The Beast of Baskerville by Mildredandbobbin (74K, E, Johnlock, Sally/Anderson, Clara/Harry, Molliarty, John/Sarah, Warstan) 15th Century/fairy tale AU. An invalided John Watson comes to the isolated village of Baskerville seeking shelter with his sister, only to become embroiled in a grisly murder. As the villagers point to a local werewolf legend, the odd but brilliant friar, Brother Sherlock, disagrees and soon he and John are on the the trail of a murderer. Captivated by the enigmatic friar, John finds himself struggling with his illicit feelings for the celibate man of God.
Beneath the Desert Moon by i_ship_an_armada, ShinySherlock (62K, E, Johnlock) The year is 1936. Renowned consulting archaeologist, Sherlock Holmes, has been hired by the British Government to find the Ark of the Covenant, before his competitors can deliver it to Hitler and his army. Sherlock faces many challenges in his quest, but the biggest of all might be facing John Watson and mending their broken relationship.
The Best of Times by Polyphony (72K, M, Johnlock and John/OMC) Struggling to cope with life after Reichenbach, John is gravely injured during a vicious, apparently motiveless street attack. Convalescing, on Mycroft’s invitation, at the Holmes family seat, John encounters someone entirely unexpected and uncovers an intriguing seventeen year-old mystery. Things hot up as John finds himself battling to work out the solution before James Moriarty’s legacy catches up with him – and also rekindling a love affair that was never really given the chance to blossom. Mystery, murder and mayhem together with love, romance and the return of the absent Sherlock in an enigma that will keep you on your toes until the very end.
The Case of the Green Gown by splix (209K, E, Johnlock and Warstan) …Watson had at that time deserted me for a wife, the only selfish action which I can recall in our association. I was alone. —Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, The Adventure of the Blanched Soldier
Follow You Into the Trenches by twisting_vine_x (13K, E, Johnlock) When Sherlock goes underground to track down the gunmen, he doesn’t do it alone. Unfortunately, Moriarty’s operatives aren’t exactly helpless, and when John ends up in the line of fire – again – the ensuing events turn Sherlock’s world inside out in ways he might not ever be able to come back from.
For He Would Be Thinking of Love by hogwartswitch (37K, E, Johnlock) Discharged from the United States Army after being shot in the shoulder, Captain John Watson finds himself on a train Westward to Big Sky Montana country in the late 1800s. He settles in Lockwood, a small Western community in need of a Sheriff. There he meets schoolteacher Sherlock Holmes, who makes him question the very essence of who he is. Along the way, he also faces the conflicts of life in the old West.
Fornicatio Autem by azriona (50K, E, Johnlock) England, the 13th century. John Watson and Sherlock Holmes have been betrothed since they were children, despite not knowing each other at all. But Earl Moriarty has long desired Sherlock Holmes – and only one man can stand in the Earl’s way. The question is – will he?
Ghost in the Water by bittergreens (21K, M, Johnlock) The first stage of grief is denial. After Sherlock’s death, John Watson refuses to move on. Sherlock has to intervene, even if it means coming back as a ghost.
Ghosts by orphan_account (14K, T, Johnlock) A dead man is haunted by ghosts at Christmastime and, together, they help bring him back to life
Gravity by thegingerbatch (63K, E, Johnlock and Warstan) On the three year anniversary of Sherlock’s death, John finds something unusual in his flat. He shouldn’t be so thrilled to be finally going mad. But is he? Oh god, yes.
If You Can’t Move Heaven, Raise Hell by splix (83K, E, Johnlock, Sherlock/OMC, John/OMC, MorMor) All John Watson wants is a peaceful fortnight’s holiday in Cornwall. Fate has other plans.
Infiltrate (tear down the walls and the gate) by SkipandDi (73K, E, Johnlock) This is a moment Sherlock will look back to time and again as the future stalks forward; an instance he will use to justify his actions, the decisions he will make. He’d known Moriarty was working solely for his attention, even John had recognized as much during the first assault. But Sherlock has been a fool, a dangerous, incompetent fool, because this is so far beyond all that. It always has been.
Lucid by dr_girlfriend (71K, E, Johnlock) The first time it happened was completely by accident. Post-Reichenbach, John finds a way to hold on to Sherlock after all.
