Antman And The Termites
After some crazy circumstances, I now have the responsibility and honor of being called an Avenger. This means I’m away from my home and family. Maggie, my ex-wife, cares for our little girl when I’m away.
The thing is, I’m away a lot. And this is in no thanks to Thanos. See, between random wars and that big purple Shrek, I haven’t been home for more than a simple nights rest or change of clothes in years. For a while, I had some complicated priorities. My duties as an Avenger came first, father second, and homeowner last.
My home suffered the worst for it, too. While I had someone come in and clean the place out once a month, it was otherwise empty and vacant. After five years, I moved back in. The first thing I noticed were some little bugs flying around. Bugs don’t bother me so much anymore, so I didn’t worry. At first.
It was like a small swarm of flying ants in my house, only I know enough to know that they aren’t ants. This meant that I was infested with termites. I contacted my cleaning person, and they said they noticed it developing over the season and just put out fly traps. That’s it.
I couldn’t have my little girl staying in an infested house, so I rented a hotel room to stay in. It was nice to go on an impromptu vacation! It took a while to set up an appointment with the standard pest control guys. But about two weeks later, I got a real bad phone call. My house collapsed.
I thought it must have been an enemy, but the inspection said it was from a severe case of termites. I didn’t even realize termites could bring down a building! I was so grateful neither me nor my daughter was in the house when it happened. It was time to bulldoze the property and sell it. I needed a new house.
Perhaps this is overzealous of me, but as soon as I signed the papers and bought my new house, I did some research to find a quality pest control in Garden Grove. I found out that harsh chemicals weren’t my only option, and there is a thing called natural extermination using things like orange oils. Nice!
I had them do an inspection of my house and use some precautionary treatments. I also set up regular appointments for inspection and spraying. I may not be opposed to ants in my house occasionally, but I wasn’t willing to let the termites win again. And if I were to ever go tiny, then it feels good to know I don’t have to worry about my own chemicals that I’ve put down!
Natural Science Extermination did all of this for me, and they were incredibly helpful and kind. I considered telling them who I was (I thought they’d get a kick out of it!) but instead I just played the part of a normal Dad who wants to keep his house safe for his children and pets.
