right, i’ll see you another time”
Who knows, maybe after all this Panchito gets used to José’s trickstery ways and stops letting him take advantage of him and they slowly develop a genuine friendship
Panchito + HandshakesÂ
+ Bonus:
SO… I was a little disappointed with the design of these guys for the second season of Ducktales Reboot. Donnie’s design it’s kinda cute to me (it suits the style of the series) and I’ve choose not to change anything on him BUT… I think that José and Panchito are way too different from their original looks. The first pic is obv my version and the lower one is the original, hope you can see the differences. Tell me what you think about it!

Saludos Amigos (1942) // “The Town Where Everyone Was Nice” (2018)
i have known no rest since figuring out that launchpad is at least 8’7” if josé is 5’3” in ducktales (this is launchpadmcfuck)
5′3′’??????? HES HOW TALL??????? HELLO??????? QU’EST CE QUE THE FUCK GOING ON … JOSE IS TALL COMPARED TO MOST HUMAN GAYS
he tries to claim he’s 190cm in this pic but if you remove the hat he’s like 160cm aka 5’3”
THIS PARROT BICH,…… IDK WHO HE THINKS HES FOOLING WITH THIS BUT IM GONNA EAT HIS FEET OFFÂ

Can we appreciate José and Panchito being total bros?
When Daisy comes in with her new boyfriend to make Donald jealous, the other boys aren’t having it!
Donald: “Uhh…. have a good time.”
José: “He does not like you.”
Panchito: “He does not like you either.”
Panchito: “But I’m on the fence.”
