we’re pouring billions into data centers capable of, well… amazing things. yet my washing machine confidently tells me “12 minutes remaining” before proceeding to hold me hostage for another 47 minutes. this isn’t really a technology problem. it’s an incentives problem. data centers get built because there’s enormous capital chasing ai returns. investors, governments, and tech giants are all racing to own the infrastructure of the future. the money flows where the perceived value is.