Making It Better by sideris (96K, E, Johnlock) Returning to London, and his old life, proves harder and more dangerous than Sherlock expected.
My Will’s Not My Own by sailorchibi (50K, M, Johnlock, Sheriarty, Mollstrade) The bomb exploded, and Sherlock was kidnapped in the immediate aftermath of the Great Game. Moriarty has come up with a plan to discredit him, and it works perfectly: everyone believes that Sherlock wanted to have sex with Moriarty, and it’s turned his life upside down. He doesn’t fully understand what happened, and Moriarty is still out there - and he’s making promises to come back. But now that John, Lestrade and Mycroft have found out the truth, they’re going to do everything they can to protect Sherlock and give Moriarty what he deserves. The real question is whether or not they can ever make it up to Sherlock.
Nocturne in Tempo Rubato by Nikoshinigami (50K, T, Johnlock) Nothing is ever simple for John Watson when it involves Sherlock Holmes. With the world doing its best to outdo even its only consulting detective, can the things left unsaid ever finally be spoken?
Preservation by Mildredandbobbin (32K, E, Johnlock) There was something there, between John and Sherlock, something on the other side of platonic, but John was straight and Sherlock was undead. John thought they had all the time in the world to sort it out. Vampire!lock AU.
Saudade by tunteeton (96K, E, Johnlock) saudade (port.): a deep and melancholy longing for something or someone that is gone and not coming back. Homesickness, an emptiness in one’s soul, a love that remains after the loved one dies.John loses Sherlock, gains Sherlock and learns to never, ever, ever pray.

Watson’s Folly by Diana Williams (299K, M, Johnlock, Mystrade, and MorMor) John Watson, the new Earl of Saughton, is madly in love with the beautiful Mary Morstan. But he has returned from the Peninsular War to find his family on the brink of ruin and his ancestral home mortgaged to the hilt. He has little choice when he is introduced to Mycroft Holmes, a civil servant of apparently unlimited wealth and no social ambitions for himself - but with his eyes firmly fixed on a suitable match for his only brother, the unorthodox and irascible Omega Sherlock Holmes. Can John forget the woman he loved and find happiness with a man so very different from his lost love?
Where You Gonna Run To? by Geneva_Lee (35K, E, Johnlock) John takes life one day at a time, trying to put the pieces back together. Everything changes when a comment appears on his blog three years after he stopped writing. The comment is from someone calling themselves Richard Brook.
Within You (Without You) by 1lostone (63K, E, Johnlock and John/OMC) It wasn’t fair to say that Sherlock never miscalculated. As often as he might wish otherwise, Sherlock was, after all, only human. As John would say, ‘on the “rare” occasions when Sherlock fucked something up, he really fucked something up.‘This was most definitely one of those times.
The Vampires of London by consultingdetective (72K, E, Johnlock) Over one hundred years after the first battle, a series of murders have caught the attention of London’s police force and Sherlock Holmes. While most of the city has forgotten the vampire that once walked its streets, the descendants of the Van Helsing, Harker, and Seward families have not.
Prompt Fill: Cult + Jack + Angel!Bitty
Pairing: Zimbits
Summary: The NHL has a yearly retreat that’s a lazy cover for high ranking players to get drunk and try to command ice magic. Jack’s over it. Bob’s really over it. Until they finally manage to summon something.
“Hate these fucking things,” Bob sighs, lifting his hood enough to take a long pull from his beer. “Every damn year I have to watch; everyone knows the magic is in the ice, not in the players. Certainly not in the league front office.”
“Thank you again for dragging me into this,” Jack mumbles, adjusting his own smaller, less-obnoxious mask. There are no air holes and he keeps having to push the thing up so he can breathe.
“It’s tradition,” Bob argues. “A shitty, shitty tradition. You know one of these days we will actually manage to summon something and it’s going to end one of two ways: a bloodbath or an orgy. I’m hoping for the former, put me out of my misery so we never have to do one of these things again.”
A loud cheer goes up across the field, near the bonfire, and they both raise their hands reflexively.
“So say we all,” Jack says in unison with his father.
It’s Jack’s second Ceremony since he signed with the Providence Falconers and he’s already bored, he can only imagine how his father feels pushing forty of these damn things. He wants to go home, he wants to be in bed with his boyfriend.
