can we have your favourites list? (or underrated ones!)
Sure! I'll list a bunch of my favorites + fics I think are super underrated (oftentimes they are both!)
black hole fantasy by Anonymous
Looking in at another universe obsessively like this, itâs a bad habit â a peek of something he canât have, another painful tug on his heart, another pointless reminder that heâs ruined everything. Irreparably. Forever. Five times over. But he keeps looking.
Grianâs been torturing himself with this every night, anyway, whatâs one more snoop?
On Hermitcraft, there's a different version of Grian, perfectly happy with his Scar. Somehow, in the middle of Secret Life, Grian manages to wake up in his body.
always, again, you by mrgrtvll
Scar dies, and Grian learns he will die again.
Over and over. In every lifetime.
Immortal, cursed, and unwilling to let go, Grian chases Scar across centuries â determined, desperate, devoted.
But some endings you only understand when you stop trying to outrun them.
A reincarnation epic where love lasts longer than lifetimes, and endings are only beginnings in disguise.
^ absolutely one of THE most underrated fics out there!!
water boil over by duskfel
Grian knows these moments of tenderness are a sword edged just as sharp as they are soft. With absolute certainty, he knows this moment will kill him. And yetâŚ
Grianâs never met a big red button he wouldnât press.
Or: Grian and Scar wing preening with a side of daydreaming about being killed by the partner youâre indebted to.
take only what you can carry by Raichett
âTake only what you can carry. Anything left behind will be lost to you.â The voice echoes with a thousand tones all overlapping. It is not loud, and it is somehow understandable, exact.
Or: the Watchers offer the winner of Secret Life his choice of prize, before they leave forever.
The Effects of Friendly Fire by SillyHarpy0306
The line between âfriendly banterâ and âflirtingâ has gotten blurry.
^ also EXTREMELY underrated
it feels good to be known so well by roseandmaple (cecropia)
Somehow, in the chaos that is the apocalypseâ former human beings rising from the dead and whatnotâ Scar has managed to find his way into the Compound, a makeshift gated community of survivors from all around the world, led by a man they call Grian. By some grace of God (or, more accurately, his own silver tongue) Scar has quickly climbed his way up the ranks, and has found himself in the position of their leaderâs right hand man.
The unfortunate thing, though, is that Scarâs pretty sure he doesnât deserve it. Because Scar is still himselfâ clumsy, forgetful, recklessâ but for some reason, Grian hasnât sent him away yet, hasnât replaced him with someone better, and a nagging voice in the back of Scarâs mind has one question: why?
Or: Scar gets injured, Grian fixes him up, and they finally talk about their feelings.
A Kiss From You Tastes Twice As Sweet by AnxiousPotionofGloom
His words are rewarded with a laugh. It's a wild and hungry thing, the sound of faraway bells chiming in tandem. The corner of Grian's eyes crinkle, pink lips stretching into a satisfied smile, and Scar has to wet his own, overcome with the dizzying desire to consume.
Sandy brown hair dips into the cover of his shoulder, a whisper so close to his ear Scar cannot stop a shiver. "Are you loyal to the king?"
It makes him smile, sharp and slow, showing all of his razor-edged teeth as he whispers in kind. "Ah, but I promised him, the King, that I'll remain loyal to the end of my days." Dark eyes delight in the deception, pupils growing wide in half-hidden interest.
Loyal... Scar had never bothered precising to whom.
Royal Advisor Scar meets foreign Fae 'King' Grian. It never felt so good to burn.
Silver Bullet by PuckParty
The Hormonal Exposure And Regulation Therapy Institution, often called the HEART Institution, is an offshoot of hospitals that primarily handle ABO-related emergencies and help regulate hormonally destabilized alphas and omegas through pheromone therapy and actual therapy. Most employees work in the emergency and data departments, but some work in the Extended Stay Treatment department, also simply called the EST. Scar is at the top of his game and, as a high-value member of the EST division, he often is put in more stressful and high-pressure jobs. When he's tasked with a high-profile client, he's shocked to learn about a secret son in the Xelqua family by the name of Grian Xelqua and just how desperately he needs Scar's help... even though he insists on refusing it.

A "Silver Bullet" is a simple solution that acts as a magical weapon, especially one that instantly solves a long-standing problem.
sometimes i forget (sometimes i cannot) by Anonymous
Even heroes⯠even Hotguys⯠can feel insecure over their reflections, as it turns out.
Itâs a good thing Scar has two partners willing and able to drag him out of his own head when need be, and tell him just how beautiful he really is.
All I could think about was the sand at the bottom (and how I wished that it would bury me) by GirlyPear
Grian's nails dig into Scar's shoulder, blood pools underneath his fingernails. He laughs as the other hisses in pain, the hand around his throat tightening and slamming his head against the wall.
Teeth sink into his neck and he gasps, arching forward for more.
In his hand, he grasps sharpened wood and with one smooth movement he buries it deep inside cold flesh.
Scar gasps, hot and pained against his collar, and claws dig into his neck until blood spills past.
"You are a mean one, pretty bird."

somewhere between the surface and the seabed by LovesickPrince
It's a classic tale of love: Grian, a mer from the depths of the sea, makes a deal with a sea witch to exchange his voice for a pair of legs and go visit the human whose life he had saved. Only in this case, Grian is more interested in the sea witch than the human.
(If only someone had bothered to tell Scar, the sea witch in question, about this divergence).
both arms cradle you now by elio_the_dud
Rotting away in an empty apartment wasn't the life Grian had wanted, but it was the one he'd resigned himself to. It seemed easier to hope he'd fade away than to face the giant monstrosity that was existence. Why did everything have to be scary? Where had he gone wrong? What had led him to this life of exhaustion and anxiety? It felt like it would never end, darkness and fear coiling around his neck like a noose, forever tightening until he'd finally snap.

Just Another Day by Orbita_l
âSomething out there, or rather more logically something deeply scored within them, was compelled to remind them from time to time that, whilst they could walk out of the desert, the desert would always live and breathe and rage inside them.â
Eleven years have passed since Grian and Scar managed to escape the desert hand in bloodied hand. They have since built their lives together- comfortable, domestic and blissfully entwined, free from the burdens of war and just as hopelessly smitten as when they first met.
It has been their longest streak without incident to date, but when Scar suddenly âreds outâ one morning, Grian finds the rug is swept from under his feet. He knows one thing for absolute certain, though: heâll do anything to make his Scar feel better and to get them both through another day.
Or:
Domestic middle aged Scarian with a side of 3rd life angst.

A kindly, but odd Captain Scar is quick to take in the avian on his first day into town and induct him into his crew. Little does Grian know that this captain is not as innocent as he may come across, and the relationship that fosters amidst trials of crime and violence might just be exactly what Grian was looking for, whether he realizes it or not.
But not all captains go down with their ship.
