Flashback
The air was rank, stale. The metallic scent of blood piercing her nostrils as the damp air dripped with pain and death. But the overwhelming odor of burning flesh was something she’d never forget. She heard the sounds of a blood curdling scream ripping from a young girl somewhere in the room. It took a moment to realize that scream was from her very own throat, tearing through the cavernous chamber she found herself conscious in. Fingers came up to grasp along her neck when she realized the pain was getting worse as the darkness she’d been encumbered in began to fade.
Nothing would ever come close to that pain again, feeling her flesh seared by the cast iron collar around her neck and now searing off the pads of her fingers as she clutched to it in a feeble attempt at its removal. It had been heated to the most brutal of temperatures, to be clasped around every waking child the cult had procured for their ranks. It was a symbol of ownership. She no longer belonged to herself.
Identical, cast-iron chains heated to searing temps were around both her ankles and wrists, creating matching scars. But it would be the deforming collar about her neck that would be the real symbol. They were her first scars she’d ever receive from the cult, signifying she was now their puppet, to be used as they willed. Never would she have imagined she’d be the best at what she was. A trained killer. A professional assassin. Their crowned jewel.
Thank you, @killerkyara!
Flashback, for a scene of the past.
She was running. So, so fast. The world blurring by in shades ofgrays and greens. The crashing of feet along soil, the rustling of branches andsnaps of twigs creating a crescendo in the forest.
And then it all stopped, a shrill giggle echoing around her.
Scassira whirled around, chocolate hues wide as she peered toward theshadows, then the movement to the west caught her eyes and she whirled again. Alow crouch was taken, a stalking toward the largest tree trunk, back placedalong its bark.
And all too soon, a sharp pain in the back ofher head was felt as she slumped forward slowly, staggered, and crimson seeped down her pale face. She peered up toward the looming form dressed in violet and blackened robes, already feeling disgustingly dizzy, seeing the two, violeteyes peering back at her beneath the shadows of the familiar hood.
A clawed hand reached out to her, curling in a beckoning fashion. “Get up, girl. Your training has taught you better than this,” came the reptilian sneer.
And then the world went black as the young Scassira succumbed to the darkness.
(Thanks, @safrona-shadowsun!)
She wanted to be an angel. A spiritual being that were only ever spoke of in fairytales and folklore of death and heaven.
But something went wrong.
She’d fallen into the deepest pits that could have been considered hell. It could have even been considered worse than hell. Her wings were not white. She did not shine from the glow of the sun as she soared through the heavens. She did not usher souls into the gates of the greatest and most holy of places to rest eternally.
She had been born as a purity. Broken into a husk. Raised by shadows. Formed into a monster.
She had become an angel as she’d always dreamed as child, but one with blackened, frayed wings. One that was filled with atrocities and felt the Void course through her very veins. One that ushered souls into an eternity of pain, agony, never to feel the sweet kiss of the Light above.
She was an angel of death. She was a dying light.

We all Belong
Each of us who roleplay, we belong to the community. We are citizens of this community. We use this world built by others to make it come to life with our stories and ideas. We build each other up by sharing those stories and ideas.
Sometimes, we do not agree. People have differing opinions on how to roleplay a class, a piece of lore, or even where to roleplay. And that is okay. Some of us like the kind of story with just a slice of life. Some of us like more complex and involved stories. None of that is wrong.
Each of us deserves the chance to tell our stories. Just as some people do not like Horror Movies or Action Movies or Romance Movies, so too is it okay to find the genre you like to write and stick with it.
Being a good roleplay citizen, means letting each person explore their creativity. It also means respecting people’s boundaries. Discussing calmly when something seems awry with the way the story is developing.
We should all strive to support each other in this hobby we all enjoy.
