Recognizing the need for greater penetration of IT Services domestically, the Survey notes that the government's "Make in India" mission has included IT and BPM among the 25 focus sectors.
Trends to look forward to:
According to NASSCOM, there will be demand for niche technology skills and domain specific capabilities in the IT Services sector this year. Thus, forcing organizations to focus on lateral hiring in order to find domain specialists; whose skill sets make up 11 to 12 percent of the sector’s overall 3.1 million employees.
Companies are expected to look for fresh skill sets whilst hiring candidates this year.
Unlike previous years, which saw an increase in the demand for mobile App developers, data warehouse analysts and UX designers; recent studies suggest the markets of social, mobility, analytics and cloud (SMAC) to be worth 225 Billion U.S Dollars by 2020. Most Indian IT Services majors are invested heavily in this upcoming area.
The explosion of start-ups is the single biggest driver to the hiring frenzy seen in the IT Software product/productized service hiring scenario. With the advent of cloud computing and firms that focus on mobile first technology (both within India and overseas) have started reprioritizing what they are looking for in prospective employees; therefore changing hiring trends for 2015 and the years to come.
