since isja and num have to stay connected by the scarf, how do they change clothes?
great question! some everyday stuff is a bit more complicated for them than normal people and it's been a fun challenge over the years to figure out how they go about things while maintaining as much independence as possible for both of them. a lot of it can be explained with "well, the scarf is long enough to the point of which they can have some distance between each other" (i.e. when they have to use the bathroom, one can usually just sit outside the door with the scarf going beneath the door), but some of it (like changing clothes) is a bit trickier.
they've got a couple options depending on what they're wearing or changing out of/into:
option 1 is just tying the scarf around one of their wrists or ankles (though this makes it easy to trip over the scarf so they don't do it often or for very long periods of time). this is their usual go-to for most situations because it gives them the best mobility/independence, but changing out of some shirts (like a t-shirt, for example) would be difficult if they did this. this has led to them generally wearing things that they can either button up or tie since those are way easier to get into and out of.
option 2 would be physical contact, such as a hand on the other's head or shoulder. again, this presents issues depending on what they're wearing, so it's a case-by-case basis.
option 3 is sitting with the scarf laying across their laps. you can actually see this in one of the panels of chapter 1!
