We are not allowed to make scammer/cheater alert threads on Neopets. Why? Because, according to TNT, it is "harassment". I personally feel that we NEED to be informed of malicious users, so here is the OFFICIAL tumblr for scammer alerts. *Please read rules before submitting. I find this entire post hilarious.

You forgot to mention that without the “black market” UC’s, there would be NO pound chat now a days. All the “PC regulars” have pets that were at one point illegit or taken from inactive accounts… they probably don’t even know. Without us taking inactive pets and putting them back in circulation, trading would be damn near impossible. Some UC’s are so inactive that they are going to be deleted in the purge.. and NOBODY can have them.

Instead of putting it on blast, you should be thanking people who do the illegit things. I’m prety sure that screenshot requires you to be a member on such sites as well.. interesting.

Some people don’t have the time or patience to deal with all the bullshit that comes with the pound chat and take another avenue. Nothing wrong with that. It’s much easier. MUCH easier. So I think you should focus less on the fact that there are illegit pets out there, and more about yourself. ;)

I openly admit I do research, meaning if I have to make a fake account on a site, so be it. I have nothing to hide so what's so "interesting" about that?

I find this entire response hilarious. The fact that you glorify and justify robbing people and making money off of it is extremely amusing.

Todays Post - The Unconverted Pet Black Market

So, we all know that Unconverted pets (UCs) are very high end in the pet trading market of Neopets. 

They're sought after by thousands of users and are extremely hard to trade for if you don't meet the requirements set by the community. 

At least, you'd think so.

Various cheat sites that over the years have provided programs, illegitimate accounts and stolen items/NPs/NC for users to purchase with real money. But something they also sell, is unconverted pets.

Usually, UCs are very expensive but for a user looking to gain some status among the boards, this is no issue. We have seen tons and tons of bought UCs on the Pound Chat and other places over the years. 

How do they obtain these UCs?

Well, it's hard to say if you are not involved in that market. My overall assumptions would be that these pets are taken from inactive/actively compromised accounts that float around these sites for sale. 

Unfortunately, due to this "black market", legitimate users with THEIR OWN UCs are automatically deemed suspicious. Not only that, but their accounts are targeted to be compromised. 

How do you tell if user A's pet is illegit?

This is actually complicated. Before, people solely relied on caches. BUT, we have learned over time that the cache is NOT LAW!

Here's some examples I've found while researching some illegitimate pet sites. 

Please always be cautious of the pets true origin BEFORE you try to trade for it. Even if you can't 100% tell, always go with your gut. Familiarize yourself with the PC regulars so you have a better idea on who to trust (and even then...)

 You can be frozen for accepting an illegitimate pet. (Or, as I've seen lately, they reverse the transfer.) Stay safe!

It was January 30th, I as browsing the NC Mall and was looking into the Sweetheart Grams, when this popped up. I tried exiting out of the popup 3 different times, but it just kept popping up. I then exited out of the tab, and tried again in another tab, but it did it again. So I reported it, and scanned my computer, and it hasn't happened since. "

Tips - "My account was compromised!"

So you go to log on one day and you say:

"Hey, this item wasn't here before.."

"My NPS/UC/etc are gone!"

"I can't log in!"

If you have ACCESS to your account (you're already logged in)

Change your email.

Change your PIN.

Find out what exactly is missing.

IF YOU HAVEN'T DONE THIS ALREADY, WHICH YOU SHOULD: Open Notepad or a Word doc (Or pen and paper) and write down ALL of the internal information of your account.

This would include:

Your email before you changed it and current.

Your old PIN and current.

Password.

NP on hand.

NP in bank.

NP in stocks and stocks you've invested in.

Estimate of inventory/SDB items.

Pet names

Neofriends, recent neomails.

NC transaction history (if you buy NC)

Premium? Your bank information.

Your birthday.

TNT are wary on screenshots, but don't hesitate to take them if you feel this is easier and faster than writing it all down. 

If you DON'T have access, see below.

Next step: SELF FREEZE. 

This is the BEST thing you can do to lock out whoever compromised your account, even IF you change your information.

Log onto a side and submit a ticket to TNT with all of the information you have written down, and explain what happened. If your EMAIL was compromised, make sure you tell them to contact you on an email you can access. They will. 

While you're waiting for your account to return, a good place to go would be to the Lost Account Waiting Board located in the Games Chat. There are plenty of users in your situation and are happy to give you more advice, and hope! They're very nice and informative.

While your account is being investigated, you ARE allowed to use your side as your main and do dailies, play games, and whatever else you would normally do on your side. Editorials #300 and #321 confirm this.

Remember to respond to your tickets promptly and never lose hope! A lot of users in your situation have had their accounts/pets/items returned. The wait will be worth it!