“What are they trying to summon this year?”
“An angel,” Bob sighs, finally pulling off his hood for a moment to reveal a mess of sweaty hair. “Or some kind of divine being. Last year it was a demon, a year before was a Sphinx for some reason. At this point, it seems like the front office is just drawing from a hat. We’ve never actually managed to —“
A whip-crack of thunder interrupts his father and Jack looks up at the clear night sky for any sign of a storm. There’s nothing.
“Huh. Well, that’s —“
Their attention is dragged back across the field where the bonfire has shifted from orange to a bright blue.
“Tabarnak,” Bob curses, tossing his bottle to the side and pulling his hood back on before taking off toward the commotion. “They finally managed to do something stupid!”
“Jack follows suit and runs after his father, outpacing the other rubbernecking stragglers, to find the upper echelons of current and past NHL talent huddled around … Something.
Someone in blue grabs Jack’s arm — another Falconer — and Jack hears Marty’s voice say, “You have to get him out of here.”
Jack shoves Marty out of the way and finds Bitty sitting on the ground in his shorts and Jack’s favorite Samwell tee, hugging his knees to his chest, trying to hide his face.
“Our Angel!” A man in gold yells, and the crowd roars.
Jack doesn’t look away from his shaking partner, the love of his life, or from the pair of small auburn wings arching delicately from his shoulder-blades.
Someone reaches out to touch Bitty and Jack jumps to smack the hand away. The crowd goes silent and Bitty still keeps his head down, clearly terrified.
“Hey! What the fuck is your problem!? We’ve been blessed we can do whatever we want to it.”
Jack can see Marty, his father, two men in black, one of whom must be Uncle Mario, and a smattering of color-coded allies watching closely and moving lesser ranking players out of the way. Jack can recognize an escape plan when he sees one.
He doesn’t waste any time falling to one knee to scoop Bitty up with one arm under his knees and the other around his chest; he struggles a bit at first, kicking, scratching, but Jack leans in and whispers, “Lapin, don’t be scared, it’s me, I’m taking you home.”
Bitty looks up with red eyes and whispers, “Honey?”
Me at the end, even though I’d read the prompt: WHAT
There will be a point in Bitty’s future, after he has lived in Providence for a while, when he realizes that despite his accent and his roots, he’s not a southerner anymore.
He’ll go back home for the Fourth of July barbeque, step off the plane with Jack, and curse immediately at the heat.
He’ll commute during the first snowstorm of the season and yell, “Did y'all forget how to drive in the snow?”
He’ll open the windows in the house after a long winter because it’s finally fifty degrees outside.
Then he’ll realize what he’s just done and sit down on his couch and cry, because no amount of y'alls and peach pies will change the fact that he doesn’t belong there anymore. How did he turn into this? How did he get so far from home?
Bitty reax only
Let it all end happily.

Heart of the Home
@alphacrone, you’re an asshole and we’re breaking up.
Eric Bittle could grout tile by the time he was thirteen, use a circular saw by fifteen, and his Eagle Scout project partnered with Habitat For Humanity to repair and rebuild houses for people that couldn’t afford to do the repairs on their own. He didn’t regret giving up figure skating for this; the time spent bonding with Coach or renovating kitchens with Mama. It gave him purpose, a use for his restless body, and so what if he turned down that fancy scholarship to Samwell?
What would he really miss out on, anyway? They had their show to worry about after all. Bitty smiled as he leaned back against a table he’d built for the latest remodel, crossing his arms, Mama and Coach having already done their promotional shoots at other houses. It had been a long day, full of photoshoots and commercial filming. Necessary evils, Eric knew, but good for his work. Plus, it was a nice change from being covered in sawdust or grout.
His phone chimed happily next to him and he check his texts as the photographer adjusted the lights.
Mama: Bad Bob wants to be on our show! Mama: Well, he wants his son’s little house on the show.
He frowned, scrolling through the show details. Inspections, approvals, and Mama had done a rough sketch of a remodel based off of the blueprints. It was a two story Cape Cod detached house located just off a row of frat houses near the college campus. Three bedrooms, two baths, a full serviced attic, kitchen, and living room; according to Coach, they would all need work.
Coach: It’s a four to six month project. Coach: Your lead.
Your lead.
Eric gripped his phone a little tighter. A four to six month project as his first lead? What type of budget did this Bad Bob have to spend anyway?
More importantly, what did he just get himself into?
[to be continued]
!!
You’ll find Eric Richard Bittle and Jack Laurent Zimmermann in the highest room of the tallest tower of JACK ZIMMERMANN’S PERSONAL PONG PALACE, BABYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Jack: “I love you.”
He waits for a moment, then starts babbling.
Jack: “Or- I’m. I didn’t- I meat I’d love it if — or. Ah. I… I. Bits. You were joking but. Sorry.”
Bitty: “… No. I’m sorry.”
Bitty sniffs.
Bitty: “I should.”
Jack: “But I meant it. I do love you. Which is early to…”
Jack sighs.
Jack: “I’m crazy. But it’s like with hockey. Or I realized you meant a lot to me and…”
(crosstalk, Bitty sniffs, crying)
Jack: “Shit.”
Bitty: “Oh honey, no. No… I, I love you too. I’ve been loving you.”
bitty: “oh honey no no… i i love you too i’ve been loving you

We’re all excited about Jack winning his first cup, but consider Providence being a cup-less team for YEARS with a small cast of aging veteran players convinced they’ll slide into retirement without a championship to their name.
Then comes along an unexpected rookie: the infamous son of a league legend, with a career-defining secret, his cute boyfriend, and a host of new and wonderful superstitions. And imagine that, the kid’s a superstar.
The Falconers start winning and they keep winning. For the first time in a long time, the veterans have hope.
Then they make it to the playoffs. Round one. Round Two. Suddenly, they’re in the Final. Then, the Falconers break the curse on clutch Zimmermann goal and as much as the win belongs to hockey’s prodigal son, there are men on his team who have been waiting just as long to prove themselves, longer even.
So, congratulations to Marty, Thirdy, and Guy, the veterans who never thought they’d see Lord Stanley’s Cup bear their names.
This win is for you.
dude came into my work and was whistling along to the christmas music we’re playing so i asked him if he was excited for christmas and he said ‘i’m just excited about everything! :)’ what a pleasant answer
um
can’t tell if fry guy’s a schooners fan or just a perpetually exasperated falcs fan bummed by the fries in his hair.
Fun Christmas idea:
Hang mistletoe but instead of kissing you have to FIGHT whoever else is under it
Mistlefoe™
This seems like the kind of hypermasculine tradition a pro hockey player with the nickname ‘Bad Bob’ would maintain every holiday season, so consider Zimbits attending a Zimmerparent holiday party populated with Old Guard hockey legends and Bitty going ‘Look, Jack! Mistletoe!’ And Jack leaping into action like a secret service agent taking a bullet.
Later, Jack has an ice pack over his eye and Mario Lemeiux is sheepishly avoiding everyone. Bitty’s on his fourth mulled cider.
Eric: You should have let him deck me, Jack. Hockey legend sucker punching a gay guy? That’s a hate crime. We could have owned the Penguins.
Eric: But no, you had to be all valiant and brave *sniff* and protect me…*sobbing*…like you always protect me…
unfinished business - part one
[[Unfinished Business – a series of Halloween fics that @whoacanada started and never managed to finish. General warnings for the series: implied character deaths, mental illness, ghosts, monsters, possession, probably gore idk, etc.]]
Title: possession (is the motivation)
Summary: After a tragic accident, Jack wakes up in the hospital with more than one voice in his head.
It’s like this every day.
Every waking moment he entertains a voice of reason — of madness — that is not his own and never will be. Only one body was fished out of Providence River that night. One body and two minds.
Doctors were quick to assume the worst, but that’s not what this is.
[A product of severe psychological trauma —]
He can still play. Ownership isn’t going to let a little thing like insanity keep Providence from another cup. There’s still an ‘A’ on Jack’s uniform. It’s still his team, and if he skates a little faster, spins a little more than usual, no one can argue with the results.
You look stunning in blue. I wish you’d wear it more often.
“Thank you,” Jack says, trying not to stare down his own reflection to search for lingering signs of Eric Richard Bittle. Instead, he finds only scars — remnants of the accident and horrors he’d just as soon forget.
Badges of honor, the voice placates. You’re beautiful. A testament to your strength, your ability to adapt. To survive.
“I survived you,” Jack mutters, prodding at a thin line of scar tissue that curves across his cheek. “Not that I ever wanted to.”
None of that, Sugar —
Jack can feel his control slipping away by inches as the aggressive press of his fingers lessens and a hand he no longer controls caresses his skin; a distinct contrast to the cold burn of something distinctly other taking command of his body.
This is how Jack knows he’s not insane, that he’s not merely the product of his unique life experiences and mental illness. He allows himself to be swept away, unable to find the motivation to fight; not this early, not over something as simple as clothing choice and how to style his hair.
Don’t part my hair. Jack thinks. We’re not going out today.
“Oh, I do believe we are. You haven’t been shopping in days. If you are unable to find the time to maintain your own well being, I will be quite happy to do so for the both of us.”
He’s already thumbing through Jack’s shirts for the royal blue button-up he’d been encouraging earlier.
We need eggs. Chicken. Milk. Some bread. Jack goes down the list in his mind and the Other laughs so sweetly in Jack’s stolen voice.
“I can make bread, Darlin’. No red meat for you today?”
Training, Jack offers. Paper towels, toilet paper, Jack continues. Spinach, onions, celery. Carrots maybe? I really should leave this to you.
The Other presses a kiss to his knuckles and shoots a smile back to the mirror. If Jack focuses hard enough, he thinks he can see Eric’s face looking back.
Sometimes I do miss being ‘them’ instead of ‘us’, Jack laments.
“At least we’re together,” Bitty soothes with Jack’s voice. “I’m right here with you, right where you need me.”
______
Jack scans the menu and tries not to smile at Bitty’s excited rambling in the back of his mind.
“Crawfish étouffée! Honey, next time you have to try it. I mean, I know it can’t possibly hold a candle to what we had in New Orleans, but I want to know if the chef is —“
“Something funny?”
Jack brings his attention back to the table, where his father is watching him carefully.
“Just…a memory. That’s all.”
“Something is wrong with you,” Bob insists, dropping his credit card on top of a bill he hasn’t bothered to look at. “Is the medication working?”
“It slows me down,” Jack defends, even as Bitty bristles.
How can he play if he can’t think, Robert?
“Don’t,” Jack warns under his breath, barely able to catch Bitty’s words from escaping him, and his father watches him with terrifyingly knowing eyes.
“You think I don’t know what this is? What you’re hiding?” Bob accuses softly. “You would have said anything to get out of the hospital. The voices you were hearing, they didn’t go away, did they?”
Jack can feel his control slipping and Bitty snaps, “I’m not a voice.”
Aaaaaaaah I’m so sad about the premise but so elated about this fic!

Spells
Hello. So one of my biggest complaints of the D&D 5e Player’s Handbook is that searching for spells is a bit of a pain. Even if you manage to obtain a pdf file of it, many of the spells’ titles are written l i k e th i s, making it quite difficult to search with the classic ctr-F.
Because of this, I created a pdf of all of the spells that are in the book, complete with a table of contents linked to them, so you can search the table of contents for your spell, and then zip to the spell you need. Very useful, if I’m allowed to say.
Behold. It is on dropbox, though you can view it (without the magical zipping) without a dropbox account.
Happy D&D playing!
shit!
Hi so I’ve taken your document and taken your work a step further by putting every one of those spells into an Excel spreadsheet where each spell has separate columns for each aspect of it (level, school, casting time etc), including what classes have access to which spells!
This means that in addition to using ctr-F to search, a person can sort or filter by any number of criteria they’re looking for. For example, if someone is using the Arcane Trickster archetype for a rogue, they only have access to the Wizard spell list, and even then they can only (with a few exceptions) pick from the illusions and enchantments, so its useful to be able to sort by multiple criteria at once.
Here it is! You can only view, not sort, in the online view, and the way i’ve formatted it, the spell descriptions and a few other pieces of information get cut off by the edge of their cells so you’re gonna want to download this one to use it.
Coincidentally, there is also The Grimoire, which has been around for a few years now. It has all of the spells in the PHP + extra materials, and can be searched by title and also sorted by class, spell level, and tags (ie ‘illusion’ or ‘necromancy’).
